to wish I could vote ukip loud and proud

I've nc for this, as I generally have to in life.

I'm voting ukip, I live in Peterborough where we have had massive immigration. The affects have been huge. Enlargement of EU distroyed dh building business overnight. The schools are close to bursting and have to do a school run to two different schools, had a 5 hour wait in a and e. Teenage son struggles to get part time farm work like I did when I was a teenager. House prices are out of control, god knows how any of mine will ever leave home.

I'm not saying all of these are 100% to do with uncontrolled immigration, but it has Made the problems so much worse.

I'm not racist, most of my friends are 2nd gen Asians or homophobic, my brother and his husband visit a lot.

I just want an oz type points immigration system. I don't care that lots are highly skilled, that is often very bad as it leads to a brain drain in other countries and my children will have to compete with the worlds most ambitious and motivated people.

I just want to be able to express these thoughts but I'm shamed into hiding them by the media.

Ps margo yes I have morals too, they may even be the same morals you have. However our beliefs and ideals may be different. Discuss.

Lasswithballs · 25/04/2015 14:39

And quickly

I guess a lot of the older population support UKIP as they want to return to the past. Many view the past through rose tinted specs. It's like Mike yarwood, the comedian said when he played a politician....

An old lady asked me why it can't be like the good old days. So I took her pension off her and shoved her grandson up a chimney.

That said, their views are valid too.

Right I'd better leave you all for a bit and get my pinny on. If the kids are not clean and my blokes dinner isn't sorted when he gets home from t'pub there will be hell to pay....................... JOKE JOKE JOKE.......

merrymouse · 25/04/2015 14:56

I'm sure if every party were subject to the scrutiny that UKIP are then a whole raft of quotes and faux pas could be listed.

You honestly believe that the Telegraph/Guardian wouldn't have gone to town on the Bongo Bongo land and Lenny Henry quotes if they had been made by prominent Labour/Conservative party members?

The truth is that there just isn't such a rich seam of people who say this kind of thing in the other parties.

Even if UKIP is just very unlucky with its selection process, the choice to sit with holicaust denier and women's suffrage sceptic Janusz Ryszard Korwin-Mikke in the European Parliament is deliberate.

TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 25/04/2015 14:59

Barracking and ridiculing people for how they are going to vote is extremely democratic.

So everyone got the wrong end of the stick and ukip are not about halting immigration or racist? You are re-writing history. UKIP are nothing without that. It's what they are based on, people's fear and hate and petty-mindedness.

GiddyOnZackHunt · 25/04/2015 15:44

OP Aibu to vote UKIP?
MN Yes and No
kippers: Oh no you're all so biased it's not about immigration and race
Non kippers: How so?
kippers: ooh you lefties are solo superior

This is AIBU - we haven't started harranging someone who wanted advice on birthday party etiquette. The question was asked and some of us answered. If I can persuade people to think carefully about the choices they make then I'm happy. I don't want them to vote UKIP but ultimately I won't ever know if they did.

GiddyOnZackHunt · 25/04/2015 15:50

I've not called anyone names but have been referred to as a loonie, been on the end of some condescending rudeness and all because I asked about mental health provision after a kipper started on about it. We've been compared to North Korea, Stalin and German fascists. The comment about Miliband was extraordinarily unpleasant. Told we're wound up, catty and waving our handbags. Facts have been brushed aside.

catgirl1976 · 25/04/2015 15:56

Your views on EFD Lass? Goldy? Anyone?

No. Didn't think so.

LikeIcan · 25/04/2015 17:17

Catgirl - take a break, it's Saturday & the sun is shining.

BIWI · 25/04/2015 17:18

Ah. So you can't answer then can you? Just trying to deflect your inability.

catgirl1976 · 25/04/2015 17:20

I'm in bed with pneumonia Like. MN and reading books are all I've got :)

But if you could let me know your views on UKIP's membership of the EFD, that would be super.

LikeIcan · 25/04/2015 17:25

Sorry to hear that catgirl.
For you Flowers

Thanks Like.

LikeIcan · 25/04/2015 17:28

& tbh, at first I thought you were taking about the French energy company.

I've never heard of EFD.

catgirl1976 · 25/04/2015 17:32

Ha :) No, not EDF. I've not got an issue with where they get their energy.

It is worth a google and read if you are thinking of voting for them.

It's a far right European Group which UKIP are members of. It has some very unsavoury characters including the True Finns, holocaust deniers and a lovely chap who thought Anders Brevik was a good thing.

LumpySpacedPrincess · 25/04/2015 17:33

*Your views on EFD Lass? Goldy? Anyone?

No. Didn't think so.*

And scrapping equality laws...

Waits patiently...

With handbag...

LumpySpacedPrincess · 25/04/2015 17:34

Well that was a bold fail spectacular Grin

LikeIcan · 25/04/2015 17:36

Will take a look catgirl Smile

it's nearly at 1000 posts so I'll say goodbye now - it's been good chatting with you, hope you feel better soon Smile
This election will be interesting for sure!

catgirl1976 · 25/04/2015 17:40

Thank you - and thanks for having a look.

It certainly will be an interesting election

Dawndonnaagain · 25/04/2015 17:40

EFD, the oh so delightful far right group, of which Farage is President, Le Pen, too, is involved. Nice bunch, the that there's an epidemic of disabled people and that said disabled people shouldn't be seen in public because, well, you know, it's unpleasant and discouraging.
A couple of members think that Anders Brevik had it spot on, too.
But you oh so intelligent apologists for racism, you go right ahead and ignore EFD and their ilk, because of course, it's not about racism at all, is it.

LumpySpacedPrincess · 25/04/2015 17:44

I'm in South Thanet where 39% of voters are voting UKIP and every single one I've met is either racist, or ignorant of who UKIP are. Sadly the majority are just out and out racist and they are sooo happy that UKIP is giving them a voice. Sad
