Or, to be really pessimistic Clam, if they're going to do anything then make sure that the victim is a) too drunk to remember, and b) you keep your gob shut about it afterwards Sad

ilovesooty · 07/01/2015 00:26

Unfortunately I doubt whether most of the Oldham Athletic squad will have other clubs queuing up to sign them so if Evans is signed they might have to put up with it.

meditrina · 07/01/2015 00:31

"Unfortunately I doubt whether most of the Oldham Athletic squad will have other clubs queuing up to sign them so if Evans is signed they might have to put up with it."

Probably true. But that might not stop them asking to be put on the transfer list in the hope something will turn up. And make it clear that it was their contractual obligation, not their choice, if they have to play with him.

This transfer window closes 2 Feb.

SabrinaMulhollandJjones · 07/01/2015 00:31

It is clear (to me anyway) that this was not the first time CE had done this. Hotel booked in advance, "got a bird" text - no other conversation, CE just turns his taxi around, tricks the porter into giving him the key, lets himself into the hotel room (who does that?!) and joins in, while his brother/mates are outside filming. Grim.

They both then just abandon her in the room (CM telling the porter she's sick on the way out), CE sneaking through the fire escape) - knowing she has no handbag or anything. She's just nothing to them.

All them - CM, CE, Ce's brother, their mates - all utter scum to treat a person like that. Why would anyone want their daughter to marry someone like that?

ilovesooty · 07/01/2015 00:41

Someone who has no respect for women if he's actively supporting such a scumbag and facilitating his daughter's life with him.

SquirrelSwarm · 07/01/2015 01:00

FFS. Have you looked at the solicitor's website? They are touting for business on MMR causing autism. Charlatans.

Jux · 07/01/2015 02:19

Massey is caught up in the psychology of sunk cost. He's ploughed a heck of a lot of money into his dd and her rapist bf already - had done so before the
rapist Ched Evans had been convicted - and he is now in the process of throwing good money after bad in order to justify his crap decisions on the matter so far; he is attempting the impossible, to prove to himself that his spending decisions were right all along. Of course, the more money he throws at the problem, the more money he is forced to throw at it in order to justify the spending of such large (and ever-increasing) amounts.

Wouldn't it be kinder to Massey, assuming he is found to have been in contempt over the website, if he were to be fined so stringently and aggressively that he was reduced to poverty? It would get him off the awful hamster-wheel he's got himself onto.

And wouldn't it be great if the real victim in all this were to receive all that money in compensation?

That's two rights making the world a better place for everyone involved, not forgetting the enhancement of football by the absence of the rapist Ched Evans and his ridiculous fil from it. Win-win!

Ohfourfoxache · 07/01/2015 02:25

Fucking hell

Just seen on the CM Solicitors website that they offer Sports Reputation Management Services.

Hardly a good advert, eh?

SabrinaMulhollandJjones · 07/01/2015 02:34

YY Jux - nice dream. I mean, Massey could just give Evans some job of privilege and loadsa dosh in his own firm, like VP of something or other - but no, that's not enough! Evans has to be a footballer - with all the extra privilege and fame that brings.

Surely his daughter can't have picked a wrong'un? NO! Best buy his way into a failing football club and effectively pay Evans's wage and club sponsorship - Tasha wants to be a WAG after all.

Jux · 07/01/2015 03:34

...Evans has to be a footballer - with all the extra privilege and fame that brings. Not to mention all the extra women.

If this were a book it wouldn't even get published. But I bet if it were a storyline in a soap the whole country would be denouncing him. There'd be no "Free the Ambridge One" but lots of "castrate the lot of 'em".

I see my society becoming more and more decadent, and increasingly I despair.

merrymouse · 07/01/2015 06:39

I suspect that in the small pond that Oldham usually operates businessmen like Massey are big fish and that is why Oldham are considering the deal.

It is mind blowing that, even assuming he believes a rape didn't take place, he can look at the events that happened on that night and think CE is a suitable husband for his daughter. That and the website suggest his moral compass is 'off' in more ways than one.

Maybe I am overly influenced by "Ashes to Ashes", but I don't think dodgy old boy's networks are confined to Eton.

meditrina · 07/01/2015 07:12

The Attorney General can order the website to be taken down, and it is possible that prosecutions could be launched (according to the BBC website about the current investigation).

