These books were first written in 1997 (that's 18 years ago!) and is one of the most succesful book and film franchise sin the world... ever... if you don't know that people die in it, then you've been living under a rock.

If the book had been published last week and someone said this, then fair enough, but it's been yeeeeeeaaaaars.

My nearly 9 yo loves HP. We read each book in turn before watching the film and took a few breaks, after 3 we left it a while as he wasn't yet 7 when we started. The deathly hallowes 1 is ver dark but 2 wraps it up so you may as well let him see that it all comes good.

I wasn't upset by any of the deaths on any of the books, what upset me more was when Hermione wipes all memory of herself from her parents lives.
