Totally expecting a flaming here buty local Bargain Booze is advertising Cow and Gate formula on a sandwich board outside, if nothing else it is illegal, but I also think I should probably mind my own business but it gets on my nerves. Think they should probably stick to booze. WIBU to say something to them?

That should be 'my local'

Wouldn't be my first choice of somewhere to pop for some.

Are you sure it isn't an advert for follow on?

RedButtonhole · 09/04/2015 20:19

How is it illegal and why does it get on your nerves?

I doubt "saying something to them" will come to anything.

FarFromAnyRoad · 09/04/2015 20:19

Illegal?

LokiBear · 09/04/2015 20:20

I don't understand the question.

thatstoast · 09/04/2015 20:20

Bargain Booze sell formula?!! That's going to save me some time on the weekly groceries! Wine

FlyingPirate · 09/04/2015 20:20

Why does it get on your nerves?

MissMogwi · 09/04/2015 20:20

Why is that illegal? Confused

Beatrixemerald · 09/04/2015 20:20

Yep advertising formula for under 6 months old is illegal and yes it is that which is being advertised, handwritten rather than a printed ad

GinAndSonic · 09/04/2015 20:21

Take a photo. Report to baby milk action. They have an online form.

SaucyJack · 09/04/2015 20:21

Is it illegal to advertise the brand? And who cares?

Let's face- the sort of person who does their grocery shop at Bargain Booze is hardly in the breastfeeding demographic anyway.

LokiBear · 09/04/2015 20:22

No new mother is going to make a choice to formula feed based on a a frame advert outside of a bargain booze. Yabu.

Beatrixemerald · 09/04/2015 20:22

It gets on my nerves that they are getting into a market they clearly know nothing about, am prepared that I am being U but I assume of they knew they were breaking the law they would not continue

OP posts:
RJnomore · 09/04/2015 20:24

Nope yanbu it is indeed illegal, they shouldn't be doing it and some of the comments so far - one in particular - the posters should be ashamed of themselves.

FarFromAnyRoad · 09/04/2015 20:26

Have you got great holes in your days which need to be filled with something/anything? You're not planning on buying there are you? No. Whether or not anyone else does is just none of your business.

Beatrixemerald · 09/04/2015 20:27

Yep as am on mat leave have plenty of time on my hands and yes so shop in there

Sparklingbrook · 09/04/2015 20:28

I miss Bargain Booze.

AlpacaLypse · 09/04/2015 20:30

Look up your local Trading Standards and email/call them. YANBU, it's illegal for all sorts of good reasons.

MrsFlannel · 09/04/2015 20:33

Can you not bear to think of all those bottle feeding Mothers buying their formula AND their alcohol OP? Hmm

fulltothebrim · 09/04/2015 20:35

Report them/ I have reported Boots the chemist for selling Newborn formulaat half price because it was close to the sell by date.

It is not legal.

Beatrixemerald · 09/04/2015 20:35

MrsFlannel - not the point, point is it is illegal

OP posts:
TwinkieTwinkle · 09/04/2015 20:36

Still can't believe there are laws on advertising baby formula but you can advertise alcohol fairly easily. Or the one that really gets me: SCARY MOVIES without a warning. That's going to be the death of me...

Sparklingbrook · 09/04/2015 20:36

Just report it then.

LittleGreyCar · 09/04/2015 20:38

I have reported Boots the chemist for selling Newborn formulaat half price because it was close to the sell by date.

You have WAY too much time on your hands Hmm.

iamelectrogirl · 09/04/2015 20:38

Report. It's illegal, whatever your opinion on formula. National chain too, not a little corner shop where they might not be aware of the law. I second getting in touch with Baby Milk Action
