To be thoroughly pissed off they called the new Royal Baby "Charlotte".

Because now I'll have to endure idiots asking if I named my DD1 (4 months old) after the Princess and my DD's name, which was chosen with care because it is traditional and classic, is going to suddenly become "super popular" with the masses.

It happened for the first time yesterday admittedly she was an American tourist who was admiring my PFB I was asked "Did you name her after the new Royal baby?" No, she's 4 months old you cretin

Why couldn't they have called her something original like "Pasturella Venus" or Channel (deliberately spelt wrong)-Beyonce?

FFS! Angry

We've got our share of clueless twits here in the US, unfortunately. On particularly cynical days I think we've got more than our share. Sorry you had to encounter one.

HuftysTrain · 04/05/2015 16:09

To be kind to you OP (because you're getting a hard time) just enjoy the fact that the Duke and Duchess share your good taste. Charlotte is lovely. That's why it's popular.

LikeIcan · 04/05/2015 16:10

They were 3 Charlottes in my sons year & he's 15 lol - it's always been popular.

mumofthemonsters808 · 04/05/2015 16:10

Ten a penny round here, very overused, think four in one class. It is not unique or sophisticated in my eyes, it is just a box standard name, that you either love or loathe.

squoosh · 04/05/2015 16:10

Charlotte is a mega popular name I wouldn't assume people who now choose that name are copying the royals. People don't really do that anymore do they?

It must have crossed your mind 4 months ago that it was a name in the running?

TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 04/05/2015 16:13

I went to school with loads of charlottes and I'm 40. There were also quite a few at St Andrews when Kate was there. (Her prep school I mean)

Charis1 · 04/05/2015 16:13

Your use of the word cretin is exceptionally offensive. Do you even know what it means?

Charis1 · 04/05/2015 16:14

i expect she was named after Prince Charles, and that was always likely.

BikeRunSki · 04/05/2015 16:16

I know about 8 Charlottes under 3, it's hardly unusual.

RabidFairy · 04/05/2015 16:17

Charlotte has always been a popular name. When I was at school I ended up with lots of nicknames to differentiate me from all the other Charlottes. You're either going to have to live with the fact that your dd shares her name with a princess or change it.

NoArmaniNoPunani · 04/05/2015 16:17

Just call her Chaz, the royalist probably won't do that.

You could always alter it slightly, OP. Just to be different.

BitchPeas · 04/05/2015 16:21

From reception to yr 11 I had 8 different charlottes in my classes and I was born in the 80s.

So stop your self indulgent mithering woman Hmm

MeggyMooAndTinkerToo · 04/05/2015 16:22

I have a Charlotte, she's 23 Grin. You sound very angry OP, you don't own the name Charlotte. Here have a and some Brew to take with your Biscuit.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 04/05/2015 16:24

It's a lovely name, but already "super popular with the masses".

debbietheduck · 04/05/2015 16:24

YANBU, I would be fed up if they had named her after one of my DDs and they aren't even babies. They had already named their son after my bike.

Charlotte is a pretty name, lots of normal people use it, so don't let it bother you.

Waltermittythesequel · 04/05/2015 16:25

Did they announce four months ago that they were considering Charlotte?

Waltermittythesequel · 04/05/2015 16:26

Also your dh and you sounds like an asshole.

TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 04/05/2015 16:28

Charlemagne is a good alternative for the ambitious parent of a newborn
