Someone just told me to use the calendar on my PC, instead of poring over stationary websites to choose a nice new desk planner to write my work stuff in?

I'm right, surely to goodness?

It's a school neu. Sadly those in charge cannot understand why we might need it synced.

I sort of get round t by just adding my personal email address to the appointment to I add Myself as an attendee. That doesn't work the other way round though as the IT systems blocks such invites from external. So if I am in a meeting out of school and send myself an appointment I can't accept it.

BeyondTheWall · 29/07/2015 10:05

Ahh, you fellow weirdos will understand. The awesomeness of filling in the front page of a new diary...... Grin

DoreenLethal · 29/07/2015 10:08

I've wasted this link on electronic diary pages before but here I think it will be appreciated...I use this method for diaries [I make my own month pages at the front and then bullet journal the rest of the book]

bulletjournal.com/

I also have a favourite pen. If you haven't seen these before, you may have to sit down.

BorderWrangler · 29/07/2015 11:52

For those looking for the perfect pen to hold, Bic do pens specifically for little lady hands

The reviews are very positive!

NeuNewNouveau · 29/07/2015 13:21

passmethecrisps that's a shame. Are you not centrally hosted?

I used to be able to get my school (governor rather than staff but still a school email address) email through my phone and it had the calendar capability. No longer a governor so can't check it though.

I did have to ask the guy from ICT who visited fortnightly though as the office staff didn't know how to do it.

Katinkka · 29/07/2015 13:28

I just spent £80 at cult pens! I blame you all!

I bought a lovely diary from Etsy this year, hand-made in London Town (the East End, naturally, somewhere artisanal, lots of beards). Feel even more delighted that my perfect sized, perfect shape diary is hand-made (insert 'smug, supporting small businesses' face).

I've been stationery obsessed since the 80s when everyone pre-pubescent girls bought that coloured paper and matching envelopes. I had paper in every colour I could find because things in different colours, all neatly laid out AND those things are paper? SWOON.

Of course, barely used it because it was too perfect and using it would make it dirty and sullied.

The good news is that by reading this I've discovered that while I might be a bit odd about stationery, I am far from alone.

Mrsleighdelamare · 29/07/2015 17:14

Border - I've seen those reviews before, I was crying with laughter

stealthsquiggle · 29/07/2015 17:22

I am focused on indoctrinating the next generation. I have been making pencil cases (with their names on) and giving gifts of lovely satisfactory sets of triplus fine liners to all DD's friends (or those who have invited her to their parties, anyway) as they turn 8.

12yo DS is converted already. He has a growing stock of notebooks waiting for a use case worthy of their beauty, and a collection of fountain pens (under the excuse of finding one which worked with his rather awkward left handed writing). Time at various airports when travelling for work can be happily wasted invested if they have a good stationery shop.

stealthsquiggle · 29/07/2015 17:24

Doreen I love those pilot sign pens. There is one hiding in my work bag somewhere (clearly I need a pencil case Grin)

Passmethecrisps · 29/07/2015 20:19

Those in corporate have the capability neu but it is deliberately turned off for us in school. I suppose in fairness 90% of teaching staff won't need it but it would make a big difference to me and colleagues within my particular role.

That bic pen and its reviews make me laugh!

Oh! And apparently there is a moleskin notebook which has numbered pages - win!

Passmethecrisps · 29/07/2015 20:20

And you should all get a pencil case. I love my wee one although I might treat myself to a new one this year.

Nothing takes the sting out of the new term like a pencil case few of shiny new things

mineofuselessinformation · 29/07/2015 20:27

Am I wrong to say I love using a fountain pen (a cheapy one from paperchase Shock) but with multipack of different-coloured cartridges? My diary always looks colourful, even if it's saying something boring...
And can you stop it with the stationery porn as it's making me want to buy some! Smile

I love fountain pens...... I have a Lamy Safari in red and blue (with red and turquoise inks), a Lamy Nexx in coral (but sepia ink not coral as it's an awkward nib) then I bought 3 Jinhao pens - two look like Lamy Safari's in Orange and Black and a gorgeous stainless steel one (I will be getting orange, black and a ? ink shortly). I recommend Bureau Direct for all pen requirements!

I do use my phone calendar as it syncs with the tablet calendar, the advantage is I only need my phone when I'm out but... I do miss my lovely diary.

midnightmoomoo · 29/07/2015 21:37

Is this the right place to confess that having bought a new mum's office diary (which starts this week!!!) I have yet to write in it because, shh, I don't know which pen to write in it with??!!!! Oh the stress! It's watching me, and I don't know what to do! Purple? Turquoise? Biro or fountain?
What happens if I get it wrong???! It will be ruined, ruined I tell you!!!!

Mandala/Mandela in the same thread as stationary/stationery. Brilliant!

Third post of this thread is just inspired. I love MN.

FryOneFatManic · 29/07/2015 21:49

I've been buying ink to refill my fountain pens.

I really like Diamine ink. So many colours to choose!

I also like the really cheap Papermate Inkjoy 100 stick pens (not the 300 range, they're crap). I think they think I'm odd at work, but I think it freaked them out a bit when they once saw me writing with both hands at the same time...... Grin

AttackOfTheGreyLantern · 29/07/2015 21:54

JickChick I completely understand. I'm just about to start my organised mum diary (as recommended on here and just about able to get over the name!) and I can not decide what writing tool to use. Then this thread introduced me to disposable fountain pens - with at least 8 colour options! (already dutifully in my amazon basket.) I think I have settled on just using pencil. Then I don't have the angst of using over-white tippex on my off-white pages. Any thoughts?

midnightmoomoo · 29/07/2015 22:01

Ooh, pencil is an excellent back up plan!

My DH went to Israel for a meeting a few years ago and came back with a selection of retractable pencils for me!!!!! You wouldn't believe how many brownie points that earned him.....,until he cracked under the pressure and confessed they actually came from a hotel in Stevenage!!!'

Passmethecrisps · 29/07/2015 22:04

My DH wooed me by buying me a box of red bic Pens as a Christmas gift in my first weeks of being a brand new teacher. I knew he was a keeper.

I also do the pencil first sometimes in my diary. I want to make sure I get my colour right as I have a whole year of sticking to that colour if I get it wrong

ThoseAwfulCurtains · 29/07/2015 22:05
Shock LTB! Grin
ThoseAwfulCurtains · 29/07/2015 22:08

Jick obvs

I use pencil in my work diary. Leuchtturm sell pen loops that stick inside the back cover.
I couldn't find the 'right' diary for work as I'm part time and my appointments are constantly changing so I bought the right notebook and write the days/dates in myself Blush.

DoreenLethal · 29/07/2015 22:15

A - i have a lamy fountain pen and just got a new set of cartridges for it

B - i learnt how to bookbind this year and next years diary is going to be hand made by me!

C - i used to only date men with their own Staples cards, when they first came out. Surprisingly, alot of the men i was friends with had one, being graphic designers and stuff. I had a grand old time until they stopped doing the cards, that is. Lost my mojo after that. Had to think up a whole new set of chat up lines.
