To think that some BMW are complete cocks?

Just had a massive standoff with a BMW driver. I had right of way, cars were parked all down his side, so I expected him to pull over to let me pass. At the point where we met, he was about 4 foot past a large space to pull in, which was also opposite a side road, which would have I would have been able to use to get past. So there was plenty of room for us to pass without either of us really waiting. He stopped on my side of the road, and expected me to drive on the pavement to get round him. I just stopped, I didn't have anywhere to be, in a hurry, so thought he would move eventually!
Some scaffolders on a nearby house started telling him to reverse but he wasn't having any of it.
A lady behind me tried to get him to reverse, then another guy told him to reverse. But all to no avail, I gave in to his complete twattery and drove on the pavement to get round him. I shouted to him that he needs to learn how to drive, he told me that I was jealous of his car. Hmm If having a car like that makes you drive like a cock, then I'm glad I don't have one.
I'm absolutely shaking with the frustration of his arrogance. I have noticed since driving a small car, I get cut up a lot. But this was ridiculous.

I see this more and more and in my experience it does tend to be people in so-called "executive" cars or big 4WDs ( and i speak as an Audi driver)
It's as if they don't care that their side of the road is blocked, they have no concept of 'right of way' and carry on regardless. I once had a very small car as a loaner while mine was in the garage for a repair and the amount of intimidation under similar circs was truly appalling , it was all "I'm bigger than you therefore i can force you over so i can get through even though it's on the wrong side of the road. " Cocks. I lean on the horn.

I have 2 cars. One is a BMW X5, the other is a batters old Peugeot.
I love driving both but feel like a twat in the BMW mainly because of other road users attitude towards me. As a pp mentioned, trying to race me at the lights and cutting me up to try and prove their cars go fast. Those people are the proper twats no matter what they drive imo. If you drive like a cunt, you drive that way in whatever vehicle you're in.
I feel much more at home in my old crappy Peugeot!
Your op is completely based on your one unfortunate incident today - he sounds like a tosser, but I don't think his car make has much to do with it. How many other bmws did you encounter today? How many of those drivers would you feel the same way towards?

Makes complete sense from a branding point of view. The kinds of psychological needs BMW plays to align with the kind of driver who would act like a cock on the road.

And before people get their knickers in a twist, of course that's not incontrovertibly true for every case - but generally speaking.

Sometimes they see red when they see that BMW blue and white propeller badge approaching.

Me? I've never driven a BMW and ride on the bus these days.

It's not just BMW drivers but the comment on his part about jealousy was pathetic. BMWs aren't anything special and they certainly don't make him any more entitled to the road than everyone else out and about.

Forgot to say that I agree that sometimes the car you drive can attract the wrong kind of attention... I used to drive a Mercedes and lost count of the number of people who would try to race me at lights etc.Hmm

He thought I was jealous of his car, and so was the reason I didn't give way. No, I just know the Highway Code. Presumably he wouldn't have said I was jealous if he'd had a beaten up old Ford or Nissan, but he would probably still be the type to be a cock and block the road, no matter what his was driving.
I do have a grandad car, it was given to me by my elderly FIL as he can't drive any longer due to ill health. So it might be uncool but was completely free!

YANBU OP. I am sure there are many lovely BMW drivers, but I don't notice them as they are going about their business without bothering anyone, as are most of the other road users in whatever car. Of the ones that do draw my attention due to their twattishness, a huge proportion do seem to be driving BMW's.

Had the same issue with a bnw driver and 3 cars had to reverse because he wouldn't. i think the worse though are Addison lee drivers and white vans they really enjoy tailgating people

Well if you read my op, that's what he said to me as I drove past him.
I hardly boasted about a standoff next time, did you not see the grin, it's called a joke. I have much better things to do with my time. I will give way to blue BMW drivers down this particular road in future in case it is him. I will rise above his twatish behaviour. Thanks for your kind comnents Grin

Now, I'm no fan of Clarkson but I suspect he got it at least partly right when he called BMWs Nazi Staff Cars. And next time someone tells you you're just jealous of their stupid car, just say "if I'd wanted one of those hideous things I could have had one. In fact I could have had two."

The DRIVERS are BMWS - Bloody Minded Wankers (or big, massive wankers) I really really get so frustrated with people who drive stupidly. We all make mistakes but so many accidents are caused by people being impatient asshats!

My DH drives a BMW. They are in my opinion über cocks though! I normally drive a MPV but had a tiny weeny hire car recently and it was BMW drivers that were total bullies on the road. Did have loads of blokes checking the car out though!

There is some proper awful driving about. i think it's Tailgating Week around here. The cars doing it tend to be the ones with fairy light headlamps that are on whether dark or not. Hmm

I think Audi drivers are tortured by the fact that their supposedly 'premium' car shares the engine floor pan and drivetrain with a Skoda and feel the need to take it out on the rest of the world.

I also drive a 5 series estate and I am not a cock. I drive very safely and considerately, actually. Unlike the vans and elderly astras who like attempting to run me off the road every morning. Perhaps they hate me because of my car. Twunts.

The only aggressive thing I do is squirt tailgaters with washer fluid.
