to wish I could vote ukip loud and proud

I've nc for this, as I generally have to in life.

I'm voting ukip, I live in Peterborough where we have had massive immigration. The affects have been huge. Enlargement of EU distroyed dh building business overnight. The schools are close to bursting and have to do a school run to two different schools, had a 5 hour wait in a and e. Teenage son struggles to get part time farm work like I did when I was a teenager. House prices are out of control, god knows how any of mine will ever leave home.

I'm not saying all of these are 100% to do with uncontrolled immigration, but it has Made the problems so much worse.

I'm not racist, most of my friends are 2nd gen Asians or homophobic, my brother and his husband visit a lot.

I just want an oz type points immigration system. I don't care that lots are highly skilled, that is often very bad as it leads to a brain drain in other countries and my children will have to compete with the worlds most ambitious and motivated people.

I just want to be able to express these thoughts but I'm shamed into hiding them by the media.

Do you think the following a racist Lass?

Referring to "bongo bongo land" (UKIP MEP Godfrey Bloom)

Saying "Most nigerians are bad people" (Andrew Lampitt - UKIP)

Saying "Lenny Henry should move to a black country" (William Henwood - UKIP)

Saying "Dogs are better behaved and more intellegent than most Muslims (Joesph Quirk - UKIP)

Wanting to ban Mosques (Gerrard Batten UKIP)

Do you need more?

RedToothBrush · 25/04/2015 13:13

Why does everyone forget that immigration is the consequence of emigration?

Emigration is the consequence of
War
Famine
Lack of Opportunity
Discrimination
Exploitation
Persecution

So the best way to discourage immigration is NOT to close the borders as that doesn't stop the desire to leave somewhere. It just increases political tensions - with our neighbours and with countries further afield - and creates new political issues such as boats going over in the Med. It fuels anti-Western sentiments which endangers us at home too.

This is precisely why we give so much in the way of international development funds, even to countries which are crap at taxing themselves. Its not just for their benefit. Its also for OUR benefit.

If UKIP really want to be tough on immigration, then logically they should be arguing for a massive increase in this budget.

To not do so is illogical, and yep, racist...

MargoReadbetter · 25/04/2015 13:13

Lasswithballs - have a read through the history books so you can understand words such as 'fascism'. Then come back and be at our educated level of discussion. Now that is condescending.

BoulevardOfBrokenSleep · 25/04/2015 13:15

Did you know that if you google 'proud to vote UKIP', this thread is no.3 on the list?

Anyhooo.... Lasswithballs makes a good point, UKIP aren't all about immigrants, there's also the plan to withdraw from the EU.
Which can only go well, right? Right?

GiddyOnZackHunt · 25/04/2015 13:18

And let's not forget that 'ladies' voting for UKIP is akin to turkeys voting for Christmas. How desperate would you have to be to get in an overcrowded and dilapidated boat run by criminals with your baby? What drives this desperation?

catgirl1976 · 25/04/2015 13:19

And,...ok let's "bury the racist tosh" for a minute Lass.

how do you vote for a party that wants to get rid of Maternity Leave?

Here's a video of Godfrey Bloom saying that

www.telegraph.co.uk/women/womens-life/10738188/Godfrey-Bloom-Ukips-most-non-PC-member-shares-his-views-on-women-and-Nigel-Farage.html

LumpySpacedPrincess · 25/04/2015 13:20

And let's not even get started on their theories about climate change...

catgirl1976 · 25/04/2015 13:24

And here's some dof Farage's direct, delightful views on women (given they were forced to kick Godfrey out)

www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/nigel-farage-women-ukip-leader-3042606

catgirl1976 · 25/04/2015 13:26

But yeah. Fucking vote for them. Loud and Proud.

However, if in the unlikely event they ever come to power, don't start a thread crying that you can't get Maternity Leave and you've got no rights whatsoever to stop your boss groping you at work, you back garden is being fracked, we've left the EU and the economy has gone even more tits up and you're facing a 22 hour wait in A&E because all the medical staff have fucked off back to bongo bongo land.

Hear, hear catgirl!

catgirl1976 · 25/04/2015 13:35

After all, who could resist an MP who claimed £2 million in expenses on top of his own salary www.theguardian.com/politics/2009/may/24/mps-expenses-ukip-nigel-farage

and enjoys a cheeky lap dance www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/ukip/8128877/Nigel-Farage-born-to-rant.html

catgirl1976 · 25/04/2015 13:38

And NO ONE has even mentioned UKIPs membership of the EFD.

I'd like just one Ukipper to tell me how they feel about that and how they square it with themselves. Though I doubt anyone of them even know what it is.

