About the minimum number of bacon rashers per sandwich?

Welshmaenad · 09/05/2015 23:14

Informed Dh I had bought a second pack of bacon for tomorrow's breakfast, as if we want two sandwiches each 8 rashers was not enough.

He stated that two rashers per sandwich is enough. I claim that three, minimum, is an acceptable amount.

He says I'm wasteful. I say there's no sense in eating a sandwich that is more bread than filling, especially where bacon is concerned.

Who is BU? Grin

Depends on the thickness of the bread the thicker the bread the more slices of bacon you need or it's just too bready for medium warburtons 3 minimum but prefer 4 or 5 but for warburtons toastie 6 is good!

Koalafications · 09/05/2015 23:27

Ketchup or butter?!

What kind of madness is this? Of course you use both. Why would you choose?!

RatOnnaStick · 09/05/2015 23:27

Dh informs me 4 minimum, 3 at a push Greedy fucker but then he tried to qualify it with questions about the type of bread product, size and thickness of bacon etc.

I dont really like bacon. I'd rather have just toast.

Stinkersmum · 09/05/2015 23:27

Depends on the cut of bacon. 2 x Smoked middle rind on, plus 2 or 3 streaky, or at least 3 back. Smoked rind on again. Seriously, why do people cut the fat off meat?? The bread has to be white and the sauce has to be brown. Daddies, not HP. And no fucking ketchup.

Pigriver · 09/05/2015 23:27

2 and an egg if in a bap, more depending on bap size, at least 3 in bread.
MIL does 3 bacon, 2 sausage and an egg in a bap Smile I am sure it is her way of making sure we visit ever week!

I feel like I used the words sandwich and sambo a lot of times in that post Blush

Welshmaenad · 09/05/2015 23:27

Butter, proper butter, and not stingily spread.

Though at risk of being hounded off my own thread as a baconwich deviant, I really like that Heinz curry sauce stuff on them as well.

Not tiny bread, just have massive rashers Grin - which now sounds like some sort of innuendo.

Salmotrutta · 09/05/2015 23:27

Minimum 3 slices.

Absolute minimum.

Your DH is very unreasonable.

LTB

Welshmaenad · 09/05/2015 23:29

Back, streaky bacon is not for sandwiches. It's from the butcher so it's quite thick cut. Smoked, obviously.

I could kill for abacon sandwich now & we have none in.

3 rashers of back bacon for me. I remove every scrap of fat/rind.

mrsmeerkat · 09/05/2015 23:29

Humanjam... you need to live a little Grin

I would say three but my dh is like your man - if I cook something special or even if I add butter to mash he says 'oh no. Too luxurious'

Today I made him fresh coffee and amareto sugar and he said it was too extravagant. Oh dear

ratspeaker · 09/05/2015 23:29

Zero

Im vegetarian

DH on the other handreckons it depends on if its supermarket bacon or from the local butcher. Seems the proper butcher stuff doesnt shrink as much

WorraLiberty · 09/05/2015 23:30

2 rashers per sandwich here unless it's really paper thin, and then 3.

Hakluyt · 09/05/2015 23:31

People put butter on bacon sandwiches........Shock

Passmethecrisps · 09/05/2015 23:31

Brown sauce.

No fat.

Butter

Passmethecrisps · 09/05/2015 23:32

Spread really. Not actually butter

Stinkersmum · 09/05/2015 23:32

Shock at people that don't put butter on bacon sandwiches....

BadgersArse · 09/05/2015 23:32

3

SwedishEdith · 09/05/2015 23:33

Proper butcher's smoked back bacon here, thick slices feeling need to defend being a two-slicer

Why do people remove the fat?

HopOnTheMonnerBus · 09/05/2015 23:33

2 if I'm making it for anyone else.

3 for me but I cut the fat off and have it on a bap. DH gets my spare fat so I suppose he almost gets 3.

Add an egg and loads of butter and I'm a happy bunny.

Or even better, have it on crusty fresh bread on the decking outside the caravan on holiday early in the morning before everyone else is up. Bliss.

Passmethecrisps · 09/05/2015 23:33

Because it feels like eating worms

Stinkersmum · 09/05/2015 23:34

No idea about the fat removal. Might as well just have toast....

DurhamDurham · 09/05/2015 23:34

Is it too late to knock on my neighbours door to 'borrow' some bacon?

It would seem we ate all ours this morning and now I have a craving for a big fat four slice bacon sandwich.

AtiaoftheJulii · 09/05/2015 23:34

At least 3. Four is lovely. Two is too bready. I only have butter if my mum's made the sandwich - I do like it but would never put it on myself! And I'm a ketchup person.
