A continuation of this thread, which is far too good to just die now that it's reached 1000 comments!

I haven't met AH but I was sitting behind his wife on the bus once. Realised as she was departing. I think he's great as the PM in Little Britain.

badtime · 23/04/2015 13:19

I used to work in a shop in central London and met way too many celebrities to have any hope of remembering them.

My most positive celebrity encounter was with comedian Rhona Cameron, who was just in the shop as a customer, but stood for several minutes helping me try to persuade a somewhat drunk chap who had fallen over and cut his head that he should go to A & E.

Ainsley Harriot posed for photos with us despite being with his friends in a busy pub on Christmas Day, really friendly and chatty. I also bumped into him a few times when walking my dog.

Worked with Twiggy many moons ago - absolute diva nightmare.

Tim McInnerny (Capt Darling in Blackadder) came to a party I was at a few years ago - really lovely and chatty.

Knew The Housemartins quite well when they started out - great laugh.

Dave Grohl is possibily the nicest bloke you could ever hope to meet. I met him in a bar, he was getting mobbed by fans, so patient and sweet.

Only1scoop · 23/04/2015 13:22

Used to bump into J carrot.... he always seemed miserable....wife lovely though.

Stinkylinky · 23/04/2015 13:22

I knew Dave Grohl would be the nicest man ever, I would cry if my illusions were shattered!

sparkysparkysparky · 23/04/2015 13:22

May I recommend AH reading Paul Temple stories on audio book? He's rather good.

SunshineBossaNova · 23/04/2015 13:28

I haven't met AH but saw him as Frank 'n' Furter in Rocky Horror years ago. He was fabulous, and looked great in a corset. Grin

sourdrawers · 23/04/2015 13:34

Jimmy Nail, remember that twat? I worked on some shite series he was in.(I can't actually bring myself to name it as I loath him so much). An arrogant, conceited bully.

HalleLouja · 23/04/2015 13:58

Delilah a friend went to school with KJ and said she was very focussed on success from the start. She dumped her long standing boyf as he didn't fit in with the plan.

DrKarg · 23/04/2015 14:14

According to my uncle, who has worked in broadcasting for over 30 years, Michael Parkinson is by far the rudest and most horrible celeb he's ever come across. Such a shame!

Sansarya · 23/04/2015 14:20

I'd believe that DrKarg, having seen some of his interviews - the one from the 70s with Helen Mirren is thoroughly cringeworthy, as is the more recent one with Meg Ryan.

My dh served Prince Charles at a very posh dinner many years ago, says he was very polite and well mannered and dh was given a large tip from Prince Charles via the policeman who was guarding him.

ScooseIsLoose · 23/04/2015 14:36

I am so jealous of livin la vida Loki I have had a huge crush on kelly Jones since I was 16! I'm now 33 and it's still going strong stereophonic a are amazing live alas I have never met him Sad

Echocave · 23/04/2015 14:41

Parky is definitely a man of his (horrifically unreconstructed) era. Urgh.

Sansarya · 23/04/2015 14:42

As a child I lived overseas because of my father’s job and my parents tended to socialise among the expats. Prince Charles visited the country once and my parents and some of their friends got invited to a reception for him. They said he was very nice but upon meeting my parents and their friends (who were all from various different countries) he asked if they all worked for the UN! My parents were quite amused that he seemed to think the UN was the only place people of various ethnicities would work together!

Mine are
Jennifer Ellison - used to drink in a bar (was dating one of the barmen) she used to drink in and she was a snooty little madam who would look people up and down as if they were inferior. She's was only young tho hopefully she's grown up a bit.
Liz mclarnon is lovely
Margie Clarke is brash but nice
She is a taxi driver and has had loads in his cab he said Les Dennis is the nicest he's picked him up quite a few times. He also had Linda Dobson and lesley Joseph he said Linda is lovely lesley not so much. Will have to come back when I think of more

ScooseIsLoose · 23/04/2015 14:44

Dh not she margin is not a taxi driver Grin

ScooseIsLoose · 23/04/2015 14:50

Robson obviously hate this bloody phone! Thought of some more
Dh picked up Jimmy osmond and his assistant said he seemed nice enough.
Dh friend picked up Jason Donovan didn't recognise him tho and asked if he was Australian? Jason was good natured and apparently a nice bloke. Dh has also had Stephen graham (this is England, Boardwalk empire etc) dh is a big fan and didn't charge him his words were how can you charge Al Capone? He said Stephen is a decent fella and shook his hand and chatted for a bit.

grannytomine · 23/04/2015 14:52

Lenny Henry in Sainsburys, I was standing behind him at the checkout and rescued his antiperspirant when it fell off. He was very friendly and polite, my kids were so annoyed they hadn't come shopping with me.

Dennis Waterman at the stagedoor when he was in My Fair Lady, he was lovely to my kids when Martine McCutcheon was much too busy to say hello to two kids.

grannytomine · 23/04/2015 14:55

Antiperspirant fell off the checkout not Lenny Henry!

ShaynePunim · 23/04/2015 14:56

Phil Collins was lovely to a couple of middle-aged Brazilians I know who were big fans of his. It was the best day of their lives. :)

DidoTheDodo · 23/04/2015 14:58

I danced with Prince Edward once but he insisted I called him "Sir" so I walked off.

Roussette · 23/04/2015 15:01

John Major was absolutely lovely. Met him in Cornwall and my DD who was about 5 at the time offered him a bite of her cornish pasty! He was so lovely and bent down and chatted with her.

OhNoNotMyBaby · 23/04/2015 15:08

Mumsnet clearly has an obligation to hold a AH event and invite all of us on this thread who haven't met him.

Are you listening Justine, Helen, Anne and everyone?

Roussette · 23/04/2015 15:09

Oh... and... Franke Dettori. Really charming.
