To be thoroughly pissed off they called the new Royal Baby "Charlotte".

Because now I'll have to endure idiots asking if I named my DD1 (4 months old) after the Princess and my DD's name, which was chosen with care because it is traditional and classic, is going to suddenly become "super popular" with the masses.

It happened for the first time yesterday admittedly she was an American tourist who was admiring my PFB I was asked "Did you name her after the new Royal baby?" No, she's 4 months old you cretin

Why couldn't they have called her something original like "Pasturella Venus" or Channel (deliberately spelt wrong)-Beyonce?

FFS! Angry

Shorten it to Lottie

poocatcherchampion · 04/05/2015 16:57

We had a Georgina about a month after George was born and not a single person has wondered whether it was because of. And I dont know any other Georges or Georginas.

VelvetRose · 04/05/2015 17:02

SeaUnicorns, op has already offered a very self effacing, humorous response acknowledging that she is bu. I don't think a forensic deconstruction of her posts to make her out to be some sort of nitwit is really necessary!

steff13 · 04/05/2015 17:07

Well I am pissed off because my cousin is called Charlotte and you stole it and used it for your child.

My great-aunt was called Charlotte, and she was born in 1933, so all the Charlottes who came after her are copying her. Smile

I actually wanted to name our daughter Charlotte Elizabeth, but my husband vetoed Charlotte, because he said it reminded him of the band Good Charlotte. Hmm

Graciescotland · 04/05/2015 17:11

I know how you feel, I've named my 7wo Charlotte too.

6Musiclover · 04/05/2015 17:16

Charlotte is dull. Hardly unusual either. They're ten a penny where I live.

Morelikeguidelines · 04/05/2015 17:21

My mum had the same problem having called my little brother William a few years before the prince.

My brother still had his hair though

LottieMumofWilfJenkins · 04/05/2015 17:22

My Mum's response when she heard the name was "They share my good taste in first names!!" Grin

PatsyPasta · 04/05/2015 17:23

My SIL is a Charlotte. Very common name. What's wrong with the name Consuela Banana Hammock?

People asked us if we named our 8 week old after the fella who was twatted by Jeremy Clarkson. Of all the people you'd name a kid after! (And no, he's a mythological Irish character and it's spelled with an accent in Irish anyway)

CookPassBabtrigde · 04/05/2015 17:28

which was chosen with care because it is traditional and classic, is going to suddenly become "super popular" with the masses.

Sorry to break it to you, but it's not exactly an unusual name.. I know loads of Charlottes of all ages...
I have to admit though I'm slightly meh.. I was hoping for a Princess Alice!
At least you didn't pick 'Bunny' and then have Katie Price steal your thunder.. Wink

Szeli · 04/05/2015 17:28

Prince George has half my DS name, he's 3 months older so folk at first weren't sure on the age gap as I had a mini boy.

We had one 'incredulous' tweet about it Wink and that was that. I knew a Prince was due and I adored the (very likely Prince's) name but put it as a middle name to avoid such comparisons - most folk are over it now tho.

I just wish I gambled: I predicted George Louis for the first with Alexandria for a girl. We got George Alexander Louis and the second I predicted would have the middle names Elizabeth - after Kate, Carole, Queen & QM and Diana. Darn could do with the cash!

I have a 12 year old Charlotte ??

SundayBea · 04/05/2015 17:33

YANBU OP I wouldn't have liked it either but FWIW I bet your DD will absolutely love sharing her name with a princess when she's old enough to understand Smile

26Point2Miles · 04/05/2015 17:33

I've also got a 'grotty lotty' ... She's delighted the princess is named after her!

Crocodopolis · 04/05/2015 17:34

My apologies - my post was out of order. I've asked MNHQ to delete it.

CookPassBabtrigde · 04/05/2015 17:36

Haha, quiet it doesn't make sense anyway because Bunny was born ages ago! But it could be worse, is all I'm saying, if you'd had similar taste to a different Kate! Grin

Dumpylump · 04/05/2015 17:38

Well, op has been quite gracious now, so no need to be stroppy about it, but a quick google shows Charlotte as number 17 in the top 100 names for 2014, so already super popular with the masses Smile

CookPassBabtrigde · 04/05/2015 17:38

Agree with Sunday aswell, your dd may grow up and be delighted that she has a princess name :)

BingBong36 · 04/05/2015 17:40

Charlotte is a very popular name