Google's that way ------> Knock yourselves out.

ThinkAboutItTomorrow · 25/04/2015 13:42

Our way of life has been far more influenced and changed by American cultural influences which we've welcomed wholeheartedly than immigration. Mostly because the rest of the world has been a bit americanised too. I work with Russian, Greek and Indian kids who sound American and quote the same books, films computer games and song lyrics.

sourdrawers · 25/04/2015 13:47

Well said. Good points ThinkAbout.

I agree 100% with SisterHyde. Apart from the notion that we should ignore these people. I believe it makes them worse. It reaffirms (to them) the idea that the conspiracy against them has closed ranks and exacerbates their unfortunate state of mind even more.

What pisses me off is the way their odious party leader is wheeled out to offer balance to just about every political debate. This is, apparently, in order to provide balance on European matters? For me it's like inviting a creationist to give their view every time a story breaks about dinosaur fossils.

So, hate the smoking ban, HS2, Brussels, travellers, burqas, regulation, tax, debt, wind farms, quangos, foreign aid, crime, Abu Qatada (or his latest incarnation), lazy people, Muslims, foreigners, single Mum's, the hunting ban? Vote Ukip. I mean.... Let's have a discussions..

ThinkAboutItTomorrow · 25/04/2015 13:59

I was talking to someone the other day who had been asked by Nigel Farrage to stand in the election (not a UKIP member but pretty right wing). He said no because he wasn't racist and didn't want people to think he was. Nigel had said 'but why would that stop you standing for us?' and to the reply 'err, people think you're racist' had sounded genuinely shocked. I think the danger is they honestly don't realise that they are racist.

Lasswithballs · 25/04/2015 14:00

Wow

I'll raise my brass neck above the silly mud slinging comments, I'm on here for a discussion, not handbags.

Margo, correct it's not something I'd say or think. As for the other racist comments, yes racists exist in the party. I'm sure they do in every party. What UKIP do seem to do is get find of them. No medals, it's what they should do. I still don't think its a racist party. I'm sure if every party were subject to the scrutiny that UKIP are then a whole raft of quotes and faux pas could be listed. John major quoting family values whilst having an affair etc.

Biwi, yes sorry, we don't. Good point. I was referring to free movement of EU nationals.

The facist quote. I'll check my dictionary. The point I originally tried to make was that barracking and ridiculing people for how that are going to vote isn't very democratic. Yes you have the right to say what you think, I get that but I'm disheartened by the vendetta of UKIP by so called liberals. Especially to Farage, posters they put up and canvassers of the party.

However, this does bring out sympathisers who are shy UKIP so keep it coming I guess.

The other discussion points, I'll answer in a short while.

Thanks

DoraGora · 25/04/2015 14:06

UKIP aren't racist. If you chuck out all the foreigners and halt immigration, so that you're left with only wasps, then there's nothing to be racist about. It's called egalitarian. (Actually, I think there's a problem with the Angles, the Saxons, the Jutes and the Vikings and the Normans) best stick with the Celts (not the ones from Eastern Europe) the other Celts. They're British.

MargoReadbetter · 25/04/2015 14:07

"Faux pas." Yep, that's all it is. Just a bumbling old soul.

MargoReadbetter · 25/04/2015 14:08

DoraGora - it'd be great if they applied that to their own party membership. There'd only be a handful left.

purdiepie · 25/04/2015 14:10

Brilliant post Lass.

MargoReadbetter · 25/04/2015 14:11

Another word you're getting confused about. Liberal is not the same as libertine. I have morals, which is why I despise UKIP and all who sympathise with them.

Lasswithballs · 25/04/2015 14:13

Boulevard

Yes leaving the EU is a big part but I'd at least like the facts, pros and cons and the public to have the right to a referendum. I admit, to me, it's a scary notion but I'm also less and less at ease with Brussels and the hold they have on out laws and economy.

And Blair telling us that we can't be trusted to decide for ourselves..........

Lasswithballs · 25/04/2015 14:29

Margo, yes maybe a bit of confusion but I'm just trying to get my point across without getting bogged down with semantics. That said, thanks as the correct word in the right context is important.

Dora , halting immigration and chucking out all the foreigners certainly isn't what I see in the manifesto and certainly isn't what I and I'm sure lots of other UKIPpers want at all. That would be horrendous. People get bogged down with a halt on I.mmigration. That was never said. Quotas are ridiculous but an Australian point score based on skills etc regardless of race, religion, colour........ I fail to see how this is racist. Does anyone know if it did or does work for Australia?
