If the BBC sack him the other side will snap him up in a heart beat.
I am very Hmm about the whole thing. No publicity is bad publicity and all that....

SunnyBaudelaire · 12/03/2015 13:45

oh yeh there is that, we would have him on ITV.

swampster · 12/03/2015 13:49

There are a number of 'Sack Jeremy Clarkson' petitions. The one linked to here has 5,086 of 100,000 signatures so far.

Here is a Sack Jeremy Clarkson petition with 18,440 of 20,000 signatures. It has been going for a while.

And here is Don't bring back Clarkson with 2,169 of 3,000 signatures.

I'm sure there are more! It would be good if there was just the one, but I guess it is worth signing them all.

silverbangles66 · 12/03/2015 13:55

Is this still frothing on? You'd sign a petition to have someone sacked on the basis of what?

You don't like his language? His views?

McCarthyism's not dead then!

4,000 signatures could do something far more worthwhile.

He's just an easy target. And would be as amused as I to read some of the personal and spiteful invective from those accusing him of all sorts, but mainly it seems bring a middle class bloke they don't like.

So ignore him.

Honestly? I've had that discussion with DH. According to him, all that malarkey about JC been suspended is just political correctness gone too far Hmm

Ok. So a man is employed in a company. He allegedly hit a co worker. So HR are investigating and he is suspended in the mean time. The man is also on a final warning, so not the 'one of our best members ever' type of person.
Should the situation not be 'let's see what HR is finding'? Why on earth would you put a petition online for something that has allegely happened?
Either he has punch someone and then he could well face criminal charges. Or he hasn't and then HR will find out??

Now, my own opinion is that not having Top Gear on this Sunday will a hell of a lot of money to the BBC so I doubt they woulf have done thst unless there was a real good reason.

UndecidedNow · 12/03/2015 14:04

silver but then would you sign a petition to keep someone in his job wo being 100% sure he hasn't actually hit the guy? I mean would be happy to sign the other petition going round even though he has acted in an unacceptable way?

Imo both aren't acceptable. What they show is that are people who find it funny and are happy for him to carry on with racist comments etc (regardless if it's his on screen persona or not). And that some people have a real issue about all his inutendo on race and disabilities etc and are screaming 'No More'.

So maybe the issue is 'Is it acceptable to make jokes on race or disabilities or women?' Because you know 'it's just a joke'....

IreneA78 · 12/03/2015 14:13

Eye witnesses seem to be saying there was no physical violence.

OfaFrenchMind · 12/03/2015 14:28

I signed the other one. It's going up to more than 700,000 :)

silverbangles66 · 12/03/2015 14:47

undecided I wouldn't dream of signing a petition to have someone sacked OR to keep their job on the basis of anything, let alone a vague statement about an alleged incident.

I'm a woman and I'm from what some call a minoroty and I think he's very funny.

I'm very much of the 'make a joke about everything' camp. I think it's a slippery slope otherwise.

I hear more truly offensive and upsetting views on the Today programme, especially from some of the racist mysogynists wheeled in to give a 'balanced' view.

Do you think it is OK to make a joke about racism then?

A slippery slope to what? Equality? Respect?

Clarkson is NOT funny

Yes he is I'm afraid, brilliantly funny. I'm clearly not in the minority either.

SunnyBaudelaire · 12/03/2015 15:40

'brilliantly funny'?
Some of you need to get out more.
Mind you the prime Top Gear demographic is known to be under tens and their mothers, so there you go.

richthegreatcornholio · 12/03/2015 15:47

Lol! You've got the stats for that then have you? It appeals to all of us who love arseing about in cars and many of those who don't, that's part of its charm.

SoupDragon · 12/03/2015 15:47

Actually, I think you probably are in the minority, given the size of the population. Thank god.

Thinking about it, that's a possibility. Certainly there are more people vocally for than against. We need more like him in this sea of do-gooding, PC tossers though. I'd certainly back JC for PM.

SunnyBaudelaire · 12/03/2015 15:57

" We need more like him in this sea of do-gooding, PC tossers though. "

you see, people who start on about 'PC' would rather just be offensive to anyone who is not a white hetero male. go on rich, go out on your street and start being 'non PC' you little hero. Hope you get a smack in the chops.

SoupDragon · 12/03/2015 15:58

You would back a racist tosser for MP? Vote UKIP then.

richthegreatcornholio · 12/03/2015 16:02

Vote UKIP then.

I would, but that would be a vote for the Labour scumcunts so Conservative it will have to be.

It's the extremes of PC that are the issue, I wouldn't set out to deliberately offend someone in the form of hatred that's just impolite, however it's nonsense like 'lunchtime supervisors' and 'recycling operatives' and crap like that. I certainly like a joke about sterotypes as much as the next man but it's all about the context and purely for jokes. Frankie Boyle is my favourite comedian - about as un PC as you can get.
