Thank you for your article on the BBC website, which I found interesting.
However, I am intrigued that the list of “similar cases” you cite did not include the very recent example of Ilombe Mboyo (link below). Perhaps you might consider updating the list on the article to include a high profile case of a convicted rapist who was declined a contract by a UK club, purely because of his conviction and having taken the advice of club stakeholders? Note that, unlike Evans, Mboyo was repentant and contrite about the offence of which he had been convicted.
The other cases cited by you (Rix, Hughes, King, McCormick) in your article all resulted in the offender going back to football. Supporters of Ched Evans’ return to professional football often claim that his treatment is “unprecedented”. It would be unfortunate if you added weight to this incorrect view.
