to wish I could vote ukip loud and proud

I've nc for this, as I generally have to in life.

I'm voting ukip, I live in Peterborough where we have had massive immigration. The affects have been huge. Enlargement of EU distroyed dh building business overnight. The schools are close to bursting and have to do a school run to two different schools, had a 5 hour wait in a and e. Teenage son struggles to get part time farm work like I did when I was a teenager. House prices are out of control, god knows how any of mine will ever leave home.

I'm not saying all of these are 100% to do with uncontrolled immigration, but it has Made the problems so much worse.

I'm not racist, most of my friends are 2nd gen Asians or homophobic, my brother and his husband visit a lot.

I just want an oz type points immigration system. I don't care that lots are highly skilled, that is often very bad as it leads to a brain drain in other countries and my children will have to compete with the worlds most ambitious and motivated people.

I just want to be able to express these thoughts but I'm shamed into hiding them by the media.

I think, if you are ashamed of something (which you clearly are) it's generally because it's wrong.

I've never been ashamed of doing something right.

Mumof4worried · 22/04/2015 19:20

That's supposed to be I'm not racist or homophobic, it doesn't read like it should! Sorry.

Thanks for one person actually admitting my concerns are genuine. If ukip isn't the answer what is? All the others just seem to keep kicking the can down the road all while getting into more debt and nothing changing.

I would only ever vote ukip or green as they are the ones offering radical change but the greens have no chance here.

Is this for real?
You don't have to live in Peterborough, you know. You are quite free to live somewhere else if you don't like the way the neighbourhood is going. Places change. It doesn't belong to you.
Sadly there are any number of places you could live where you could express these types of views with absolute impunity. Why not try Burnley, or Dover?

I do three schools each morning and afternoon.
I don't have an issue with it, I choose to have my children and I am responsible for them.
A wait in a and e I would expect about four hours.
Immigration is not the issue with the NHS.

CookieDoughKid · 22/04/2015 19:21

I think op is a troll.

tantalisingduck · 22/04/2015 19:21

Come on everyone...OP obviously meant to write that she was neither racist (lots of 2nd generation asian friends) nor homophobic ( her gay brother and husband visit a lot)....

But though I'll forgive the grammar error (easily done) I can't explain away the desire to vote UKIP.

BuriedSardine · 22/04/2015 19:21

Second generation homophobes?

Fabulous!

Do they pass the ignorance from father to son?

'Ere, lad. A've kicked shit out o' pansies in these boots. Look after 'em, lad.'

Etc.

Otherwise, have another Biscuit

BastardGoDarkly · 22/04/2015 19:22

Think she meant she's not racist or homophobic.

Op, have you actually studied ukip? Or are you just repeating what you've heard in the pub?

RabidFairy · 22/04/2015 19:22

"I'm not racist, I have Asian friends!" Hmm

Dude, it's your vote use it how you like. Might lose you some friends though.

Mumof4worried · 22/04/2015 19:22

Thanks Annie for that, was just reading your posts on buy to let in property , your clearly very on the ball. Where am I going wrong in my political thinking?

OP posts:
LocalEditorEssex · 22/04/2015 19:23

Bollocks, I am about to report my own post as I have made a political point known under this user name. Hopefully they will remove the last sentence only.

anythingforaquietnight · 22/04/2015 19:23

most of my friends are …. homophobic

I've had a shit day - am now crying with laughter. Thankyou

YouTheCat · 22/04/2015 19:23

Please, look at their other policies.

They deny climate change and don't want spending on renewable energy.

They want to deny women the right to autonomy over their bodies. Within their party there are rape apologists, homophobes, racists. Do you really want to give them the chance?

Do you want to see people with disabilities, who are unable to work, institutionalised like in the 50s?

exLtEveDallasNoBollocks · 22/04/2015 19:24

I live in an area that hasnt got a lot of immigration - no one wants to live in the sticks!

