Totally expecting a flaming here buty local Bargain Booze is advertising Cow and Gate formula on a sandwich board outside, if nothing else it is illegal, but I also think I should probably mind my own business but it gets on my nerves. Think they should probably stick to booze. WIBU to say something to them?

Can you not bear to think of all those bottle feeding Mothers buying their formula AND their alcohol OP?

I was thinking the same.

FarFromAnyRoad · 09/04/2015 20:42

There is a special place in hell reserved for life's petty reporters. At least, I hope there is.

They shouldn't advertise. Those rules do exist for god reasons. But you seem to dislike them selling formula per se. I don't see what is wrong with that. Surely it is one of those things like tampons where you are grateful lots of small shops have some?

Cornettoninja · 09/04/2015 20:44

I don't really understand why it's illegal tbh Confused

I get that breast feeding is the ideal and should be encouraged but I don't see why someone who is formula feeding shouldn't benefit from offers or the information that a shops stocks it.

I imagine that's fairly useful information for someone locally if outlets that would stock formula are sparse after a certain time at night.

GlitteringJasper · 09/04/2015 20:45

I don't understand what the problem is with advertising formula milk?

Beatrixemerald · 09/04/2015 20:46

Nope dont care that they sell it just that they are advertising and yes probably because I walk past it about 10 times a day

OP posts:
NerrSnerr · 09/04/2015 20:48

I can imagine there are loads of heavily pregnant women who have walked past that shop and decided that they are no longer going to breastfeed because Bargain Booze sell formula.

I don't think advertising and reducing formula should be illegal and I'm finding it hard to understand why you give a shit.

fulltothebrim · 09/04/2015 20:48

OP- I agree with you.

If others don't understand the law or don't agree with it that's fine, but these laws do exist, I fully agree with them ( in fact I would like to see them further extended to follow on milk too).

GlitteringJasper · 09/04/2015 20:48

Maybe the OP thinks FF mothers should have to do a secret knock at some dingy back street shack to get their hands on a box of formula?!

ghostyslovesheep · 09/04/2015 20:49

flipping heck I'd call the police and go the whole hog

well no I wouldn't because I have way more important things to do and can't bring myself to get my pants in a twist over a sign Hmm

AuntieStella · 09/04/2015 20:49

"I don't understand what the problem is with advertising formula milk?"

The problem is that it is illegal

HopLittleBunny · 09/04/2015 20:50

Good on them. They are being equal opportunities and considering the health of infants. We wouldn't want to exclude new mothers from being able to have a little tipple, that would be sexist, but obviously no one wants to encourage breast feeding mothers to get mortled on 20/20 and pass it on to the baby.

New mum can have a drink. Baby can get fed. Small business makes some money. Everyone's a winner.

Sparklingbrook · 09/04/2015 20:51

I understand the law but think it's a bit of a weird one.

But then I am very grateful to formula TBH.

Cantbelievethisishappening · 09/04/2015 20:51

in fact I would like to see them further extended to follow on milk too

Why?

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 09/04/2015 20:51

You've actually advertised it for them again OP because I had no idea Bargain Booze sold formula until this thread

I'll try not to mess up the number of scoops after drinking a box of cider

Cantbelievethisishappening · 09/04/2015 20:52

ghost Grin

Beatrixemerald · 09/04/2015 20:52

just to be clear,I have bought formula not a judgement on formula. I have explained why I find it irritating and yes I do have too much time on my hands and love it (will be going back to work vv soon) then i will have to worry about proper things

OP posts:
TheIronGnome · 09/04/2015 20:54

They should do BOGOF with a bottle of vodka

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 09/04/2015 20:54

By the time you posted on here and read all the replies, you could have googled Baby Milk Action and reported them

I'm surprised snd dismayed that no one has advocated calling 101 yet.

The other alternative, of course, is a citizen's arrest!

Beatrixemerald · 09/04/2015 20:54

Yeah the idea of getting wasted whilst looking after your child is indeed hilarious

LittleGreyCar · 09/04/2015 20:55

Gnome excellent idea Grin. Win win.

Cantbelievethisishappening · 09/04/2015 20:55

Advertising follow on milk allows manufacturers to promote their brand and name- so indirectly aiming at mothers with smaller babies.
