To wonder why there has STILL been no donation?

This has probably been done, I know there was a long running thread about this very subject but I can't find it?
So, several months on I see Dax's parents have still not made the promised donation to Ronald McDonald hospice. On March 2nd they updated the Facebook page to say they works be making the donation 'very soon', but still nothing.
Am I the only one thinking they have no intention of donating any money out of the tens of thousands donated to them? That in fact they intend to keep it all and deny the very charity that provided them with so much support in the early weeks of their Childs life?
In fact, I don't think im the only one judging by the comments on the Facebook page.
I think they're hoping it will blow over and if they keep quiet long enough people will forget.

Sorry my comment was to loki not solid

DragonWithAGirlTattoo · 09/04/2015 21:22

oh, ok then StillStayingClassySanDiego, lets never talk of this again.... or anything else ever again

SolidGoldBrass · 09/04/2015 21:27

Either these people are identifiable and traceable as fraudsters - they stated they were raising funds for a charity when they were not acting with that charity's backing or knowledge - in which case it's quite probably a police matter - or they just pulled off a legal bit of scammery ie asked for 'help' and were given it, got a nice big bag of money with no more than vague hints that they would share it with a charity at some point and then decided not to do so. The second may not be all that ethical but still: tough shit if you were mug enough to send them money. You'll know next time to confine your charitable impulses to helping organisations that you actually know something about.

WalkingThePlank · 09/04/2015 22:13

Oh my, I've just seen the This Morning interview. Lee's voice is awful and we heard a lot of his voice. Surely the mostly female audience would have liked to have heard Katie's story. Poor woman, neither she or her baby are special in that family.

drbonnieblossman · 09/04/2015 22:32

Just watched the interview. God does he love the sound of his own voice. Which is odd enough as far as voices go - as if he borrowed his nana's false teeth. Frankly if his high protein diet turned him into a scheming bell end, he's welcome to it.

I think there's little chance of a donation. They are opportunists- obviously not setting out for this to happen but pretty quickly seeing how they could benefit. Karma is great but that won't put money in the charity's coffers.

AyeAmarok · 09/04/2015 22:45

Eeek I just watched the interview too. I had to turn it off after about 90 because the cringe became too much for me.

I suspect that poor Katie doesn't want to be involved in any of this.

My word the dad is a wally.

MysticMugBug · 09/04/2015 23:08

I made a status update on Facebook 'encouraging' the couple to give up the funds to the charity that so generously provided for them.
I tagged both 'Dax's tale of New York' and the RMHC uk.
So angry Angry

MysticMugBug · 09/04/2015 23:09

'Dax's Tale of New York you need to donate people's hard earned money to Ronald McDonald House Charities now the insurance paid for baby's healthcare and your living costs.
Don't be so selfish as to squander it on your own selves.... I'm not the only one to think you're fraudsters, check out the mumsnet discussion:'

trufflesnout · 09/04/2015 23:19

Sorry if I gave you the impression I had donated SGB - I have not. Yes, tough shit to those who did, but it doesn't make the parents hoarding the money any less immoral.

HouseBot · 10/04/2015 01:19

I also saw the This Morning interview - which amazingly is billed as if they still had to find £130,000. Didn't notice any thanks to the people who donated, or the hospital. And Lee has a comedy voice!

shewept · 10/04/2015 07:05

Solid and StillStaying Yes its still going on. Yes WE are discussing it. However, since its the internet...you 2 don't have to discuss it. No one is forcing you.

I wonder if you 2 walk up to people in RL and tell them to stop having discussions that displease you.

FFS there are loads of threads on this website I find boring or ridiculous or just not my cup of tea. So I don't comment and leave it alone. Why people moan a people for discussing something is beyond me.

albertcamus · 10/04/2015 08:28

What sticks in my mind is poor Dax, paraded on the This Morning programme, bringing up his milk. By all means be proud of your beautiful baby, enjoy your five minutes of fame, but please put his interests first. He's not a toy, he's a vulnerable human being for whom you're responsible. This is not a great start in life for him; hopefully the peer-pressure of this discussion will endure that the funds generously donated will help RMH with other babies like Dax, and he will not have to grow up with the stigma of this hanging over him. To suppress that discussion is to play into the hands of those who have cynically engineered & stage-managed this mess.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 10/04/2015 08:28

Of course discuss til your heart's content but aren't you just going round in circles?

Is there going to be a donation?, the answer is probably no so are you hoping they're going to come clean and admit they've spent it elsewhere?

Is that likely?

DragonWithAGirlTattoo · 10/04/2015 09:12

StillStayingClassySanDiego, let me introduce to you to something called the 'internet' and in there, there are things called 'forums' (or fora if you like) and thats where people go to chat and talk about things and yes, those conversations can and do go round in circles.....

If this thread stops another set of people taking advantage of a similar situation, or stops people donating to a similar advantagus scam, then its done a good job

CrystalSkull · 10/04/2015 09:20

I'd like to see someone who donated sue them - but perhaps I'm just vindictive! Grin

shewept · 10/04/2015 09:32

stillstaying and what if we are going round in circles? No one is forcing you to read it. So don't if you don't like it.

WE are discussing it. YOU don't have to. If you were in a coffee shop or a restaurant would you lean over and tell the next table their conversation was pointless, or just carry on with your own?

You say 'discuss what you like' well, gee, thanks for that!

What actually saying discuss what you like as long as you think its got a point.Confused

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 10/04/2015 09:37

There was no aggression in my posts particularly my last one which asked a question.

Why the aggression from some?

fluffymouse · 10/04/2015 09:45

I disagree with some in that I think this thread has got a point. I don't care so much about those who donated, as it was up to them, but the worthy charity who has seemingly been cheated out of a large donation.

Maintaining may result in a donation. It may not of course, but it is worth trying. At the very least anyone thinking of pulling off a scam like this in the future would think twice.

spudholes · 10/04/2015 10:46

The FBI in New york are now involved. That was fast!

shewept · 10/04/2015 10:47

There no aggression intended my posts, apologies if you feel that. I feel you are being rude. You have wondered into a conversation that you don't particularly want to be part and telling people they shouldn't discuss, because you don't see the point.

Again, do you do this in RL?

JoanHickson · 10/04/2015 10:56

The FB I?

youarekiddingme · 10/04/2015 11:15

I tried googling to watch This Morning interview. However there is very little on Google as data protection has meant no access to lots of information?

trufflesnout · 10/04/2015 11:22

Whaa spud how did you find that out!?

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 10/04/2015 11:22

No rudeness on my part, as pointed out it is an internet forum and the threads are free for anyone to give their opinion.

It's not rl on here though, is it?, no one has to wait to be asked to contribute what they thinkConfused

DragonWithAGirlTattoo · 10/04/2015 11:26

FBI???