House prices are rising.
Schools are full to bursting.
Businesses are going under.
Town centres are becoming wastelands.
A&E waiting times are 3-5 hours (and not just on a Saturday night)
DH can't find work (not that he's looking that hard)
FSM uptake has doubled at my school.

I can't blame immigration. So maybe you shouldn't either OP.

TravellingToad · 22/04/2015 19:24

Yanbu but certain people will try and bully and humiliate you into not exercising your democratic right to vote.

I genuinely can't understand how people can be so vicious to people just because they don't share their socialist view point. If I was as scathing and rude and aggressive not to mention insulting to the left wing voters people would be appealed but I'm an easy target as a ukip supporter.

OP you are not alone, loads of people feel the same as you but are too scared to say so. The polls will show the truth to how the nation feels.

LokiBear · 22/04/2015 19:24

You can vote for whomever you please.

RosesareSublime · 22/04/2015 19:24

Op, this country is a democracy and you can vote for who you want too.

All of us will vote due to our own personal experiences with other regards thrown in.

I personally think Tony Blair is evil and don't know how any one could vote Labour....I think we need time to heal after his appalling legacy.

And for all the immigration deniers, even Red Ed has admitted many times, they got it wrong on immigration so not sure how anyone can deny its been a huge problem for the UK.

Alisvolatpropiis · 22/04/2015 19:24

I knew you meant that you weren't homphobic etc op, it was obvious enough.

But honestly, do look at the other policies UKIP has. Being concerned about immigration doesn't make you a racist, but UKIP are essentially a pressure group desperately trying to make the leap to being a political party. They don't stand for anything good.

It is true the UK has a points based immigration system but only for non-EU immigrants rather than across the board as with Australia.

shewept · 22/04/2015 19:25

Yabu and yanbu.

Immigration isn't entirely to blame for these circumstances. UKIP have some very worry policies outside of immigration.

However, the people I know who are planning on voting ukip are doing so because they don't feel the other parties will do bugger all. Not because they are racist or homophobes as some people like to pretend.

Thats why UKIP are getting so much attention. Because alot of people are fed up with Labour/Lib/Cons talking rubbish all the time rather than actually addressing issues.

In all honesty I am still non the wiser. I don't like the lib dems, I am not a fan of the conservatives and how they have implemented changes. I also after the way Blair/Brown and labour party ran the country before, I just can not vote for them. I don't trust either Ed to whats right.

If you want to vote UKIP, inform yourself fully and do it. Simple fact is, people here can call you whatever they want. Its your vote and no one has the right to tell you what to do with it. Your Responsibility is to make an informed decision.

Coffeethrowtrampbitch · 22/04/2015 19:25

The answer is to actually spend more on public services.

Immigrants pay taxes, same as everyone else, and all of our tax money is being spent on debt interest and tax breaks for high earners, instead of schools, NHS and infrastructure which would address many of the problems you've highlighted.

BUT spending more money to fix these things will be unpopular, and it would take a long time for things to improve, and also require hard work and excellent planning to turn things around.

Blaming problems on immigrants and implying their removal will instantly fix society's ills is a lying lazy irresponsible policy you can only spout of you have no chance of being forced to make good on your promises, because if you did things would be much worse much faster.

I am sorry you are in such desperate panic about the bad situation where you live, but UKIP are not yelling the truth when they say curbing immigration will make it better.

JanineStHubbins · 22/04/2015 19:25

Waits in A&E have nothing to do with immigration. The NHS wouldn't function without immigration.

catgirl1976 · 22/04/2015 19:26

People would be appealed? Confused

jollygoose · 22/04/2015 19:26

op you are on a hiding to nothing if you support ukip on msnetts, they are all convinced that ukip is racist and you will not change their minds.
I am voting ukip because I would prefer to live in a country that puts its own people first, say no to health tourism and increase the armed forces which have been decimated by the tories.

LikeIcan · 22/04/2015 19:26

Op - who you vote for is between you & the ballot box, it really isn't any one else's business. I've known people for years & I haven't got a clue who they vote for.

Plenty of people will vote UKIP so you're not alone. Stop stressing.
