to ask how many of you had a mum who was naked at home a lot?

A couple of days ago, I had spent all day in PJs and no bra (my excuse being my beautiful DS1 is 9 weeks old and some days are trickier than others!) and I thought to myself "I am turning into my mum by not wearing a bra! No wait, I would have to be naked in the house all the time to be my mum. Wait... what?"

It was a moment of realising that something that was completely normal to me as a child may not actually be that normal. I suspect this will end up filed under "more evidence my mum is bonkers", but to make sure I am not being unreasonable, may I ask you if your mums (or either parent I guess!) spent most of their time in the house naked? She would do it with the curtains/blinds open, and it would be all day, not just a pre-shower moment, so pretty extensive nakedness.

I don't feel I can ask the people I know in real life. I suspect I'll sound a bit odd.

No, my mum was always clothed thank goodness. Did yours get dressed if you had friends round?

She did get dressed, if I told her in advance I was having a friend over.

Your not odd, but msybe your mum was a little. No both parents clothed except when getting dressed or bathing. Nakedness wasn't hidden but neither was is flaunted.
Is your DM still around to ask why?

My Mum was naked a lot. When growing up we had a strange family dynamic and my stepfather would lay all our (me, siblings & mum) clothes out in the living room and we'd get dressed communally. That changed as us children hit puberty and required privacy but mum continued and, like you, it's only now I look back and think "what the..."

But my mum is not normal, with parents like mine I'm surprised at how not fucked up I actually am. She'd do things like trim her pubic hair in the living room but actually leave the ball of hair on the floor, then tell everybody how hilarious it was that the cat played with it. Boak.

No, parents fully clothed most of the time. Nakedness wasn't hidden, In that they would change and bathe in front of us, but they didn't wander around naked either.

Almahart I don't specifically remember being embarrassed about it. It was just "normal" to me as that's what I grew up with.

Choccybaby we didn't live in a secluded house. It was a semi on a normal street. I suspect the neighbours got a regular eyeful. Oh dear.

Shellistar omg I just remembered the time my mum dyed her pubes purple (with my bloody hair dye!) and showed me! I was about 13. Eeeuuurrrgh.

Good God no.I never saw my mum in the nip until she was 75 and needed help washing just before she died.The very thought < shudders >.

We don't walk around naked but they see us naked or half a fair bit. Both ds's (5 and under) co sleep with us most nights and dh and I just wear pants to bed. They still bath and shower with us.

Not my mum but my dad always took his trousers off and sat around in his y-fronts! Luckily the mouse stayed in the house

My mum was naked a bit. Not in the middle of the day but after a shower she might do some odd jobs or something! I think it was normal in the 70s and 80s as they were all old hippies! I don't hide nakedness from my kids as I don't want them to think the body is shameful but I don't flaunt it either.

No, my parents were prudish and would have been horrified if I'd seen them naked even accidentally. I have a vague memory of showering with my mom but I was 4 at the oldest.

I'm different. I don't walk around naked but I breastfeed in the living room and DS (almost 8) will sometimes come in and talk to me when I'm on the toilet. Both would be absolute no no's when I was a kid.

I wouldn't say mine were great nudists but nakedness was never hidden if you see what I mean.

I am probably naked in front of my daughter more than my parents were with me. But like a PP, I sleep naked and also have a tendency to walk around in the buff occasionally.

I think it's just normal for us, there's no great underlying reason or anything and I don't think I'm particularly bonkers... Others may disagree!

The nakedness was infrequent but the shagging wasn't...yak. Listening to the headboards banging as a teen wasn't a good memory!

My mum was the complete opposite. She was never, ever downstairs without being fully dressed. Upstairs she would have a dressing gown on for the dash between bathroom and bedroom.

We only had one bathroom/toilet, so she would have her bath in 5 mins flat, to ensure no-one needed to go in while she was there. Dad likes an hour long soak and was happy for us to use the loo or brush our teeth while he was in the bath. Which we did until well into and even past our teens. Now that seems odd now....

No she was only naked if getting dressed but it wasn't hidden!

My mum was uptight about loads of stuff but unfortunately not about being naked. I hated it. She would leave the door open when she was in the loo as well, not just when we were tiny but into our teens. Absolutely not what I wanted to see.

I think it's probably why I'm extremely private. Doors are closed and clothes or pyjamas are always on.

My mum wandered around in the buff in the mornings when she was getting ready, but that was it. I do the same if i need to nip for a pee or am just out if the shower and trying to find clothes.

Not my parents but I remember sleeping over at a friends (must have been 12/13) and her mum walking around naked! She was putting a load of washing on and had stripped off. I remember my friend being embarrassed because her mum had promised not to when friends were over!
