To think a lot of people are fooled by this brand

They've Just stuck two names together and do some minimal looking packaging to fool people.
The quality isn't good and still people think it's posh. It's not!
It's in most supermarkets.
Who can guess which brand I'm talking about?

I don't like it because it trashes the skin on my hands, as do most liquid soaps, cheap or expensive. However most people use liquid nowadays so it's an every day purchase, the packging looks a whole lot nicer than Carex etc, seems like it's a good product to me. I went and sniffed a load of MB ones a while back and found them all far too strongly fragranced.

GiantGaspingSatanicCyst · 03/01/2015 13:10

We just have bars of soap in the bathrooms. Is this terribly non-U?

Carex makes my skin peel.

I suspect that bars of soap are most definitely U. Pear's preferably.

Chippednailvarnish · 03/01/2015 13:13

DM found B&H hand wash on offer reduced to £1.30 for a big bottle. So she bought me six. Where the hell am I meant to store six large bottles of socially unacceptable soap. Oh the shame.

If it had been Molton Brown on the other hand, I'd be using them as objects d' art.

I don't think B & H stuff is all that bad. However, Astonish products are very cheap and surprisingly good, especially the handwash and mould remover.

They used to be made in my home city too. Now they've gone next door.

To digress ever so slightly, don't ever
use Easy washing up liquid. No good. Takes half a bottle to get a decent lather going.

EddieStobbart · 03/01/2015 13:15

Does anyone think actually is posh?

MewlingQuim · 03/01/2015 13:22

Bloody hell, people spend 30 quid on handwash Shock

AnnieLobeseder · 03/01/2015 13:23

I doubt that people who are actually posh give even a tiny shit what kind of soap is in their bathrooms.

OnIlkleyMoorBahTwat · 03/01/2015 13:36

I only think Molton Brown is £30 if you buy the matching hand cream too, but I've just looked up Jo Malone and see that hers is closer to £30 just for hand wash.

I suppose it is similar to the ridiculously priced candles from Jo Malone or Dipty...... that are so popular on here. Nice, but expensive for what they are, but could go a long way to explain the 'we earn £100k pa and are struggling' threads.

If people get into the mindset that household basics like candles and hand wash cost £30 a time, I can see why they might think £100k pa is not a very high household income.

I use L'Occitane on the children and like normal coal tar bar soap myself but have been known to use African black soap

ithoughtofitfirst · 03/01/2015 13:46

Baylis and Harding. absolute con.

Stealthpolarbear · 03/01/2015 13:48

People are very obsessed about where sells stuff.

RJnomore · 03/01/2015 13:50

People don't match their hand wash to their bathroom?

Libitina · 03/01/2015 13:51

I completely agree with Think.

alpacasosoftsnowgentlyfalling · 03/01/2015 13:54

A con at £1( on offer) for a big bottle ?Confused

Did someone tell you it will cure all ills or something ?

SqueezyCheeseWeasel · 03/01/2015 13:54

I buy whatever is on offer as I tend to buy 4 or 5 at a time

I prefer the Dove cucumber one or the Sanex moisturising ones. The kids always want the Carex choc orange one, I tend to concede on at least one bottles of that as anything that encourages them to wash hands after the loo is a winner!

SqueezyCheeseWeasel · 03/01/2015 13:57

One bottle not bottles Hmm

Trills · 03/01/2015 14:03

I am moving house soon and one of my "rules" is that I am not going to hve "best" hand soap.

I'm going to get something nice and then USE IT.

MrsMarigold · 03/01/2015 14:05

I buy Carex on special offer we go through litres of the stuff and have six bottles on the go. Never thought about it, but I don't like the smell of Occitane Verbena but I'd rather have clean hands than not use it.

NorbertDentressangle · 03/01/2015 14:07

I bought a B&H liquid soap for the bathroom years ago as I liked the sound of the fragrance, Grapefruit and Mandarin iirc, or something that sounded fresh and citrus. Anyway it was shite and had no 'zing' at all.

Nasty stuff that I'd avoid. i'd rather have Carex or whatever.

Recently had a gorgeous Tisserand one though - smell lingered for ages.

ToomuchIsBackOnBootcamp · 03/01/2015 14:19

B&H has something in it that makes my skin itch like crazy, can't stand it. I'm fine with Radox or Carex though so it's not like I'm a soap snob! Currently have M&S hand soap, only £1 a bottle, doesn't bother my skin and smells nice.

NotYouNaanBread · 03/01/2015 14:28

I like Bayliss & Harding. Inoffensive packaging & cheap as chips. Good for them creating a product with nice branding that actually costs next to nothing. Lol at people thinking it's posh though!

mrspremise · 03/01/2015 14:44

l like Pear's soap/handwash/shower gel, the snell is amazing and it doesn't make my scabby eczema flare up Smile

Putthatonyourneedles · 03/01/2015 14:48

I love b&h lavender smellies and their black ginger ones as well. It's cheap, cheerful and does the job. Last year I got the stack of boxes in midnight lavender, loved them and the boxes look pretty (whilste hiding random items of crap in my bedroom.

I'm slightly sulking that I didn't get any for Xmas even when I specifically hinted about wanting the weekend travel bag set when it was reduced to half price in bhs.
