To hate that Mumsnetters Do This

Everytime someone says something popular opinion on mumsnet disagrees with they are accused of being stupid and uneducated.

You mainly see it on immigration, Europe and political parties.

These people who namecall never actually argue the point but accuse the poster of being uneducated.

Unless mumsnet changes any form of debate on here is going to be boring.

ok, my internet has been playing up and now I'm confused. someone help me out here?

I think its a case of crust accusing others of being PA while she is the one being PA and then denying it? am I right?

Bambambini · 17/05/2015 21:23

Such a wide eyed innocent cut loose I in the world with the nasty girls. And you have no idea why folk are growling at you or what you could possibly have done to deserve such treatment. Stop acting so disengenious.

I think all these oblique references to other people are really unpleasant.

ghostyslovesheep · 17/05/2015 21:25

not very kind either

I doubt the OP is bothered to be honest

crustsaway · 17/05/2015 21:26

You are wrong Mary.

People are nasty and judgemental on here sometimes and that was clearly the posters experience.

YANBU OP.

Bambambini · 17/05/2015 21:26

Now folk are making oblique reference about oblique references. This thread is going to eat itself! Grin

run2 · 17/05/2015 21:28

I think you've all fallen into a bit of a, maybe not even intended, trap here.

Fairenuff · 17/05/2015 21:28

Are you not judging others then crusts?

Aermingers · 17/05/2015 21:29

I do know what you mean OP. But I don't think it's unique to Mumsnet, I think that it's just life these days.

I really do think there is sonething in the concept of groupthink.

I agree with an earlier post which said that this is a discussion forum so you can expect a wide cross section of views. However there does seem to be a wedge of people who share a pretty uniform set of views who would quite cheerfully see Mumsnet (and society as a whole) turned into a place where nobody ever goes outside the uniform set of beliefs they believe people should hold.

It's quite predictable. In summary, all immigration is marvellous, the Labour Party = good, Greens = brilliant, left = good, right = bad, the EU is amazing, the welfare system is fantastic, has never been subject to any sort of misuse and welfare dependency is always positive. Tories are nasty and want to throw Grannies off cliffs and kill babies while selling the NHS to Rupert Murdoch for 20p. The Guardian and BBC are bastions of unbiased reporting. Anybody who doesn't agree with them is a thicko who has been brainwashed by the right wing press. It is tedious.

I especially love the fact many of them will complain about said right wing brainwashing until the cows came home. But if the Guardian came out tomorrow and said that sellotaping a bed spring to your forehead and painting your bum orange and purple stripes was the latest trend, then by Tuesday Hampstead and Islington would be wall to wall multi coloured backsides.

Mintyy · 17/05/2015 21:29

NO! Crusty is lovely, can you not see? There must be something wrong with you Fairenuff if you don't get it.

crustsaway · 17/05/2015 21:30

I have no idea what oblique references are?
I also have no idea why being kind about a person is being judgemental?

usualsuspect333 · 17/05/2015 21:33

I don't live in London, nor do I read the guardian.

Anyway this thread is fucking tedious. In fact most of MN is fucking dull these days.

run2 · 17/05/2015 21:35

I don't live in London. I sometimes read the Guardian, but sometimes just for laffs.

ilovesooty · 17/05/2015 21:35

The oblique references to 1) a certain person 2) a lot of you 3) one of the nasties

I would have thought that was pretty clear.

Fairenuff · 17/05/2015 21:37

I don't live in London. But I do like the idea of multicoloured bottoms. Will it catch on with the rest of the uk do you think?

usualsuspect333 · 17/05/2015 21:37

And if someone disagrees with you on a thread it makes you look stupid if you start a thread whining about the whole of MN.

crustsaway · 17/05/2015 21:38

I live in London. I love living here. I don't read the newspapers. Im a fan of immigration. Not sure what you mean usual?

usualsuspect333 · 17/05/2015 21:40

I was answering someone elses post. It's not all about you, crustsaway.

Fairenuff · 17/05/2015 21:40

sooty unless a poster refers to me by name, I would never get that they mean me if they group me into 1) a certain person 2) a lot of you 3) one of the nasties. I always think they're talking about someone else Grin

BuzzardBird · 17/05/2015 21:40

I fell down the stairs once and had a multicoloured bottom. Not in London either.

fattymcfatfat · 17/05/2015 21:42

I fall down the stairs quite often, so my bum is all sorts of pretty colours.
I'm not in London either.

run2 · 17/05/2015 21:43

I don't live in London, but if the bed springs thing came to fruition I would applaud and support you all telekinetically. I would refer to you all as 'my bed spring sisters' males alike, and threaten to thwart the family crest of any who opposed my devotion.

I would definitely be in the right and none of you could say otherwise.

crusty - for what it's worth, I don't get why you're being hassled here either, but then who does really?

ilovesooty · 17/05/2015 21:43

Exactly Fairenuff

All these references are very unpleasant, and the first one is just bizarre. It's as though crustsaway expects us to know who she's talking about.
