I mean are they beyond the valley of acceptability upon a stylish foot? Ever?

Oh, the Michelle heels are really nice.

BitOfFun · 20/07/2015 21:58

Nige, they look perfectly nice to me.

And BOOOO to blokes who appoint themselves the fashion police. Unless you've been to Goldsmiths, I ain't listening.

rubyflipper · 20/07/2015 21:58

Old lady shoes. Sorry.

SwedishEdith · 20/07/2015 22:00

OP, your husband's reaction would make me buy and wear them. Grin

Twinkie1 · 20/07/2015 22:01

My MIL is their best customer, we buy her vouchers for birthday and Christmas therefore I'd not go near them.

nigelslaterfan · 20/07/2015 22:01

I agree with all of you, those that say yay and those that say nay. but my feet love them. I am going to wear them in private.... I can't tell you how comfortable they are!

They are ugly. Some styles uglier than others. But for those of us who really need comfy shoes (and when I say need, I mean - in my case - plantar fasciitis and arthritis) they make the difference between crippling pain and an absence of that pain. In that situation, there isn't much choice.

You just have to be very choosy. And wait for sales.

Right now, I'm wearing these from the Lands End sale: ridiculously comfortable, and the burnt orange version is actually a much better colour in RL: www.landsend.co.uk/_Womens_Terrain_Perforated_Strap_Sandals/pp/P_29005.html?cgid=10557&cgid=10557

forcookssake · 20/07/2015 22:03

Anyone got any suggestions for really comfy shoes that aren't ugly then?

Fluffycloudland77 · 20/07/2015 22:04

If you have an issue with your foot and these are comfortable then wear them.

Otherwise it only gets worse.

GoblinLittleOwl · 20/07/2015 22:04

Would not be seen dead in them. (pensioner).

BitOfFun · 20/07/2015 22:04

Yeah, there's a limit, Nige Grin

nigelslaterfan · 20/07/2015 22:06

Those look like my grannie's sandals.

But are <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/236x/b8/15/f3/b815f3e3c76f6465d92325602f34e932.jpg&imgrefurl=www.pinterest.com/officialhotter/holiday-shoes/&h=236&w=236&tbnid=Y3e2t3QqWlX6vM:&docid=jcOMqP9tonBddM&ei=aWKtVc2jDMzjU7yInzA&tbm=isch&client=safari&ved=0CCkQMygLMAtqFQoTCI38hpfO6sYCFczxFAodPMQHBg" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">these terrible?

If I'd known when I was younger how I was screwing up my feet in various ill supporting shoes I would have been more careful!
I have plantar fasciitis too, it's so so so painful, need to have really supportive shoes kind of for all time!

flip flips are crimes against feet my podiatrist says

The bonus of shopping in our branch of hotter is that the manager is exactly that!

It's been a while since I last visited, but think a younger, naughtier version of Brian Cox Grin !

BitOfFun · 20/07/2015 22:10

There are some on the Josef Sebeil site that aren't awful (once you get past the suspicion you are dealing with of of Hitler's henchmen).

I quite like these wedges.

I like those red ones, yes.

daftbesom · 20/07/2015 22:11

iggi I can report on the heels:

  • fine for a day in the office at my mostly sedentary job with bursts of trotting down corridors/up stairs, plus a 15-minute trip "up the street" at lunchtime and then a supermarket shop at the end of the working day.
  • NOT so good for 2 days of event hosting on your feet for 12 hours a day when you forgot to pack the Mary Janes. (On the other hand I'm sure any other heels would've been much much worse!)
Moanranger · 20/07/2015 22:18

Never heard of these so had to google. I don't think they are that bad, the Maisie sandals looked rather nice. My daughter has just had bunion surgery & the sandals she has had to wear make Hotters look like Jimmy Choos! She started with black Velcro-strapped chairman Mao shoes & has just graduated to nuns sandals (sorry, Sister.)
I don't have foot problems myself tho I avoid heels, but have just bought a pair of divine Flamingo silver wedges - so comfortable!

DoeEyedNear · 20/07/2015 22:20

Hmm I'm sensing a business opportunity here Grin

Devora · 20/07/2015 22:21

I've gone beyond being able to wear ANY heels, sadly. Ballet flats also out. Before pregnancy, I was a 5 1/2 with normal width feet; now I am a 7 with feet that are wide - but only at the front. Fashionable feet are a thing of the past, but I am surprised at how few attractive, comfortable shoes there are on the market.

HiawathaDidntBotherTooMuch · 20/07/2015 22:24

I have awful bunions and I am very very limited in my choice of shoes. I can fit into only some hotter, and only some m and s foot glove wide fit. I am in my 30s, a size 10 and like clothes. There's a massive gap in the market for decent shoes for people with foot problems.
