The attack on Charlie Hebdo.
Shall we have 3 guesses who's responsible?

Breakingdad please do not talk about things you don't really know about. You can have an opinion about what you think about what moderate Muslims should do but please do not act like you have the knowledge about Islam to be able to define what a 'real' Muslim is.
Fwiw the current incarnation of extremists Isis make an awful lot of shit up never mind twist certain passages of the Quran. They're pure evil and their hearts are full of hatred.

adsy · 07/01/2015 16:42

lem have we the winner of the first person to say these terrorists aren't "real" muslims?

OP posts:
lem73 · 07/01/2015 16:47

I never actually said that. What is a real Muslim? I do understand your cynicism about that same remark getting repeated every time there is a tragedy.

ElfontheShelfIsWATCHINGYOUTOO · 07/01/2015 16:48

Moderate muslims need to come forward and say that the passages in the Quran are wrong

But how can they do that when by doing that ^ they open themselves up to being abused, by other Muslims for offending the faith?
It trips itself up.

Patrickstarxx · 07/01/2015 16:55

When does it stop? How bad will things get before our government and other European countries get tough with these fanatics.

Those who weren't born here but are known to be fanatics are allowed to live among us.

Anjem Choudary continues to call for all us infidels to be slaughtered and demands that sharia law is brought into affect. Why isn't this prize prick thrown in jail?

No go areas for infidels in Britain! Wtf! These fanatics are gobshites and they ARE making things pretty difficult for the normal everyday Muslim.

It's a shame Sad

BackOnlyBriefly · 07/01/2015 17:06

If Muslims even in the UK are afraid to speak up in case other Muslims attack them then it is even worse than we thought.

But we can test it. We could ask every Muslim who thinks the Koran is wrong about killing people to email in and say so.

How many emails might we expect to get? 1000s, 500? or perhaps 2?

lem73 · 07/01/2015 17:12

Eloquently said PatrickGrin.

Patrickstarxx · 07/01/2015 17:13

Thanks lem Grin

lem73 · 07/01/2015 17:14

I don't think Muslims in the UK are afraid to speak up about terrorism. I hear lots of Muslims express disgust. I know for a fact that moderate Muslims are afraid to speak up on issues like the burka or similar things

BackOnlyBriefly · 07/01/2015 17:24

What are they afraid OF Lem? I mean if they speak up about the burka etc what do they think might happen?

lem73 · 07/01/2015 17:25

Totally agree that we need governments to get tough on fanatics. Throw them in jail or deport them for spreading hate. Stop bloody expecting normal hard working Muslim citizens to 'stand up' to them. It's the government's job.

Patrickstarxx · 07/01/2015 17:36

Normal Muslims shouldn't need to speak out about them.

I wouldn't speak out if Nigel next door started popping off people in the name of Christianity.

Tsoukalosy · 07/01/2015 17:43

Tbh how dare you try and make victims out of people who ate only perceived victims in your eyes. You op is downright disgusting and disrespectful! Lets think about the true victims in paris today. repos en pièce Charlie et al.

Skatingfastonthinice · 07/01/2015 17:45

'Throw them in jail or deport them for spreading hate.'

Jail yes, but can you deport someone from a country they are a legal citizen of?

adsy · 07/01/2015 17:48

Tsoukalosy
try rtft. I've said I in no way think muslims are in a difficult position in Britain. I believe Islam to be a great danger to us all.
I was continuing the previous thread which reached 1000.
The thread's title was given by the OP of that thread and I, alongside many others were very vocal in our condemnation of her viewpoint.

BreakingDad77 · 07/01/2015 17:51

Lem I used to think the same as you, I agree that Hadiths and Sunnah are twisted but the Quran is the word of God, I.e the same as the ten commandments in the old testament.

You can be a moderate Christian because you can argue that in the new testament it is all peoples observation and second hand.

Do you get where I am coming from?

Behooven · 07/01/2015 17:52

Charb was Muslim I understand.

A Muslim with a sense of satirical humour that is. Shame there are not more of them.
No religion/ celebrity/ politician/ royal was off his radar.

Terrible incident, I am so sorry for their families.

Tsoukalosy · 07/01/2015 17:53

Ok adsy i apologize i read the last thread and caught on from there. Today is a tragic day.

IamTitanium · 07/01/2015 17:58

It's the government's job
To me its everyones job, no I could not put someone in jail or deport them which are examples used, but this is not just about fanatics its also about vulnerable people being radicalised.
For evil to flourish, it only requires good men to do nothing.

AgentCooper · 07/01/2015 18:06

This is heartbreaking. Colleagues of mine knew some of the guys at Charlie Hebdo. A friend was writing her thesis on it and now several of the writers she was writing about are dead. A horrendousl violation of human rights has happened and I feel so much for their loved ones.

For the record, Muslim friends of mine have been condemning this vehemently on FB. This will give the bloody NF so much ammunition now. Those bloody idiot extremists- they've achieved nothing but the deaths of innocents and likely misery for their fellow Muslims who don't want any of this.

Nous sommes tous Charlie.

Carrierpenguin · 07/01/2015 18:07

These cold blooded murders are appalling. Where will all this tolerance of fundamalist Islam end? It's time radicals were told to respect European values or fuck off to a fundamalist country. How long did it take the British government to deport Abu Hamza again? What a disgrace.

Tsoukalosy · 07/01/2015 18:07

In that light i agree Adsy. Where will they strike next :(

AlorsMeh · 07/01/2015 18:17

I remember the 70s and 80s it wasn't unbearable to be an Irish resident in the UK then in spite of the ignorant few who felt that we were all IRA terrorists and weren't scared to abuse us publicly, even more so when a terrorist attack had been perpetrated in the UK.

On days like today I do feel a strong sense of empathy for those Muslims who, like us Irish, just want to live their lives peacefully and be good citizens. They don't want this sort of thing to happen, they are not responsible for it and there is no way they should come forward and apologise for it as seems to have been suggested up-thread.

MistressMia · 07/01/2015 18:28

Breakingdad please do not talk about things you don't really know about

Fine lem : respond to my posts then.

Do you agree that a man who approved the murder of poets who criticised him should be a good example to follow and be regarded as being the most perfect human?

The same man that 50+ yr old muslim men emulate when they take child brides.

to think britain is a difficult place to be if you're muslim ( part 2 )
FlowerFairy2014 · 07/01/2015 18:40

We need no comments on this thread along the lines of please do not talk about things you do not understand. That thread point is the opposite of that - it is that liberal UK allows people to write of anything they like without being censored. I want people to write whatever they choose even if it is to allege there is a God, when there is not.

There is no God so the idea that XYZ might be the word of God and ABC is not is simply all very pointless to argue over.

I hope tomorrow all UK newspapers and mumsnet display all cartoons in a show of solidarity for Western liberalism and with the support of all moderate UK Muslims.
