We're having a party for a significant occasion. Invitations went out months ago and we had about 50 guests and their dcs, coming. It's now coming up to the day and in the past week about half have cancelled. Even dh's sister.

Most reasons are "we have plans the following week and don't want to travel before them".

I am feeling very friendless and sad.

I've struggled to make friends since we moved here and was really looking forward to people visiting and feeling like I do have friends.

So would I be unreasonable to give up on the real world and just drift off into the MN ether forever?

I'm quite nice really Sad

I'd just like one friend to be able to have a cuppa with once a week and chat about stuff.

Before anyone suggest MN local, there is only tumbleweed blowing through mine :o

We've just been in the loft to get everything down.

I don't mind the camping itself, just that the preparing to go, pitching and setting up and doing it all again backwards to come home is such a pita, especially as DH and I always seem to have the opposite idea of how to go about things.

We're also going to the same site in Cornwall for the third year running which is lovely but as we don't have the biggest holiday budget I'd rather explore new places.

Am trying to convince DH to do a cottage in Yorkshire next year, but he's having none of it at the moment Angry.

Went to the 70 th birthday party and the room was rammed!

On that basis, it must be me then . Lol ;-)

Hi! I'm with you on the will you be my friend and let's climb a tree! These "grown up" friendships (especially at the school gate) are too minefieldy for me.
Not in Wales but just the other side of the Severn!! Went to uni in Wales. That was years ago but lots of partying involved.
If anyone else cancels then I suggest just inviting the whole of MN! Grin

Dowser, that's it, I'm targeting the over 60s for friendship from here on in. No one under 55 is getting a look in :)

I think MN is the way to go. None of you would be flakey... Would you?!

I find packing for camping the most exhausting type of packing.
