To hate that Mumsnetters Do This

Everytime someone says something popular opinion on mumsnet disagrees with they are accused of being stupid and uneducated.

You mainly see it on immigration, Europe and political parties.

These people who namecall never actually argue the point but accuse the poster of being uneducated.

Unless mumsnet changes any form of debate on here is going to be boring.

SoozeyHoozey · 17/05/2015 22:52

Thumbs- MN is like the Borg- one giant interlinked collective mind! ;-)

run2 · 17/05/2015 22:54

Single mother cat (SMC) has different priorities. Catsnet is apparently harder to access even for the fortunates, never mind the street cats.

Have you seen much traffic on it recently?

Cats these days are all just copulating then looking for others to look after their offspring. Unless they have a home already, in which case they are putting on fake eyelashes and counting their caviar.

put your foot down Dixie you need to nip this in the bud

crustsaway · 17/05/2015 23:04

In my opinion cats are almost vermin like, theyre very selfish animals and a cull is also needed here.

Anniegetyourgun · 18/05/2015 00:15

I'm completely bewildered by the implication that using humour as a weapon is wrong. It just, well, it just isn't. Great satirists through the ages are celebrated for their wit and acerbity - Dean Swift, Oscar Wilde... geniuses. HIGNFY is on its, what, 657th season or so by now and it runs and runs - why? Because it's rude in a funny way. Look at the popularity of your Simpsons and South Parks, they're up to their eyeballs in vicious humour. There's a massive industry of jokes as criticism and I luffs it. I am not alone in this. Hence the massive industry, see?

So er, what are you on about?

Fairenuff · 18/05/2015 08:17

My cat is definitely the smartest one in our house. We're all heading out to work and she's lazing about. Gets everything provided for her without lifting a paw.

TwerkingSpinster · 18/05/2015 09:21

Its not that humour is wrong, but when it becomes an in-joke pile on from the regulars. Someone mentioned the 'old guard' up thread....cue all the old chums jumping in with a witty derailment of jokes about being generals etc.

Pagwatch · 18/05/2015 09:30

How do you know who are regulars?

Characterising it as a pile on from chums is pretty rude and uniformed.
I recognise a few posters on here but I come here to be entertained - I will talk, laugh debate with anyone.
Many many posters name change so I don't know who I am talking to a lot of the time.

I think you are misinterpreting anyone interacting as chums, seeing it as exclusive.
It isn't.

If you object to my terrible sense of humour I'm afraid that's rather tough. MN, probably fortunately for me, does not dictate about harmless humour.

TwerkingSpinster · 18/05/2015 09:47

Rude, uninformed..... really? When posters are waving, enquiring after each other kittens etc its pretty obvious. I've seen whole threads bombarded with petty jokes to the extent that the debate has been snuffed out entirely.

But that's on line chat isn't it. It's not a debate society and we are on Aibu talking about MN .
If this was politics and we were talking about the resurgence of right wing views impacting the failure of labour , and someone one posted a photo of David Hasslehoff, you might have a point .

But not really on this thread.

exactly, if OP came back I would quite happily speak to her about anything they wanted as long as they didn't carry on being a GF.

and people use humour to stop things from getting out of control. instead of allowing the bunfight to continue have a laugh and a joke and possibly prevent someone getting upset and starting a thread about how awful all the people on here are (conveniently forgetting that they are on here, and everyone who agrees with them are on here Hmm )

Newrule · 18/05/2015 10:51

I'm with the OP.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 18/05/2015 10:53

It's fairly standard on MN for goady fucker threads to be derailed, kittehs is a reasonable way to do it, duck fucking is another option.

Kittehs are prettier though. Wink

HoneyDragon · 18/05/2015 10:55

twerking my heartfelt apologies in that case for having to referred to a previous thread on Mumsnet, on a thread about Mumsnet, on the forum that is Mumsnet.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 18/05/2015 10:59

Why do some dislike the word 'chums'? It's just another word for 'mates', 'pals', 'friends'... or any other? You could insert any.

Jokes are good, joking around is great. It's only fun though if everybody in the room knows the 'rules' and is included. Piggy in the middle was a game that caused enormous trouble in every playground I saw it on. Just saying...

run2 · 18/05/2015 11:00

...? Actually...fucking ducks?..

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 18/05/2015 11:02

Reasons to hate the word Chums:

Ducks are interesting fuckers, they have corkscrew willies.

HoneyDragon · 18/05/2015 11:03

Not some people lying. Just me. I was conversing .... Sorry, it's a bad habit, I keep doing it on chat forums.

fattymcfatfat · 18/05/2015 11:04

I may be imagining this but can a female duck take two penises at a time?

HoneyDragon · 18/05/2015 11:07

gives spit roasted duck a whole new meaning that does

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 18/05/2015 11:08

And from there we can neatly segue into asking is it penises or penii?
