Someone just told me to use the calendar on my PC, instead of poring over stationary websites to choose a nice new desk planner to write my work stuff in?

I'm right, surely to goodness?

Do not under any circumstances go here your bank account will thank you?

MsRinky · 28/07/2015 19:11

Ahem, I think you probably mean a Mandala colouring in book.

Presumably a Mandela colouring book would have prison scenes on Robben Island, followed by the long walk to Freedom. Nelson's shirts and Winnie's outfits would be quite colourful though...

Ohwhatfuckeryisthis · 28/07/2015 19:11

Doh, epic punctuation failure. But don't. do, it's lovely

ouryve · 28/07/2015 19:12

YABU for assuming that your desk planner will be found on a website about standing still.

Felyne · 28/07/2015 19:12

A rulER is an item of stationERy.
The cAR was stationARy.

(A PEDANT is rather ANNOYING, like a person who uses CAPITAL LETTERS in the middle of words.)

You're welcome Blush

FirstWeTakeManhattan · 28/07/2015 19:19

I know, I know. Stationery. But I was excited about my desk planner, typing with one hand, choccie mint ice cream in the other, I took my eye off the stationery/stationary ball.

Or, even better:

StationEry - "e is for envelopes".

StationAry - "a is for 'anging about".

A sub-editor on a national newspaper shared that with me because my spelling is awful.

Alchemist · 28/07/2015 19:22

MsRinky You are correct Blush Grin.

Sparklingbrook · 28/07/2015 19:22

i took DS2 to the orthodontist last week, I knew we would have to book an appointment for next month so I shoved the kitchen planner in my handbag to make sure I wasn't double booking us. Blush

Felyne · 28/07/2015 19:22

I adore stationery. I used to love the first day of school with all-new unwritten in exercise books, new sharp pencils, pristine white rectangular erasers with all of their corners ... bliss.

Sparklingbrook · 28/07/2015 19:23

I love a good poke round Paperchase.

Alchemist · 28/07/2015 19:26

You know when you find a pen which suits your hand? Could be a cheap or expensive one but you feel nice when using it. That's nice.

ftmsoon · 28/07/2015 19:29

DH has set us up with synced electronic diaries, I miss my little paper ones! I still think: purse, phone, keys, lipbalm, diary before I go out. Sad

woowoo22 · 28/07/2015 19:37

What a freak (them).

PurpleSwirl · 28/07/2015 19:40

Ha, I read the title and only opened the post to see how many posts in it would take before a standing still joke was cracked.
Good old MN, I wasn't let down fellow pedants Grin

"You know when you find a pen which suits your hand? Could be a cheap or expensive one but you feel nice when using it. That's nice."

Ungh, this is the best feeling!

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 28/07/2015 19:54

An electronic calendar? Shock What on earth are you meant to use a fountain pen for if everything is electronic? (general stationery and fountain pen lover)

Banish these people from your life now and remember to laugh when all their computers/phones/tablets crash and they haven't the foggiest what they're meant to be doing!

ghostyslovesheep · 28/07/2015 19:57

my work lets us have a plain black diary ... I SHUN it!

I purchased my own - it has unicorns dancing in a glittery rainbow on the front ... much better

YANBU

Silvercatowner · 28/07/2015 19:59

*Whispers (actually you can colour code an Outlook calendar....)

ThoseAwfulCurtains · 28/07/2015 20:10

iliketea pretty please tell me where you're getting paper that you can use fountain pens on? I've tried Leuchtturm and Moleskine and the ink shows through the paper on bothSad

TheRealAmyLee · 28/07/2015 20:11

I have both. Electronic is useful but I can't give up my stationary stationery...

Salmotrutta · 28/07/2015 20:13

There is nothing that compares to lovely paper notebooks and diaries.

It's like looking at a world of new possibilities when you open that first fresh page.

Electronic devices just don't cut it.

ThoseAwfulCurtains · 28/07/2015 20:15

I do like the sticky notes thing on my work laptop too.

SaulGood · 28/07/2015 20:19

This thread is like my spiritual home.

DH buys me stationery like other people buy flowers and chocolates. We've just been away for our tenth wedding anniversary (first trip away in ten years in fact) and on the bed waiting for me was a brand new, beautiful notebook, several sachets of earl grey tea and a selection of my favourite biros (bic fine lines). I didn't even need the hotel and the nice food and all that stuff. I sat. I scribbled. I smiled. Bliss.
