Booing God Save Our Gracious Queen

I've sung Gwlad, Gwlad, etc in Welsh, (easier to sing yn Gymreig than write, [is that mutation correct?]), but was disgusted to hear the boos for God Save the Queen.
I love Wales & feel really proud to have my Mynediad Welsh certificate, but this hatred of the British national anthem. Really? Is it necessary?

You have no idea what any of us do and don't like *Tinks. Lay off the 'I'm SO superior' shutdown effort, it makes you look like a twat.

Tobyjugg · 06/02/2015 22:03

Probably the same dumb shits who deface English language road signs on the A5.

Tinks42 · 06/02/2015 22:04

I can live with that Grin

Waitingonasunnyday · 06/02/2015 22:07

Sorry we can't have Jerusalem, heard it at too many funerals, so would be in tears at major sporting events. Mind you I am not acturly a sports superstar so maybe no one cares. I'll shut up and drink me gin Wine well done engerland.

HangingBasketCase · 06/02/2015 22:14

"God Save our Unelected Head of State". It's bloody awful, I hate it and firmly believe the Uk deserves better as our anthem.

FrancesNiadova · 06/02/2015 22:16

Nos dda pawb!

GSTQ is so dire it deserves to be booed! Also a bit arrogant and weird for England to use it when playing another UK team - get your own bloody anthem and hopefully a better one.

GSTQ - Jerusalem
GSTQ - Jerusalem (or even LOHAG)

Know which I'd prefer!

HangingBasketCase · 06/02/2015 22:23

Did you know that in many Welsh schools the kids are expected to stand and sing the national anthem before going home at the end of the day. I used to work in a particular school in Wales and at the end of the day hearing every child singing the anthem was quite moving.

Celticlass2 · 06/02/2015 22:38

Really Hanging Moving is not the word I'd use! Sounds scarily nationalistic to me.

Llareggub · 06/02/2015 22:47

Not in any Welsh school I've ever been in. I've never heard of that happening, apart from on St Davids Day.

I'm off to watch the Wales v England (women) on Sunday.

Tinks42 · 06/02/2015 23:40

Hope all of your husbands/boyfriends show you the same support in other areas.

I will never understand this mentality ever.

Tinks42 · 07/02/2015 00:04

is it if you cant beat them join them then?

is it that he's a bloke so you need to get with the hobbies?

is it that of course he won't support what I like, that's just a bloke isnt it?

Do you think in a million years that he would try to understand netball or any other womens sport?

The answer would be NO.

Tinks42 · 07/02/2015 00:06

i have to hide this now due to women not knowing how much of an underclass they still are and supporting the things that will always make it so.

Bambambini · 07/02/2015 00:27

Calm down Tinks. My husband comes along and watches me play netball if it makes you feel better. He thinks it's a great game. I've played netball against the NZ navy - big tattooed guys who took it fairly seriously and played to win. Are you drunk or something?

FightOrFlight · 07/02/2015 00:40

I think she hits the sherry pretty hard around this time of night Bam She was the same on the Dishwasher thread - mounting hysteria and serious overinvestment in the choices of other women.

Bambambini · 07/02/2015 00:59

Gadzooks, don't bring Sherry into it - that well known drink of weak little women. Where the men get to down the real drinks and a bottle of sherry is set aside for the sheilas!

crazypenguin · 07/02/2015 08:06

Actually I bought a season ticket for myself...
I enjoy the game and my DP often doesn't accompany me.
Stop trying to be controversial for the sake of it.
(Just saw the sherry suggestions... lol! Personally I drink Guinness at the rugby. I'm allowed pints whilst I'm being forced to watch!! Grin)
