When it only takes a minute to mix an egg with some flour and milk?

OP posts:
wowfudge · 12/02/2015 18:15

Because they find it convenient.

ourglass · 12/02/2015 18:16

Because they can't even be arsed to do that, like me Grin

I8toys · 12/02/2015 18:16

Some on my tesco shop - they are lucky to get pancakes at all!

MrsTerryPratchett · 12/02/2015 18:16

Just add milk and eggs? So it's flour, then. At 50 times the price.

ThatBloodyWoman · 12/02/2015 18:17

Because their flour has weevils.

Jumblebee · 12/02/2015 18:17

Because they don't want to do even more dishes and clean up shitloads of flour that ALWAYS goes everywhere?

DarylDixonsDarlin · 12/02/2015 18:18

Its not the batter I find annoying to make, its cooking the damn things! I just buy ready made pancakes, fry them for a min each, done innit.

MaidOfStars · 12/02/2015 18:18

You only need to add milk to mine.

I really can't cook anything flour based. I've tried, many many times. Judge away but you can fuck off.

mixes never work. far easier to make your own.

It's a huge con tbh. everyone has eggs and milk and flour at home.

It's available for pennies of u get value stuff (which is fine btw) and you get more than half a dozen from one bag of cheap all purpose flour.

talk about a rip off

NickiFury · 12/02/2015 18:19

Because I can buy whatever I want without caring what anyone else thinks Smile.

WipsGlitter · 12/02/2015 18:19

You only add water. I've bought it before. It's very handy. Un-hoik your judgy pants.

drudgetrudy · 12/02/2015 18:20

Yeah-because they want to Grin

WipsGlitter · 12/02/2015 18:21

"Everyone" has milk flour and eggs in - nope, they don't. Obviously or they wouldn't sell the mix.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 12/02/2015 18:21

We have used it at school at an outdoor activity, much easier than faffing with eggs, flour and milk, the children loved them.

Thanks for your thoughts though Daffodil

MrsPeterQuill · 12/02/2015 18:22

Add water, shake, cook, eat.

Far easier than fannying about with several bowls, mixer, weighing ingredients etc. And I like baking usually but pancake mix in a bottle is piss easy.

ClumsyNinja · 12/02/2015 18:22

Because I can't be arsed to clean up the mess afterwards? Wink

SweepTheHalls · 12/02/2015 18:23

I take it camping Smile

MrsTerryPratchett · 12/02/2015 18:23

Some you add only water and/or milk. Some you add milk and eggs to.

It's not my bag and seems an enormous waste of money but who cares if it makes people happy?

Latara · 12/02/2015 18:24

I don't keep flour or eggs at home. I like to buy the fresh M&S batter for pancakes. It's really tasty.

kittentwo · 12/02/2015 18:24

I think that about frozen Yorkshire puddings and roast potatoes too would rather go without.

MaidOfStars · 12/02/2015 18:25

mixes never work. far easier to make your own

I can vouch that:

  1. Premixed stuff DOES work.
  2. It is manifestly NOT easier to make your own mix.

Please compare:

  1. Add milk/water to premix to indicated line. Put on cap. Shake bottle. Pour directly into pan. Chuck bottle away.
  2. Weigh/measure flour. Measure milk. Crack eggs. Whisk in bowl. Ladle mixture into pan. Throw away egg shells. Wash up bowl, whisk and ladle.
howtoapproachthis · 12/02/2015 18:25

why on earth not buy it?

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 12/02/2015 18:26

hmmm I used to wonder this but a friend who lives on his own said it was because it was enough for a fwe pancakes and a couple of yorkshire puds for him without having to have a whole bag of flour in the cupboad going all weevilly

MightyMightyToros · 12/02/2015 18:26

You need to get out more OP.

NickiFury · 12/02/2015 18:26

Frozen yorkshires are acers, frozen roast potatoes not so much Sad. I wish they were.
