To wonder why there has STILL been no donation?

This has probably been done, I know there was a long running thread about this very subject but I can't find it?
So, several months on I see Dax's parents have still not made the promised donation to Ronald McDonald hospice. On March 2nd they updated the Facebook page to say they works be making the donation 'very soon', but still nothing.
Am I the only one thinking they have no intention of donating any money out of the tens of thousands donated to them? That in fact they intend to keep it all and deny the very charity that provided them with so much support in the early weeks of their Childs life?
In fact, I don't think im the only one judging by the comments on the Facebook page.
I think they're hoping it will blow over and if they keep quiet long enough people will forget.

Re the breast pump, some helpful Americans posted links to retailers that did them for under $ 100 but that was ignored, or was it deleted?

The whole thing is very grabby.

I think of the case of a poor father whose wife died suddenly while he was working offshore. He had to give up his job due to being made a single parent, and not being able to work offshore anymore. A far more genuine case, but he asked for charity donations, to be made directly.

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 10/04/2015 23:16

Ok, reading that message in black and white, this whole thing appalls me. They "may need" a fridge and microwave as they are "not sure" if there will be one. Just like they "may" have to pay medical bills because they're "not sure" the insurance will pay out. Angry And they'll probably get away with it.

Poor Dax.

HouseBot · 10/04/2015 23:26

It was confirmed that RMH provided all cooking facilities (and even meals!) so no microwave needed and the insurance covered the "boob sucker".

JoanHickson · 10/04/2015 23:35

They will never make a donation. Three times they said they would, each time they do nothing. The latest promise to donate with a time frame, has expired.

seaoflove · 10/04/2015 23:37

It does read as being very calculated. As if RMH wouldn't have cooking facilities Hmm. Or, y'know, wait and find out before asking for money for a fridge and microwave.

shewept · 11/04/2015 08:12

This has been the problem. They have made a list of stuff they need, with the implication its not provided and inflated the costs. Some people are too trusting and have just taken Trickys word for it. He has then ignored all advice to the contrary or deleted. He can only have deleted to ensure more money came in.

This is why I don't understand how its not fraud. He asked for money based on lies and deleted any comment that gave correct information. Like the American who posted the real cost a a breast pump.

He played on peoples assumptions that the US health service are money grabbers. Yes its expensive, however everything is provided. My dh got rushed into hospital there and needed blood tests. This was at 10pm at night, the blood tests were back in 1hour 30mins and he was very well looked after. There is no way they or the charity would tell a mother of a prem baby 'you need to pump you milk, so go buy a 2k breast pump' . But people assume they would because of the horror stories about their system that we here.

They were being looked after by one the of the best hospitals in NY (I believe it was the one Beyonce had her dd in) and one of the children's charities.

I would also say (in regards to TDs claim that Lees business is in the toilet because of the amount of time off he needed) that people struggle to find good pts, the pts I know have taken time off through injury or sickness etc and the majority always go back when they return to work. If he was such an amazing pt I am sure most of his clients, when hearing what happened, would have returned to him when he returned. TD also promised to keep his business going. I wonder why that didn't happen.

RebootYourEngine · 11/04/2015 08:51

If lees business has taken a hit its probably not due to time off but rather peoples views of lee. Who would want to be involved with someone who has scammed people.

youarekiddingme · 11/04/2015 09:01

More posts on the page. I see the 'about' bit now simply says donate direct to RMH and anyone commenting with new pages and no friends will be deleted.
Also notice the number of posts deleted - eg all the ones where people asked for donations back or suggested donating. Just the "aww Hun, u sld keep the money 4 lil Dax future" posts remain up until yesterday. Lucky there are so many people who have screen shots of the deleted messages. Surely they should have accounted for that?

shewept · 11/04/2015 09:07

reboot that's what I think too.

youare I don't think they think anything through. The problem is they aren't as intelligent or as sneaky as they think they are.

VenetiaFleet · 11/04/2015 09:35

New to this thread and have just read the whole thing. Why were they asking for things like prams and nursery furniture once they were home?mIf you're having a baby then surely you would budget for things like that? Yes Dax was premature but it's not like she gave birth without knowing she was pregnant. Two first class tickets to New York also indicate that they weren't exactly short of cash.

RebootYourEngine · 11/04/2015 10:07

Exactly Venetia - if you are 6 months pregnant and dont have things for your baby you dont go on holiday and leave yourself with no money.

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 11/04/2015 10:49

Are there screenshots of them asking for prams/furniture?

Ubik1 · 11/04/2015 10:53

I've been following this although to be honest I think a fool and his money are easily parted.

It would be great if they made a donation to the charity that supported them I really hope they do.

One thing - is a special breast pump required for premature babies? Surely breasts are breasts no matter how small the baby.

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 11/04/2015 11:12

You don't need a special breast pump (if I did no one told me anyway!) but as a premature baby often struggles to feed she might've needed to express more, or perhaps needed a hospital grade one. They aren't £2k though!

ThatIsNachoCheese · 11/04/2015 11:52

They aren't going to donate imo. And in my experience nothing will bloody happen. Anyone remember Bobby in Devon whose father raised a shit load of money and then set up his own charity. It took years for him to be punished for that and he was so blatant about it:
www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-23968707

shewept · 11/04/2015 16:53

The whole breast pump thing was ridiculous and just showed them for what they were. They thought if they said they needed a special one everyone would believe them.

JoanHickson · 11/04/2015 17:29

They are now claiming they await confirmation the money has been transferred to RMHNY. I will believe it when I see it. I predict we will not be given the figure donated.

DancingDays · 11/04/2015 17:39

The tone of that update is different to all the others.Hmm

kewtogetin · 11/04/2015 17:42

It's easy enough to find out how much the donation was.

OP posts:
shewept · 11/04/2015 17:47

Where is the update? What does it say? I can't see it on the fb page.

Also was the fund on go fund me? I found this on another website? Is this another fund?
gogetfunding.com/project/dax-s-tale-of-new-york

TheFairyCaravan · 11/04/2015 17:50

There was £5k that went to Katie's paypal account before the GoFundme account was set up, too.

yallahabibi · 11/04/2015 17:51

Guessing all donations have to be declared by the charity but you can select be anonymous in name and amount on public forums .

JoanHickson · 11/04/2015 17:53

They his how much they donated and deleted a post asking how much they donated. Hmm

fluffymouse · 11/04/2015 17:53

Good point Joan

Now they have been pressured to donate I wonder if they will make a token donation, then not reveal the amount?

she wept the update is a comment on their latest update

fluffymouse · 11/04/2015 17:56

Really Joan ? That's terrible.

I think it would be good for as many people as possible to ask how much will be donated.
