Threads I've read in the last half hour so....
I'm spending more than what a significant part of the UK earns in a year on a holiday
I'm voting Conservative
Owen Jones is a skid mark
I love UKIP immigration policy.

Us Socialists are unwelcome. AIBU? Or am I just reading the wrong bits?

Owen Jones is a misogynist. Lots of folk are, to be fair.

making his trip and probably his existence, worthwhile

Boofy, this made me laugh so much!

ouryve · 18/03/2015 23:20

Of course, that's 4 threads out of hundreds.

And I have been disappointed in OJ, lately. He was such an earnest boy.

ouryve · 18/03/2015 23:34

I've done some massive unfollowing when I've inadvertently become caught up in a Twitter trans debate I didn't sign up for. There's a terrifyingly fine line between interesting perspectives on gender and absolutely raging.

ouryve · 18/03/2015 23:38

Some of the most intolerant people on MN are lefties/liberals. Liberal Fascists I call 'em.

I bet they all paint their fences green. Bastards.

GallicGarlic · 18/03/2015 23:42

I crochet my fences out of lentils. Green ones, of course.

BackCrackAndNappySack · 19/03/2015 02:24

Disaffected socialists don't suddenly get all miffy about immigration.

Unless they are Billy Bragg. Or um, the Nazis.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 19/03/2015 06:34

One man's "liberal fascist " is another man's "person who is intolerant of bigoted intolerance ".

chilephilly · 19/03/2015 06:51

Blimey. Should my fence be green?
grabs paintbrush
I do have a big red placard on the front of my house, if that counts.

The holiday thread amazed me.
Hopefully, the ones spending £8 k on two weeks in August aren't the same ones bemoaning some baby boomers for taking a few holidays a year.

ArgyMargy · 19/03/2015 07:10

Well as I managed to spend over £2.5k on a weekend at centerparcs I think £30k for a South American jaunt is possibly a bargain!

YABU as many people have said the overriding tone of MN is leftie Guardian reader. But maybe we all just see what we want to see?

BringMeTea · 19/03/2015 07:18

Oh no! Is Billy Bragg now a UKIP supporter? How did I miss this?

LikeIcan · 19/03/2015 07:33

Sorry, but 8k for 2 weeks abroad in August is about right, esp if that includes spending money. And as someone said, a week at Centre Parcs costs about 3k in August. ( dh still moaning about that )

But op, last time I looked, Liberals/ socialists also took holidays. ( & not just camping in Wales )
Plus, I vote Tory, I've never heard of Owen Jones, & UKIP's immigration policy does make sense.

No he isn't a UKIP supporter but he came out publicly a few years ago (around about the time of Gordon Brown's 'just some bigoted woman' comment iirc, and when the BNP were making headway across Dagenham and east London, and he said that he had empathy for working class white people who felt invisible and disenfranchised and ignored because of the wave of immigrants and the rapid pace of change going on in their communities. That's not verbatim, but that was the general gist of it.

But that's okay because he's Billy Bragg, that lovely, cuddly Communist Poster Boy-next-door, so people listened and head tilted a bit.

If Nigel Farage says the same thing he's the devil incarnate.

LikeIcan · 19/03/2015 08:02

It depends where you go Kim, but it's not 'outragous' - as I said, we spent ££££ on a week at center parcs years ago. Holidays are expensive, & most of the time a total waste of money, but it's nice to get away sometimes. & tbh, if I could only afford a tent in a muddy field somewhere I'd rather stay at home.

Edsgreypatch · 19/03/2015 08:04

You forgot the multi millionaire bit.

You read the threads you want to read.

Why do you think the threads you pick are representative of MN?

MN has people from all different backgrounds and all sorts of opinions, which is one reason I like it.
It would be most boring if everyone was a Labour or Green voter, with impeccable environmental credentials. But those don't tend to post or get as much attention, I suppose.

Had me all excited there about your Greek prices, Kim! Then I remembered to multiply by number of people. Damn. Must sell a child or two.
