Without even trying I usually eat 10+ portions a day, I just can't think how anyone doesn't have at least 5 a day.

Today ive had
oats with kiwi and banana
Apple to snack
Chicken pasta with tomatoes, courgette, onion garlic peppers mushrooms (3 portions at least)
Greek salad tomatoes, cucumber, avocado Basil red onion

And now currently snacking on carrots and humous

osmi not sure if you can count crabbies ginger beer = ginger? Perhaps not strictly a fruit or veg but proven health benifits right?

BumpAndGrind · 19/05/2015 15:37

A Nked bar is a dessert?

I feel sorry for you.

SummerHouse · 19/05/2015 15:39

cheesy love that image. Today I have had two bags of (dare I say it)..... pom bears!

SummerHouse · 19/05/2015 15:44

.......

But nked bars are bursting with yummy goodness. Grin

Damnautocorrect · 19/05/2015 15:45

I just can't afford fruit, I live on toast for breakfast and lunch. I do pack dinner with vegetables as they are cheap and don't go off quickly. But I don't ever come close just through a cost fact

D0oinMeCleanin · 19/05/2015 15:46

Nked bars are also £££. Dd1 likes them.

LotusLight · 19/05/2015 15:47

nked bars are a processed food.
Obviously people can eat what they like but if they are short of money and time then eat nothing between dinner and lunch for a start. Lunch can be a tin of sardines or tuna.

Anyway each to their own. 60% of British people are over weight and it causes no end of health problems.

AmyElliotDunne · 19/05/2015 15:50

I'm loving all the secret biscuit snaffling going on behind our DCs' backs while we cram fruit and veg into them!

I made fairy cakes for after school snack and put loads of sultanas in them to make me feel better. I know we'd all prefer chocolate chips but I didn't have any I thought I should make some effort after reading all this!

My Wagamama lunch had some mange touts, peppers and possibly some beansprouty things too, but probably only 1/2 a portions worth.

So I ate 3 sultana buns.

D0oinMeCleanin · 19/05/2015 15:54

I think Nked bars are just squashed fruits and nuts aren't they? I don't think they are overly processed.

They're not that nice though, 9 bars otoh...

Would people really eat a tin of tuna for lunch? I don't think that's any healthier than a sarnie and it would certainly be me no use to me since after lunch I then walk the dc to where ever they need to be, walk hom, walk the dogs and then walk to work for an 8 hours shift. Only a mental person would try to do that on a tin of tuna.

I would imagine most people need more than a tin of fish for lunch.

SummerHouse · 19/05/2015 15:56

I am currently eyeing the fruit bowl in a potential pom bear penance attempt.

CheesyDibbles · 19/05/2015 16:01

The satsuma I abandoned in favour of chocolate buttons is still sitting on the kitchen counter. I may eat it yet.

DidoTheDodo · 19/05/2015 16:19

Chocolate Orange. Two.

MummyPig24 · 19/05/2015 18:24

I only get my 5 a day because I am on slimming world. Before that I would probably have 2 or 3 and eat a lot of shit whilst making sure the kids got their 5 a day and not caring about myself.

Today I've eaten:
Marmite on toast
Banana
Raspberries
Carrots
Homous
Yogurt
Thai green chicken curry with mange tout, peppers and rice

And that's only just scraping into the 5 a day because I didn't have breakfast. It's really easy not to eat 5 a day.

agentEgypt · 19/05/2015 18:43

Why is it ok for someone to go on about all the crap they eat? But not ok for someone to talk about the healthy food they eat? double standards.

Yawn @ all the wine and chocolate orange jokes.

DidoTheDodo · 19/05/2015 19:04

Oh sorry agentEgypt, are we keeping you up?
Maybe potter off to a less lighthearted thread if you don't like this one.
Oh and...CHOCOLATE ORANGE. ;)

PHANTOMnamechanger · 19/05/2015 19:05

agentegypt i think the point is, it's OK for anyone to talk about what they eat, whether "healthy" or "less than ideal". It is not, however, OK for people to be sanctimonious and brag about how wonderful their diet is and how pathetic everyone else is for not trying hard enough to be as good as them. Different budgets, different upbringing, lack of own transport or access to good shops or market, different time pressures and responsibilities, not to mention dealing with SNs/texture issues etc, or food allergies, mean that not all people can access the same variety of foods in the first place.

myneighbourtotoro2 · 19/05/2015 19:20

I don't because I rarely eat three meals a day never mind snack. I couldn't give a toss about what anybody else eats and I find it bizarre that it interests others.

CheesyDibbles · 19/05/2015 19:23

agentEgypt, this thread has cheered me up no end. Have some Wine

SummerHouse · 19/05/2015 19:49

agent I don't think the op meant offence in any way. However I am running a marathon in September. I don't start a thread wondering why everyone else does not have the time, energy, inclination to do it. I also have a healthy diet that also incorporates unhealthy food and I will show off about it. Did I mention my two packs of pom bears? Smile

agentEgypt · 19/05/2015 20:37

Well seeing as food is the biggest cause of preventable deaths in this country I don't take it to be very lighthearted. My father died last year (pancreatic cancer) and I firmly put the blame on his new wife and the awful diet that she gave him for the last few years.

So go on have your giggles of living off crisps and chocolate. Hope your family don't have to suffer with the pain if it catches up with you.

PHANTOMnamechanger · 19/05/2015 20:43

agent, my FIL died of pancreatic cancer too and I am sorry for your loss, but please don't be bitter and blame his wife. He did not get that "all of a sudden". FIL was fit and strong and active and ate very healthily, drank very little (special occasions only). From him first feeling ill to dying it was less than a year. It was less than 6 months from diagnosis. Pancreatic cancer is very hard to diagnose and often, once correctly diagnosed it is too late to treat, with a very poor survival rate.

FresherThanYou · 19/05/2015 20:54

I've never counted my portions, as pp said you'd have to weigh it for it to be a proper portion.
As an aside, I see lots of people have a tea and a supper. What's that about I never heard that?? Sounds good though Grin

TheCatsMother99 · 19/05/2015 20:58

I'm not saying I'm proud of eating sh*t like KFC but I shouldt be shamed in to feeling bad that I don't have the time to eat 10 types of veg a day!!

QueenofallIsee · 19/05/2015 21:19

Its a chore to do it cos its a faff to prepare. i eat mostly crap and i am well aware of it though not proud of it

Oat Granola with yoghurt and strawberries
4 digestives
Umpteen black coffees
Tinned salmon, cucumber and ryvita (lost the bread, still a mystery)
handful cherries

yesterday i ate nowt but a duck chow mein and chips. meh.

CheesyDibbles · 19/05/2015 21:29

Sorry for your loss agent, I am also sorry that my post may have upset you. I think there has been a reaction to an op that came across as very smug. I care about my health and I'm sure most people here do too, but I also have the habit of falling of the food wagon with a huge thump, I deal with it by joking about it.
