Threads I've read in the last half hour so....
I'm spending more than what a significant part of the UK earns in a year on a holiday
I'm voting Conservative
Owen Jones is a skid mark
I love UKIP immigration policy.

Us Socialists are unwelcome. AIBU? Or am I just reading the wrong bits?
(preparing to be told to feck off to Russia)

So, you despair of MN because some posters don't do or believe exactly the same as you...? Confused

OddFodd · 17/03/2015 21:13

The ukip thread is fairly obvious from the get go. And if I had 8k to spend on a holiday I probably would (although I'd go somewhere better than Cyprus). And yeah, Owen Jones is a skid mark Grin

I wouldn't ever vote Tory though Smile

BathshebaDarkstone · 17/03/2015 21:15

Bair, me too! The quote was even better: bumptious little skidmark! Grin

ilovesooty · 17/03/2015 21:17

I don't know who either Aiden Turner or Owen Jones are.

AllTheMadmen · 17/03/2015 21:18

In fact any communists would be welcome, we're all in it together

Yes indeed and are Fascists welcome too?

Then they can all sit around and discuss how their ideologies have murdered and destroyed lives whilst killing off the last of our endangered poor hedgehogs for their ever selfish ends, hedgehogs who have done nothing and are so innocent Angry

AllTheMadmen · 17/03/2015 21:19

ilove Poldark, please dont mention AT in same sentence as a man called a ....

OttiliaVonBCup · 17/03/2015 21:22

What exactly is wrong with voting for different parties?
I thought that's how democracy worked.

I'm happy to accept people have different political beliefs, why can't you?

bumbleymummy · 17/03/2015 21:22

AllTheMadmen - tell them to target grey squirrels instead... :)

OttiliaVonBCup · 17/03/2015 21:23

And WTF is Owen Jones?

Fleecyleesy · 17/03/2015 21:23

I do not understand why the poster spending £30k on a holiday is bothering you. Most posters on that thread are spending a small fraction of that, with some spending £0. The poster with all that money can spend it how they wish - it doesn't affect the rest of us. Just wish them a nice holiday and forget it! There is not any point in feeling jealous.

HootyMcTooty · 17/03/2015 21:23

I'm a socialist and think Owen Jones is a skidmark. Telling women they're doing feminism wrong is the worst example of male privilege.

Join in with the pointless threads, they're more fun.

InAndOfMyself · 17/03/2015 21:25

YABU - if you only want to read threads that agree with your POV no wonder you like Owen Jones

atticusclaw · 17/03/2015 21:25

We didn't actually kill any hedgehogs…...just discussed how to cook them if we needed to so that the spines came off easily. Squirrels would do just as nicely.

FreudiansSlipper · 17/03/2015 21:26

a year ago there were a few on here a very few who said they would vote for UKIP. I remember one changing her mind when it was pointed out their polices regarding issues around children with disabilities and schooling

now sadly there are quite a few and more though not supporting or claiming that they shall vote for them but are warming to UKIP

YABVVU

The holiday thread - only one person is spending an annual salary on holidays. Absolutely nobody else is even coming close. And, if you can afford it, why not? Travel is one of the best things to spend money on, imo. Much better than stuff.

Conservative thread - why not? Everyone's got a political opinion. Of course that opinion is going to be conservative for a large percentage of the population.

Owen Jones - well, I don't even know who he is which is probably far worse than having a negative opinion of him.

UKIP Immigration - mmmm, well, I don't agree with the OP but then nor do that many people on the thread. Plus - at least OP isn't going to vote UKIP

I've seen many a worse thread than your examples.

ilovesooty · 17/03/2015 21:28

Oh Poldark. Thanks - not a patch on the original IMHO.

whoopsbunny · 17/03/2015 21:37
  1. We spend a lot on holidays - because we love them.
  1. Some MNetters are tory - a fair proportion of the UK are tory, or they wouldn't be in power. I don't vote for them.
  1. I quite like Owen Jones
  1. UKIP are fascist twats (and not because of their immigration policy)- and I fear they'll do well in this election. I also suspect that a fear UKIP people post on here - because they know that MN is influential (a bit) in the election.

ps. are we having Nige in for a webchat???

bumbleymummy · 17/03/2015 21:38

Not as prickly atticus. :) besides, if you're going to kill something off you may as well do the little red squirrels a favour.

OTheHugeManatee · 17/03/2015 21:45

Overall MN is distinctly biased in a leftish direction. So sorry that despite this you have been exposed to the odd anomalous interruption to your Owen Jones loving echo chamber Grin

Diversity is healthy. Celebrate it!

'Tis all part of the rich tapestry of life, innit? Grin

miniavenger · 17/03/2015 21:48

It would be boring world if we all thought the same and no one challenged each other: quieter-certainly, more peaceful- probably, boring and unstimulating-definitely in the end.

lemonade30 · 17/03/2015 21:49

yes, YAB slightly U.

look, MN is thankfully more devoid of (right wing) dickheads than its notable alternative.

believe me (comrade) Wink

Heckler · 17/03/2015 21:51

I am a particularly left tree hugging guardian reader, and I also think that Owen Jones is a skid mark. His pseudo femanism that includes telling women how to do feminism boils my piss.
