About the minimum number of bacon rashers per sandwich?

Informed Dh I had bought a second pack of bacon for tomorrow's breakfast, as if we want two sandwiches each 8 rashers was not enough.

He stated that two rashers per sandwich is enough. I claim that three, minimum, is an acceptable amount.

He says I'm wasteful. I say there's no sense in eating a sandwich that is more bread than filling, especially where bacon is concerned.

Who is BU? Grin

This is all that needs to be said on this matter.

3 minimum, ideally 4.
2 is just mean and ends up with loads of excess breadx

WilburIsSomePig · 10/05/2015 16:36

Soft white bread
Real butter
Smidge of HP sauce
3 slices of smoked back bacon
1 fried tattie scone
1 fried egg
1 packet of Rennie Smile

Streaky bacon, bacon burnt crisped up, smoked bacon - all vile and should be banned.
White bread, butter, 3 back slices with no excess fat (texture all wrong) and ketchup. Sometimes replace the ketchup with Stilton and some onion marmalade. In that case, and only that case, granary bread works.

Welshmaenad · 10/05/2015 18:55

That bacon weave looks immense.

No fat? Stilton? Onion pigging marmalade? GRANARY fucking BREAD?

Fuck off to the far side of fuck and when you get there, fuck off some more. That is NOT a bacon sandwich. I don't know what the fuck it is, and I don't want to, but it is NOT a fucking bacon sandwich.

Wink

2 sandwiches each? So, four slices of bread? Good lord! 2 rashers works perfectly laid out top to toe so as to maximise bacon to bread contact.

A "double decker", using 3 slices of buttered bread middle slice buttered both sides btw and a minimum of 3-4 slices of thick back bacon per deck (bacon laid lengthways on 1 deck, then across the other deck).

Foreverlurking · 11/05/2015 07:59

3 minimum (extra crispy) white bread, with a fried egg.

If you're going for a bacon sandwich no point being all healthy about it.

happyhearts7 · 11/05/2015 13:35

As a Scout leader, Scout wife & Scout mummy I would say one can never have too much bacon Grin

BingBunnyIsAKnob · 11/05/2015 14:26

Don't go bacon my heart, I couldn't if I friiieed Grin

Izzy24 · 11/05/2015 14:31

Well lunch was nice. Smile

TeacherMummyWhichever · 11/05/2015 14:33

3 minimum with lots of butter... Preferably in a crusty white roll :-)

hellsbellsmelons · 11/05/2015 14:53

Oh no - a nice soft bap for me.
And you MUST have brown sauce with bacon butties!
Simples.

MalletsMallet · 11/05/2015 15:13

For lunch I had a BLM made with 2 slices of brown nimble, 5 thin cut bacon medallions, lettuce and 1 tbs mayo (5 syns).

T'was not the best way to eat bacon I admit but for slimming world it weren't half bad Smile

Before SW I would have had a minimum of 4 rashers, more if using streaky bacon, white bread coated in real butter and ketchup galore! That's probably why I'm now on slimming world Grin

Grinning at the memory of. Michael Mckintyre routine "BLT- bread , lettuce and tomato? G&T- glass and tonic......"

MiscellaneousAssortment · 12/05/2015 01:25

What is the appeal of streaky bacon? I am genuinely puzzled?!

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 12/05/2015 04:20

For me, there is none unless it's fried to shatter-levels. Then it's ok.

maninawomansworld · 12/05/2015 18:30

Back bacon - 3 minimum, preferably 4.

Streaky - 4 minimum, preferably 5.

If there is a good sized egg on there or some black pud then you can get away with 1 rasher less (although I always maintain the bacon quota if I can).

Bacon sandwiches are my fave and I'd be most put out at only 2 rashers!! WTF?

DoctorTwo · 12/05/2015 19:19

The point of streaky bacon is that it tastes better than back due to the fat running through it.

Stitchintime1 · 13/05/2015 20:12

I think streaky bacon only works in a lattice pattern across turkey. In a sandwich, not so good.

KissMyFatArse · 13/05/2015 20:19

Foreverlurking that is the piece of the gods!

MiscellaneousAssortment · 14/05/2015 23:41

Ah maybe I've not had properly cooked streaky.

Flobbery veins of fat that flop over your tongue and make you gag. Ugh!

Or bits that stretch out stringily and gelatinously as you take a bite of a sandwich. Shudders.

That's my official write up of Starbucks range of bacon crepes and paninis. It had been years since I set foot in one and went to a couple of bad news health appointments recently where a Starbucks was placed temptingly besides the hospital... As a stuff yourself treat, they leave a lot to be desired! All I wanted was a bacon sarnie :( grrr!

Gralick · 15/05/2015 01:09

I've just got my emergency bacon out of the freezer :)

There will be 4 rashers in my sarnie tomorrow morning. And an egg!

SonceyD0g · 15/05/2015 09:14

Proper bacon from a pig that has been slow grown not factory farmed. Back bacon properly butchered from this animal about a third of it will be fat. You only need 2 slices as it won't shrink When being cooked. Most bacon from supermarkets has water added to it which is why you need more slices. A crusty roll with butter and a splash of ketchup. Lovely! Especially when you're camping.

AugustRose · 15/05/2015 09:50

In this house it's 3 with an egg, 4 without - but with 6 of us that's a lot of bacon. Oh and just butter for me, the rest insist on ketchup.