IANAL, but isn't it also possible that if CE was found to be linked to items posted on the website, and they were held to be a contempt of court, then he could be recalled to prison?

I assume that those associated with the website are aware of the AG investigation and that it is close to its conclusion. That might be a reason for the haste to sign before its findings are known.

Personally, I think signing whilst the AG investigation is underway is wrong. It also means those party to a contract stand to lose out completely if he is recalled to prison.

SomebodysRealName · 07/01/2015 07:29

I want to take the blue pill. Is anyone dispensing them?

TheOfficialPan · 07/01/2015 07:41

Recall to prison? Not on the issues so far. He is required to not do anything which compromises the purpose of his supervision licence. Solutions are sought prior to any recall, so insofar as the website is relevant, it can be ordered to be removed - IF Evans has the authority to have it taken down but refuses to or doesn't do it, then there would be grounds.

teawamutu · 07/01/2015 08:10

I've just seen this morning's story in the Independent www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/transfers/ched-evans-to-oldham-athletic-family-will-pay-up-to-pave-the-way-for-deal-with-league-one-club-9961432.html - the first comment has given me the utter rage (goes on about the femnazis crucifying the poor victim Ched because some whore slut went to his room willingly).

I'd bet good money it's one of the vile animals connected to Evans or the Masseys, but I CAN'T REPLY Angry - this bloody tablet won't co-operate. Just in case anyone's got a couple of minutes to be a sorely-needed voice of reason...

YonicSleighdriver · 07/01/2015 08:17

Never read the comments, tea...

YonicSleighdriver · 07/01/2015 08:20

Medi, I'd assume the majority of the content on the site was posted whilst CE was in jail; I think it's very unlikely it would lead to repercussions on him.

teawamutu · 07/01/2015 08:21

I can't help it, it's like squeezing a particularly pus-filled spot. Except that's satisfying, and realising how many twats there are who are determined not to spoil their Stuff I Reckon with the facts is just utterly depressing.

Willferrellisactuallykindahot · 07/01/2015 08:21

I actually don't think that this is about Ched Evans as a footballer any more - on the other thread there was a poster talking about how competitive football is, right from the age of 6. There must be plenty of footballers who aren't rapists that Oldham could sign. This is about the football industry wanting to prove that 'a stupid money grabbing slag and a bunch of screeching women' will not beat them.

Karl Massey has said before that 'this isn't about Natasha' and that if they broke up tomorrow he would still defend Ched in the same way. Which must be nice for his daughter to know.

That this man is so bizarrely over invested in this whole thing tell us a hell of a lot about him, how he views women including his daughter, and possibly about his own past behaviour as well.

Surely somewhere very deep down, sometimes, Natasha must think 'Dad, don't you think I'm worth more than this?' Or has it just been completely conditioned out of her?

YonicSleighdriver · 07/01/2015 08:25

I do wonder if Natasha ever wakes up at 2am thinking "what if I ever want to split up...?"

ghostyslovesheep · 07/01/2015 08:27

the comments will be from trolls and his mates

I have two football playing girls - one of whom had a very real chance of playing at club level ... I despair of the thought of her mixing with scum like him

YonicSleighdriver · 07/01/2015 08:27

She must know she'd get massive hate tweets for ceasing to "stand by her man"

londonrach · 07/01/2015 08:28

Still looks like oldham is going to sign him. Dm sport section has two bits on him and if oldham wasnt going to sign him surely they have said by now!

Rebecca2014 · 07/01/2015 08:30

I agree this is now a case of "Shutting those stupid women up."

Evans girlfriend father is throwing a lot of money Oldham way, even paying his wages and offering money if sponsors do pull out. Okay maybe he does believe it was not rape, but what type of father would stand by a man who cheated on his daughter? and most likely it was not the first time he cheated anyway.

Really everyone should be contacting sports direct. But looks like only a mere few months after being released from prison, Evans has got a team. A mans world out there.

CatIshoo · 07/01/2015 08:31

Some peoples comments just make me want to bang my head against a wall.

On fb there have been comments that people don't understand unless they are football supporters and anyway they are just jealous of footballers. Comments like this are very handy I suppose and it shows who I need to block.

On netmums there are posters who support him (what did she expect was going to happen when she went back to a hotel room with two footballers, which not only is factually wrong but doesn't mean she consents to sex anyway)
There is one who believes this is the worse miscarriage of justice she has ever read about.

It just makes me so cross.
