To not like the way Prince George is dressed (and think it's often not weather appropriate)

OK I have said it....

I am in London and it was fucking freezing today OK maybe I am exaggerating a little but it was NOT shorts weather

I am not anti Royal, I tuned in to hear about the baby's safe arrival and wee George is just a cutie-pie but I don't like how they dress him.

So AIBU?

He will have looked lovely for the private photos Kate and William no doubt took of the moment he met his little sister. I recall my mother dressed my 18 month old ds1 in totally mismatched, really horrid second hand NCT sale clothes when he came into hospital to meet ds2. In all the photos, he looks awful.

ShatnersBassoon · 02/05/2015 23:12

Jean's a lovely woman Sad

butterflyballs · 02/05/2015 23:12

He looked so cute and loved his little wave to the waiting press.

There's nothing wrong with his clothes, he looks adorable. I bet he strips off and runs around naked at home though

Annunziata · 02/05/2015 23:14

I bet he has lovely little jammies and slippers :)

Ah it's nice to have good news.

Welshmaenad · 02/05/2015 23:16

It was a public engagement, of course he's not going to be in jeans.

I thought he looked gorgeous. And I'm not a fan of the royals generally.

Totality22 · 02/05/2015 23:23

Jeans = Yuck

Chinos = a little more trendy, comfortable and warm!!

Surely can't have been any colder than Kate was in her light, above knee dress and sheer tights.

ouryve · 02/05/2015 23:44

I don't know any 40 yr olds who dress in shorts and long socks NannyOgg!

Then you have an unusual postie.

VixxFace · 03/05/2015 00:40

*shatner bloody spell check

Icimoi · 03/05/2015 01:01

Poor little lamb looked a bit overwhelmed by it all though.

I think that had more to do with all the idiots screeching at the sight of him. Ridiculous reaction.

Nah, Kate won't be cold. Do you not remember the incredible heat of the early days of breastfeeding? Like you're a walking furnace. I had an autumn baby and didn't wear even a cardigan for months after he was born, and I'm usually one of those annoying cold people.

differentnameforthis · 03/05/2015 04:06

If you google him, you will see him dressed less formally on other occasions. Shorts, Tee, short socks & softer shoes.

They dressed him for a formal occasion as they knew the world would be watching.

They did what every parent does, dress their child according to what they think is appropriate!

RingtheBells · 03/05/2015 06:31

Agree with differentname, it is no different to how people dress their children for weddings etc. in little suits, it was a formal occasion.

BikeRunSki · 03/05/2015 06:47

William probably tried to get him into jogging bottoms and a hoodie, but George refused and ran around naked, laughing. Or is that only my children?

PlasticCircus · 03/05/2015 06:56

I'm just amazed he keeps those socks on! My DS who is slightly younger would have those off in a second or at least all scrunched up and uneven.

I think the outfit was fine for a royal toddler being lifted straight out of a car into a boiling hot hospital.

I think he looks sweet (he's an adorable little boy) but I always think his outfits don't match. Too much blue today!

merrymouse · 03/05/2015 07:28

I think they try to make him look relatively classic and formal for public photos - the pictures will be scrutinised all over the world for a very long time.

Mrsjayy · 03/05/2015 07:31

I agree they dress him like he has fallen out of the 40s do all aristocat 2 year olds dress like that ? when do they progress to big boy trousers it does look quite cute though I dont think he will dress like that every day though he will zoom about in his next trakkies like any other toddler.

He looked lovely for the occasion.
DS has worn shorts all winter, voluntarily. Not with long socks either (although he did go for the train track legwarmers when it was frosty).

He looked a bit tatty when meeting his younger sibling, but he'd been on scout camp and had been playing with a mound of unseasonal snow. (This was after Easter)

AnnieLewis · 03/05/2015 07:50

My DS is only a bit older than Prince George and he also has worn shorts defiantly regardless of the weather, and we are also in London. I think George looked cute as a button and totally appropriate for his environment (and by that I mean member of the Royal Family, 3rd in line to throne and possibly most photographed toddler male on the planet)

YABU

Chesterado · 03/05/2015 07:54

Our DS is the same age as Prince George. On a recent trip to Spain we took him out in shorts, a polo shirt and Doodles type shoes. It got a bit chilly so we put a cardigan on him and pulled his socks up. We chuckled about how cute he looked in his Prince George-esque outfit then some Spanish Grandmas came passed and went absolutely bananas over him!
