Argh!!!!!

I felt fairly annoyed with gender specific clothes for DS. Now I have DD it makes me want to scream. She's not a fucking princess. She's hopefully going to be a strong independent woman.

Any tips for stores selling non pink non crap girls clothes would be MOST welcome :)

It's a pain. Gap ' s not tooooo bad. Interested to see what others come up with.

Agree it is awful. Gives me the rage. There are shops out there but you really have to search hard. Can't help much as I'm not in the UK these days.

Sainsbury's spring range at the moment is blue white and yellow.
Why can't she wear boys' clothes?

Bigger Next stores do whole ranges of different colours and patterns

H&M have a variety of colour

Boots Mini Club, though I find there girls stuff is often limited to red and blue

There are non pink girls clothes absolutely everywhere, its never been a better to time to buy them. I think your rage is colouring everying a shade of dark angry pink.

You could also just buy clothes...even if they are in the boys section!

Really? Where are you looking. I have two DDs and they have hardly any pink in their wardrobes.

Their clothes are from Next, M&S, Zara, John Lewis....

I really don't find it a problem.

Totally with you OP. I go to buy clothes for my 2 year old niece and you can't move for pink and glitter and princessy stuff and 'daddy's little angel' type grimness. I buy her 'boy's stuff' i.e. in any other colour than pink, which happens to be in the 'boy' section. Mind you, 'boy' clothes can be a whole other level of grim, but its easier to find gender neutral clothes there.

Do you have name it stuff in the UK. We have it in ROI and I normally get my 2 kitted out without too much pink. All their presents are usually pink though.

I used to get them from mothercare for dd. they were OK and I think next maybe too.

But I often got her baby clothes from boys section such as grey or beige ddungarees. This is great as I now use them for ds.

I find the boys clothes with various forms of transport on them baffling - why should boys have a transport fixation? I like the stuff with monsters and dinosaurs on, and the "neutral" ranges with various anianimals.

Have seen neutral ish stuff in tesco - jungle / farm animals etc.

Bought some lovely stuff from JL the other week in non pink...

I have a jumper from Boden that I bought as DS needed something spotty for a nursery thing (also a lovely jumper, so not just bought for that!) but it was in the girl's range, as I could not find spotty for boys at that time. Whenever DD wears it, poeple think she's a boy! I remember at the time I bought it thinking why on earth has this been labelled as "girl" and to be honest, I would prefer it if shops just said unisex or children.

Why shouldn't a girl wear a t-shirt with dinosaurs on it... That is my main bug-bear!

Really? There are non pink clothes everywhere. Try h&m, boden, sainsburys, next, jojo (quite pink but not at all princessy) to name a few. Is your daughter a baby? The choice gets better after 2, I think.

Never had this problem and DD is 8. She hates pink anyway and has rarely worn it (even though I actually love bright pink - on me!).

I love Nutmeg (Morrisons) as they often do a lot of greys, mustards, purples etc. H&M are bright too. I mix and match with some boys things, so lots of t-boys t-shirts and jumpers with leggings and boots.

Actually all shops do non-pink stuff, you just have to look. Even Next - some Next girls clothes are, imo, bloody awful for pastels and frills and princess statements, but then they also do loads of blues and greens.

You do know that a) what she wears won't help her define who is is as a person, and b) as she grows up she'll have her own tastes

(I only says this as a mum who doesn't like dresses, pastels or cute pictures of adorable kittens on girls clothes, but as DD gets older it doesn't matter that I'd rather she wore leggings and a Transformers t-shirt, she's getting her own taste)

John Lewis was a sea of lovely yellows and blues, when I walked through, the other week. M&S seem to be trying to move away from pink, too.

Debenhams, OTOH... blech! (and I like pink, but it was pink overkill!)

Plenty of non-pink stuff around! As others have said, sainsburys have some nice yellow and blue bits at the mo, and H&M and larger Next stores have loads. I find Mamas and Papas are usually quite good for bright colours. Also mothercare.

I think that because this is so on your radar for some reason, you are only able to see all the pink that is available, and not the plethora of other colours.

I like Frugi a lot. Also LoveItLoveItLoveIt (not cheap though), Boden have quite a lot of non pink.

Makes me mad too but during last summer it gave me rage from the comfort aspect too as majority were all bloody frilly and had rough lace etc when the boys selections had lovely soft cotton rompers!
Can sometimes get lucky in next but I found I bought most from eBay (white company, jojo etc) vertbaudet were ok to!

Dd had a pink loving phase at 2/3. I went with it. Now aged 6 she likes black and yellow.
