About the minimum number of bacon rashers per sandwich?

Informed Dh I had bought a second pack of bacon for tomorrow's breakfast, as if we want two sandwiches each 8 rashers was not enough.

He stated that two rashers per sandwich is enough. I claim that three, minimum, is an acceptable amount.

He says I'm wasteful. I say there's no sense in eating a sandwich that is more bread than filling, especially where bacon is concerned.

Who is BU? Grin

Puntastic! I just read your post. About the Stilton and onion marmalade on a. Bacon sandwich. I was crying with laughter so much that I've read it out to dh and ds1. The three of us are in bits!
Have to say I totally agree I love Stilton but not on a bacon sarnie.
Mine is two thick cut, dry cure butchers rashers on fresh warburtons White bread with butter and brown sauce. I also like an english muffin with one slice of bacon a poached egg, cheese slice and brown sauce a bit like McD's but much better.

Chocolateorangegirl · 16/05/2015 12:49

We have 3 rashers (less would be a travesty)
Unsmoked back bacon
Warburtons toastie bread
Butter and ketchup
Cup of tea from a pot on the side
Perfection Grin

3 rashers to fill the bread. 2, barely worth bothering.
In fact I had a tradesman in earlier and got into a tizz as I couldn't offer bacon sarnies as it would only have been 2 rashers each.

ZeddyByeBye · 16/05/2015 12:59

A good bacon sarnie needs at least 3 rashers. I like mine with brown sauce.

WaitingForEgg · 16/05/2015 13:07

3
2 is a bit stingy.
DH likes unsmoked... I think smoked is better... any thoughts?
I am now trying to decide if I prefer bacon or sausage sandwiches...

We love the M&S outdoor reared smoked back bacon, grilled till crisp, in (real butter) buttered fresh white bread, just butter for me and dd, ketchup for dh. 2 rashers per sandwich laid top to toe and it's perfect!

We also love M&S outdoor reared streaky bacon, grilled till very crispy but that is served with pancakes and maple syrup. In fact I am about to make this for dd right now for lunch. I am on a cut-back so I will be having soup and oatcakes with a sliver of cheese

I notice a lot of you mention frying the bacon? I NEVER, EVER fry bacon or sausages, always always always grill them - you get a far crispier result that way. I do very occassionally cook sausages, esp cocktail ones in the oven though.

So.....where do you stand on frying or grilling?

PacificDogwood · 16/05/2015 13:28

We just had 14 rashers between 5 of us.
How v average of us Grin

Grilling, never frying.

I judge people who are stingy with sandwich fillings if they're not skint.

Just coming back to this thread, thanks to it I have enjoyed bacon butties every morning this week-2 well done slices of bacon in each small wholemeal roll.
Now I want one with stilton in-mmmmmm

Lozzapops · 17/05/2015 12:58

I am currently eating a bacon sandwich. 3 rashers, although the fat has been cut off. No butter. Ketchup. Warburtons toastie bread. Bacon fried, then the bread placed into the pan to soak up the fat, yummy!

CatchIt · 17/05/2015 13:43

Obviously it has to be streaky bacon, minimum of 4, no maximum, chopped up for evenness & tommy k. It's essential to dip crusts in the leftover bacon fat in the pan.

That's the only way to have a bacon sandwich. Fact.

KoalaDownUnder · 17/05/2015 15:27

I can't remember the last time I had a bacon sandwich. Many years, anyway.

I want one so badly after reading this thread. And it is 10:30 pm on a Sunday. Sad

SoleSource · 17/05/2015 15:34

Minimum 3, maximum 5.

Daddies sauce, grilled tomato or fried egg.

crusty bread, butter.

Welshmaenad · 17/05/2015 16:09

Always, always smoked.

I think DH would leave me if I bought unsmoked bacon. I bought an unsmoked gammon joint by mistake one and the desolation on his face was heartbreaking.
