Without even trying I usually eat 10+ portions a day, I just can't think how anyone doesn't have at least 5 a day.

Today ive had
oats with kiwi and banana
Apple to snack
Chicken pasta with tomatoes, courgette, onion garlic peppers mushrooms (3 portions at least)
Greek salad tomatoes, cucumber, avocado Basil red onion

And now currently snacking on carrots and humous

Well, probably shouldn't admit to it but a couple of my favourite snacks right now are :
Dry cat food biscuits ( Applaws chicken with extra duck ) - handful at a time
Frost or ice -scraped from the inside of the freezer using a knife or spoon. Also partial to ice cubes, any size or shape, anytime, to crunch.
I am not joking. I really eat these things, and enjoy them. ( Think it is a form of pica ). I only occasionally eat 5 a day fruit and veg, more like 2 I think, on a good day. Anyway isn't fruit too high in sugar and should be mainly veg ?

Sallystyle · 19/05/2015 21:43

I hate fruit.

I only like red cabbage, roasted peppers and carrots.

That is why.

Today I had

1 slice of toast, half a cheese sandwich and quiche with new potatoes.

I don't usually even eat until tea time but had to eat today as I was working and I need some energy.

My children are served more fruit and veg than I eat and my dh eats loads. They are fine.

My diet is a bit shit really.

Sallystyle · 19/05/2015 21:43

I should add that I do eat more veg if they are in sauces.

I get most of my veg that way.

wurlycurly · 19/05/2015 21:54

Lots of different types of fruit and veg going into your diet doesn't necessarily add up to lots of PORTIONS of fruit and veg. One kiwi a portion does not make: you'd need two or three. 90 (ninety!) blueberries a portion make. A portion of chicken pasta that contained three TRUE portions of veg would be enough to immobilise most people. I look at the day diet and see 5 portions, not ten.
I have to make an effort to get five a day? Mainly fruit is cheating. Also isn't the five-a-day debunked as quasi-science? And the only sector that really benefits from lots of veg are women who drink too much. So they say. Pass the tomatoes.
