AIBU to think that he should have cottoned on about 10 years ago, not now when it is so glaringly obvious as to be an embarrassment for everyone?

Integration not working in this very Muslim city. There are complete areas now taken over my immigrants. Generations of families bought over here crammed in houses. Lots of non English speaking. Some areas comprise of Asian food stores, sari shops, takeaways; pharmacists; halal shops. I drove through one area and there were only Asian people in Asian attire. It needs to be seen to be believed and I felt like an outsider. There desperately needs to be more integration- it's shocking

Wearing your own attire or " Asian attire" 🙄 doesn't have anything to do with integration, nor does having, pharmacies( which can be used by anyone, not only asians) shops, or halal butchers stop integration from happening.

Why should there not be a halal butchers don't Muslims have a right to eat meat? Where would we go for our meat if not halal butchers.

How simple a view you have of " asians" you have reduced a subcontinent into one.

As much as I hate to agree with DC, the protests at the schools in Birmingham support this.

I think every adult should have to spend a year living and working in a foreign country with a different culture. That would solve this kind of xenophobia and out group hostility.

I think that in the main integration woek ,or did work.
From personal experience , some groups do not seem to be mixing amd communities are being affected when large groups take over an area. There arw also some groups that do not seem to want to mix and integrate.
A recent trip to a west yorkshire city showed little mixing at all in the student cohort even . Local eateries were distinctive white or asian. In london it seems more open and intrgrated ,but other cities there are many examples of children of erhinic minorities not allowing their dc to mix. Tho many do of course.. but it is distinct and visible it really is.
Immigration of differing groups.appears to have added to tensions between groups in some cities I know well.
I like another poster feel imigration is fine,but to take on the norms and culture of the country should be expected. Just like when i go to other countries i adhere to their culture.
I think it is very very important for the way that some men in some cultures treat and view women ,are addressed. I say this as a victim of sexual assualt where my culture a western woman .. of not being modest, not covering my hair meant that i was basically fair game and that the males lust.was not his problem . He cited his culture as peemission to .attack . I totally kmow that many men of that mans culture would not do that of course,but.it brought it home to me that to hold this cultural view of females should have no part in modern britain .

Agree ghosty - the failure of some white Christians to integrate with others is concerning.
