To not like the way Prince George is dressed (and think it's often not weather appropriate)

OK I have said it....

I am in London and it was fucking freezing today OK maybe I am exaggerating a little but it was NOT shorts weather

I am not anti Royal, I tuned in to hear about the baby's safe arrival and wee George is just a cutie-pie but I don't like how they dress him.

So AIBU?

He looks to me just how a little Prince should look.

Totally weather appropriate clothing to go from the car to hospital.

usualsuspect333 · 02/05/2015 22:37

Exactly. He looks like a little prince should look.

Them Royals are not daft.

Tiptops · 02/05/2015 22:38

YABU.

I think his outfits are lovely and much nicer than the usual jeans little children wear now. His clothes look like they're made for children, not miniature versions of adult clothing. Don't think it was weather inappropriate either - maternity wards are always roasting!

Happylass1 · 02/05/2015 22:39

I love his outfits

TheFairyCaravan · 02/05/2015 22:39

I bet they called Kensington Palace to say William was coming to get him. He was changed in to that outfit minutes before he was collected and went from a warm car to a hot hospital room.

Royal children have been dressed like that for decades, it's traditional. He looked comfortable. He wasn't in a pair of stiff old jeans and ill fitting trainers like you see a lot of toddlers.

Ifyourawizardwhydouwearglasses · 02/05/2015 22:40

Mumsnet probably wouldn't be happy unless he was in an Elsa dress.

I think he looks lovely. Very smart but still cute.

Artandco · 02/05/2015 22:41

Oh and until potty trained both mine always wore tights under short dungerees. With a cardigan. My pet hate is seeing baby nappies poke out the top of trousers etc so this way they are always tidy and also don't have thick waistbands. I'm assuming that's one reason George is often seen in dungarees also as then stuff doesnt come untucked and look messy for photos

MeggyMooAndTinkerToo · 02/05/2015 22:42

Mumsnet probably wouldn't be happy unless he was in an Elsa dress.

Grin too true!

Totality22 · 02/05/2015 22:43

An Elsa dress would have been epic!!

That could be one for the future.

I feel awful, and as I say I think he is a wee stunner - just not a fan of his "style" and yep I know I need to get a life!

Those knee high socks looked a bit strange, and he always looks very old fashioned.

I expect at home he may be dressed more normally/casually.

NotMrsTumble · 02/05/2015 22:45

Ah, but nannyogg almost has it. Instead of a miniature version of a 40 year old, he looked like miniature version of our bonkers neighbour in his early 70s who is very establishment and wears long socks and short trousers from May to September, regardless of the weather. I'm sure he was an aide to the Prince of Wales at some point didn't google him honest. Tbh I'd rather see George in his 1950s clobber than in a sloganed T-shirt though, and to be fair I'm pretty sure he wasn't at risk of hypothermia today.

TheFairyCaravan · 02/05/2015 22:46

I really don't care for Kate and William but I'm quite looking forward to seeing the new baby dressed in little smocked dresses etc.

usualsuspect333 · 02/05/2015 22:48

I wonder if they ever have pyjama days. In his little spongebob PJs.

I bet he has to wear those long nightgowns though.

Dumbledoresgirl · 02/05/2015 22:49

The Gestapo wore Start-rite sandals?

Best laugh I've had all day, thank you. Grin

Stinkersmum · 02/05/2015 22:50

SuburbanRhonda I didn't say the OP was judgey at all. I just gave my opinion on their post. Problem?

Gileswithachainsaw · 02/05/2015 22:55

Oh come on all kids usually look ridiculous. joggers, skirt, dress and wellies anyone?

If he hated the outfit or was too cold he'd let ya know about it.

He was dressed fine for a car and a trip to a sweltering hospital.

Bonsoir · 02/05/2015 22:56

George was dressed for the world media, as were William, Kate and the new princess. The whole thing is staged. I thought they all looked very suitable for the circumstances. George was adorable waving to the press.

Shockers · 02/05/2015 22:57

DD was up a windy, rainy it really stung Catbells , for at least 2 hours, in cropped Craghopper trousers today.

And her socks were quite short.

She's British, and made of sturdy stuff.

QueenFuri · 02/05/2015 22:57

Yabu he looked adorable and very cute. At home he is no doubt in joggers and t-shirts. Toddlers look ridiculous in "adult" clothes anyway!

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 02/05/2015 23:02

I used to work as a nanny in Kensington all the little boys (including the 4 I looked after) dressed like that for parties or special occasions. They all wore normal clothes the rest of the time as I'm sure George does.
I thought he looked adorable!

Stratter5 · 02/05/2015 23:04

He looked gorgeous, those shorts looked really comfortable, and perfectly warm enough with long socks. I always think jeans look jolly uncomfortable on small children, and faintly ridiculous on babies.

TendonQueen · 02/05/2015 23:04

He's dressed the way William was. That may be traditional but it also may be something William likes and wants to carry on for personal reasons. Plus it means he is very identifiable by dress, which might be helpful if they ever want to take him somewhere incognito - they can put him in jeans and a dinosaur t shirt and people will go '...is that..? No, can't be..' and move on.

usual I reckon he wears PJs, but classic flannel striped ones that button up. Like in Only When I Laugh.
