About the minimum number of bacon rashers per sandwich?

Informed Dh I had bought a second pack of bacon for tomorrow's breakfast, as if we want two sandwiches each 8 rashers was not enough.

He stated that two rashers per sandwich is enough. I claim that three, minimum, is an acceptable amount.

He says I'm wasteful. I say there's no sense in eating a sandwich that is more bread than filling, especially where bacon is concerned.

Who is BU? Grin

Pengweng · 10/05/2015 10:07

Ooooh and I am quite partial to a bacon and cream cheese bagel. This is making me hungry and i already ate pancakes for breakfast

Million, they sell curry ketchup in Iceland. Recently rediscovered after loving it in my yoof!

Just bacon - 3 rashers

Bacon and egg - 2 rashers and 1 egg

Simples.

AlpacaPicnic · 10/05/2015 10:53

GG - I made that bacon weave once. It was amazing and I am now spoiled for life. I won't eat bacon unless I've cooked it because nobody else makes it the way I like it...

Biscetti · 10/05/2015 10:53

Streaky dry cured, crispy, but not too crispy, in crusty, heavily buttered white bread. 4-5 slices. Not fussed if it's smoked or unsmoked.

Totality22 · 10/05/2015 10:57

I cut the fat off of mine so need minimum 3 but ideally 4. In a roll 2 is fine.

pressone · 10/05/2015 10:59

Proper bread, sliced at home, one side buttered then scored with knife, sauce/relish of your choice on the buttered slice so extra sauce fills the scored grooves.
Other slice spread/dribbled with the hot bacon fat from the pan (or if it is the last slice mop up all remaining hot bacon fat directly from pan).

No of slices - this is dependent on the bread to bacon ratio, back bacon from supermarket cut so thinly you can see through it - 4. Proper thick bacon from the butchers or farm shop so large that you could use any left overs from cooking (no chance at ours) as soles for your shoes. Two (with egg) or three without - they must overhang the bread on all sides so you may get a bite of bacon with no bread, but never a bite of bread with no bacon.

it's very simple.

BlacknWhitePanda · 10/05/2015 11:04

It depends if you've been drinking the night before you need at least a full pack per sarnie with an egg thrown in.
Otherwise we are a 3/4 rasher house

Koalafications · 10/05/2015 11:10

In the interest of research I have had a bacon sandwich for breakfast, and I can report back that this is the perfect combination...

6 rashers of streaky bacon
Fresh baked bread roll
Butter (Lurpack)
Ketchup

It was heaven.

Stitchintime1 · 10/05/2015 12:02

Six rashers! Six! I suppose streaky ones are thin but even so. Six!!!

Germgirl · 10/05/2015 12:36

We have only streaky bacon in this house, it's so much nicer than back bacon. You can crisp it up properly. Anyway, a packet of dry cure streaky is 14 rashers, I make 2 lattice weave things with 12 of the rashers & cook the other 2 separately, so we have 6 rashers per sandwich each and a further rashers on top as a garnish :)
Butter and ketchup of course, white bread.
DH has his toasted, which is of course deeply wrong.

ASorcererIsAWizardSquared · 10/05/2015 12:42

if its just bacon, 3 or four, or its not worth it.

If its got sausage or egg on it, 2 is fine.

With a big glass of Tropicana. But I have no bacon in the house.

Shodan · 10/05/2015 12:55

See, I don't get the egg-in-bread thing at all.

I love runny eggs. I love bread. I love bacon. All good.

But stick that runny egg in the bread and I come over all peculiar. Maybe it's the potential drippingness. I dunno.

However. Back to the main point.

Minimum 3 rashers, butter and yes, for preference, fresh white bread. But faced with a choice between no bacon sarnie and a less-then-perfect one on sliced brown bread, I'll opt for the latter. Very occasionally I go mad and have brown sauce with it. But that's rare, tbh.

irretating · 10/05/2015 13:37

3 or 4, with a bacon sandwich, no with any meat sandwich you need a good thick layer of meat otherwise you might as well just be eating bread and butter.

FryOneFatManic · 10/05/2015 13:44

2 rashers for a bacon roll, or at least 3 rashers in a sandwich. With ketchup.

Smoked for preference, but I've not found any decent smoked bacon recently, it's all been over salted stuff with no smoke flavour in sight. Sad

ClumsyNinja · 10/05/2015 13:47

Had lunch at friend's a couple of days ago.

Irish rashers (Bacon) on fresh bagels spread with cream cheese.

OH. MY. GOD! Grin

myusernameisusername · 10/05/2015 13:52

7 each sandwich

myusernameisusername · 10/05/2015 14:15

Just made bacon sandwiches for me and DH now Grin i got 3 rashers DH got 4 because i love him Grin and im not ravenous like he is

Lilylonglegs · 10/05/2015 15:15

shadows butter and ketchup are not mutually exclusive! Why not both?

SoupDragon · 10/05/2015 15:18

If there are only two, they must be thick cut rashers.

Butter, no sauce.
