I mean are they beyond the valley of acceptability upon a stylish foot? Ever?

No way!everyone should go there.I love some of there shoes.I'm in my terntys.yes some of them, plus shop decor dnt give off a hip image but they have beautiful items.I'm no fashion guru but I have a young adult eye.plus I tried mums on and swishhhhhh my feet were in heaven.

SignoraStronza · 21/07/2015 04:04

I need these shoes. Size 4 originally, but after 3x pregnancies am now a 6. Add lipo-lymphoedema into the mix and my poor, swollen square shaped feet will never again see another high heeled shoe.
Was totally put off by spending the day at Dunelm Mill with MIL after her foot surgery though. They are not the prettiest!

IDismyname · 21/07/2015 04:09

I've got a pair of Crocs that look a bit like ballet flats. Had them a few years and love the fact they are so comfy. However, they make my feet really hot and sweaty.
Do Crocs do anything that's breathable?

nigelslaterfan · 21/07/2015 06:18

Isn't it incredible that we've had the vote for a long time but still consider comfortable feet as an extreme fantasy.

It's true that Hotter is the shop where old ladies get their shoes.

BUT...They have a few beautiful styles in as well.
I just wore my Hotter wedges to a wedding and apparently was whispered about as the sexiest dressed there Shock !

I have plantar facilitis and bunions. My friend bought me a pair of Hotters for my birthday as I absolutely refused to even try them on. She MADE me try them and now I weep with joy (and shame) when I put them on. Its like going to work in my slippers. But god, the bastards are ugly.

WilburIsSomePig · 21/07/2015 06:57

Cuttedup I need to see your shoes! Which ones are they? I'm dying to see a sexy Hotter! Grin

Clarks have some lovely styles but hardly any choice for wider feet! I know my feet are wide but I want pretty shoes!

babsmam · 21/07/2015 07:45

Daft I love those wedges. What's the size like. I wear a 5.5 in clarks

mollie123 · 21/07/2015 07:59

sandals (hotter or otherwise) are not for older people at all Shock
as an 'older person' I hate my feet and they are better than a lot of feet I see in sandals (or worse flipflops) as when I was young my mother made me wear sensible shoes Smile
as I wear skinny jeans most of the time I wear ballerinas or canvas 'pumps' for comfort - hotter sandals never, hotter shoes (only the better style ones)

midnightvelvetPart2 · 21/07/2015 08:07

So how do these fare?

I've had plantar fascitiis & I don't want the fecker back, I walk a LOT as I'm not driving at the mo & do a minimum of 4 miles per day & I'm constantly looking for comfortable sports type sandals. I have some already but one pair gives me blisters on the sole of my foot & the other 2 rub toes to bleeding point.

Could I get away with these with cropped jeans do you think? I'll be up on the top of hills & nosing around in burial barrows all summer, not cappuccino sipping in Italy with fashionistas :) then using them for the school run until the weather cools

Honest opinions please! :)

GoooRooo · 21/07/2015 08:17

midnight I'm sorry but those are hideous.

There are some on that site that I would wear though (not many in the sandal section!) - I think you just have to be very very choosy.

midnightvelvetPart2 · 21/07/2015 08:21

Ha Goo you confirmed my suspicions Grin

I've just been looking through the sandals & am Shock at all the teardrop shaped cutouts & stuff I haven't seen since my great aunts died...I thought they were very 80's yet here they are! To buy in 2015!

Aeroflotgirl · 21/07/2015 08:24

No sorry they are all bloody awful. I usually go for Timberland, Uggs, crocs which make comfy footwear but fashionable. Those Hotter shoes gave an elderly undercurrent about them. Even my 80 year old mum won't wear them or my 78 year oldAunt.

Aeroflotgirl · 21/07/2015 08:24

It's the same as Scholl and Ecco really.

marriednotdead · 21/07/2015 08:39

Another dodgy footed one here, always look on these threads in the hope of finding something bearable. Condition similar to PF that won't fuck off so I'm stuck with very specific choices to avoid agonising inflammation, not an option when in an on-your-feet-all-day job. Have skinny legs so spend much time trying not to look like a duck- shoes/boots have to be a size bigger or wider to accommodate orthotics... Nearly 50 but work in relatively young and fashionable field so not willing to be frumpy.

I look in Hotter very occasionally but haven't yet found anything that my princess feet will tolerate, but the last time we were in there my fashionable DD saw a couple of styles that she'd wear!

Not fond of those midnight, they're a bit too far into the old lady camp for my liking. Mind you, since my foot issues began, I am far less likely to judge anyone's taste by what they have on below their ankle!

My seasons currently look like this

Spring and Autumn

summer

Winter

Am in the 5th year of the Clarks shoes, usually bought in their outlet. Boots got the trendy vote from many, much to my surprise. Am used to the head tilt and 'I bet those are comfy' so I was a bit suspicious at first Grin

stevienickstophat · 21/07/2015 08:40

I actually did a double take at a pair of vintagey-looking heels in the Hotter shop the other week.

I think they were linked upthread. They're gorgeous.

I just have to mentally get past where they're from and sort out a disguise and I'll definitely go get them.

DoesItReallyMatter · 21/07/2015 08:47

I think the sandals you link to are ok. They are walking shoes so look fine -
The don't look granny'ish at all.

I have awful bunions, despite only being in my 30s and wearing sensible, well fitting shoes all my life. The bunions are genetic, and my feet hurt a lot, so I have no choice but to prioritise comfort. I have two small children, and we walk loads so I am on my feet.

Of the sandals, I like these and these are fine too.

ohtheholidays · 21/07/2015 09:05

I've just had a look(never heard of them before)and I like the Scarlett,Sunny and the glow in denim Multi.

BitofFun I love those they look really nice.

I'm 40 and I'd wear them and I'm very much a fan of the 1960's pencil skirt and fitted dresses.

Cinnamoncookie · 21/07/2015 09:05

I have three pairs of the trainers pictured above, in black, dark red and lilac. I also have a pair of Mary Janes. I have osteoarthritis in my toes on both feet, am 40 and my job involves a lot of standing. So Hotter is my saviour. Life is too short to wear shoes so painful they make you cry. I'm likely to be crippled by the osteoarthritis by my 60s anyway, I don't want to hasten the process Grin

Orangeanddemons · 21/07/2015 09:08

I think it's the moulded soles that put me off. If they were just normal soles, they would be more bearable.
