To be thoroughly pissed off they called the new Royal Baby "Charlotte".

Because now I'll have to endure idiots asking if I named my DD1 (4 months old) after the Princess and my DD's name, which was chosen with care because it is traditional and classic, is going to suddenly become "super popular" with the masses.

It happened for the first time yesterday admittedly she was an American tourist who was admiring my PFB I was asked "Did you name her after the new Royal baby?" No, she's 4 months old you cretin

Why couldn't they have called her something original like "Pasturella Venus" or Channel (deliberately spelt wrong)-Beyonce?

FFS! Angry

You should write to them and complain. You deserve restitution!

SolomanDaisy · 04/05/2015 15:44

Are you not one of the masses then? Presumably you belong to some sort of global elite? Or are you actually worried that people who shop one supermarket down from you are going to use the same name?

passmethewineplease · 04/05/2015 15:44

YABU.

Who cares?

SeaUnicorns · 04/05/2015 15:45

Well they're probably thinking why couldn't have called your little darling " hot chocolate sweet cheeks"

There were charlottes before your daughter their will be ones after the princess, some maybe because of the princess others may not.

And do ask the American tourist for the lottery numbers next time as the name wasn't announced yesterday!

MissingYouSoMuch · 04/05/2015 15:45

DH had to get up and find an excuse to walk away

Over reaction much Hmm

WorraLiberty · 04/05/2015 15:45

In your OP you say, "I was asked "Did you name her after the new Royal baby?"

Then you changed it to "and she asked if I'd chosen Charlotte because the Royals were considering it."

Not sure which it was?

Either way, Charlotte is a pretty common name so I doubt you'll get too many people commenting.

ilovesooty · 04/05/2015 15:46

And as others said it's hardly a very unusual or exclusive name is it?

annieowl · 04/05/2015 15:46

Charlotte and George have been in the UK top ten for at least the last ten years (haven't they?)

Ffs if you are going to get this ariated about someone using the same name, you should have called your dd something a bit less popular

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 04/05/2015 15:47

Change it to Britney-Bob.

It's got a ring to it, don't you think?

ilovesooty · 04/05/2015 15:47

Like Ether.

Massiveaggressive · 04/05/2015 15:47

Interesting back track there OP!

madreloco · 04/05/2015 15:48

As if anyone cares what or why you named your baby a perfectly normal name!
There are loads of people wittering on about this...is it just an inflated sense of their own importance or what?

ilovesooty · 04/05/2015 15:48

Ethel or Mildred.

shewept · 04/05/2015 15:48

Well I am pissed off because my cousin is called Charlotte and you stole it and used it for your child.

A friend called her son olaf, now because of frozen he gets ' oh Olaf the snowman' he is four so not named after the frozen character and she isn't bothered.

KoalaDownUnder · 04/05/2015 15:49

Your husband sounds like a complete drama queen.

shewept · 04/05/2015 15:49

So she didn't ask if you named her after the royal baby then? Yabu

ilovesooty · 04/05/2015 15:50

Koala they sound well suited.

shewept · 04/05/2015 15:51

I missed the bit about the dh walking away. I really hope the op is joking.

grovel · 04/05/2015 15:51

It'll get shortened to Charlie anyway.

To please her grandfather.

HuftysTrain · 04/05/2015 15:52

Isn't Charlotte already quite a "popular" name? Confused

PtolemysNeedle · 04/05/2015 15:52

You at bing ridiculous. It's not like Charlotte was an unusual name four months ago, there are four in the tiny school I work in.

iHAVEtogetoutofhere · 04/05/2015 15:54

But Charlotte is a really common name already?
Loads of them about.

Change your baby's name by deed poll to 'Shar-Lot' - that'll do it Grin

If you liked the name before then it makes no difference, surely?

KoalaDownUnder · 04/05/2015 15:55

sooty, you are not wrong Hmm
