AIBU to think MN should ban grammar and spelling pedantry on all forums except the one explicitly for this purpose.
It is so F*cking tedious!

How about

Tedius Bile - a shade of puce akin to the vomitous outpourings of people with such pallid inner lives, that the thrill of a misplaced apostrophe is the closest thing to dangerous that they will ever experience'

How do you 'nicely' point out to some stranger that there's a grammatical error in their post. However you do it, it looks rude and patronising.

MetallicBeige · 18/02/2015 18:43

How many "pointing out nicely" comments does one thread need though? The type of person who takes pleasure in it won't be content to leave it if there's already a correction in there will they?
No no, they're too arrogant for that and it is their comment that is the one that will make the op see the error of their ways.

hazeyjane · 18/02/2015 18:43

But coming onto a thread, ignoring everything they post, just to point out there mistake is just insulting.

TwatFaceBitch · 18/02/2015 18:44

Aww I soz should of really thought of
Yoo wen I right. Coz I wood rarther you be hapy wen yoo read my stuff. init

TwatFaceBitch · 18/02/2015 18:45

Last post Four confused

DrankSangriaInThePark · 18/02/2015 18:45

Pointing out someone's shortcomings "nicely" is an oxymoron at best, and passive aggressive wankery at worst.

ScrambledEggAndToast · 18/02/2015 18:48

Oh I detest this. Someone asks a serious question where they are really upset and need advice and a load of pedants spend ages pointing out that they used your instead of you're.

Even if it's HAS to be said (which it doesn't) only one person needs to say it.

Ohfourfoxache · 18/02/2015 18:51

Bad grammar/spelling mistakes

For the love of God - does it really and truly matter??? It's a chat forum FFS, not a submission to The Lancet.

Which thread are you talking about ConfusedInBath? I've lost the thread now. You certainly aren't talking about the woman attacking a baby in Boots one.

Mintyy · 18/02/2015 18:58

I've lost the thread of your argument, I should have said.

TwatFaceBitch · 18/02/2015 18:59

Could of learnt it at school, might of learnt it at school, could of given a flying shit,
Would I really of given a flying shit?

Do I know it is Have yes
Will I write it as have just to please you NO
Deal with it

Behindthepaintedgarden · 18/02/2015 19:03

What amazes me is that despite the majority view, on this and other similar threads, being that correcting spelling and grammar is rude and not appreciated by most people who receive these corrections, some posters still stubbornly insist that they're only being helpful, they do it nicely etc etc etc Are they just not hearing what other posters are saying, or do they simply not care?

MetallicBeige · 18/02/2015 19:07

They don't care Behind, so eager are they to demonstrate their clever cloggsness, actual feelings of a person don't come into the equation. Somehow I doubt they're like that in real life. Hmm

hazeyjane · 18/02/2015 19:08

Hmm, I'm now wondering about self righteous tedious bile

MetallicBeige · 18/02/2015 19:13

I would'nt of thought off doin that Confused, but; if it irk's the anoying pedannt's.

DrankSangriaInThePark · 18/02/2015 19:14

The thread we are all talking about Confused has a first page which is nothing but snotty cows ridiculing the OP.

It's worth a read, just to add names to the twatsheet. And to see where most of us are coming from.

It's the one Mintyy is talking about. Have a read, it's a shameful eye-opener as to the level some people on here are prepared to stoop to "look clever".

MetallicBeige · 18/02/2015 19:16

Why are you defending it? If it's not something you do.
It's so rude and it can be really hurtful to people who are on here for support. There are times in people's lives where grammar is the very least of their priorities, people rushing to correct that should bear it in mind.
