They've Just stuck two names together and do some minimal looking packaging to fool people.
The quality isn't good and still people think it's posh. It's not!
It's in most supermarkets.
Who can guess which brand I'm talking about?

Never heard of it. Or the molton stuff. From this thread, I assume it is hand wash. Do people not just buy whatever's cheapest? Is there a difference - does expensive soap wash your hands better than cheap stuff? (Genuinely interested as, as with most things, I buy the cheapest and if that doesn't work, move to the next one cost wise until something does). I know nothing about brands so wouldn't know if I'd been bought pound shop stuff or ££££ stuff.

olivehater · 02/01/2015 23:32

We fill our old bh bottles with Even cheaper shit. Never have to replace the moisturiser though. Actually lathering isn't necessarily a sign of quality but more chemicals.
Personally I prefer old fashioned soap. I use that In the shower as have eczema. but soap dishes are a bugger to keep scum free so have relented and gone back to hand washes at sinks.

LadySybilLikesSloeGin · 02/01/2015 23:33

Hands free soap dispensers are worse, I think. Absolutely pointless!!

TattyDevine · 02/01/2015 23:34

My friend likes the Cowshed stuff for her downstairs cloakroom. She was in a local department store with her DH and she handed it to the cashier who said "that'll be £28 please" (I think she was getting the soap and cream) and her DH said "HOW MUCH!!!!!!" and she shooed him away blushing. He'd been washing the kids hands in it and all sorts and he was incensed!

CaptainAnkles · 02/01/2015 23:34

I buy Radox liquid soap. It costs about £1.50. It smells nice and cleans your hands. That's all I require it to do tbh. Spending £30 on soap isn't going to make your hands any cleaner but is going to stop you spending it on something fun.

HerrenaHarridan · 02/01/2015 23:35

While we are all talking soap can any one recommend a really gentle moisturising soap.

The one I used to use has been discontinued and I have yet to find anything that doesn't leave my hands dry. I have to wash then a ridiculous amount

HerrenaHarridan · 02/01/2015 23:36

Is prefer a bar over liquid (alone in the world apparently)

Siarie · 02/01/2015 23:36

squoosh yup but it lasts a while and leaves the same kind of lasting scent as a perfume if you follow it up with the hand lotion even more so. Much to my displeasure in my first trimester during pregnancy(any scents would set me off) Blush

AuntieStella · 02/01/2015 23:37

I had been hoping this would be all about Shake n Vac [disappointed]

One of the B&H liquid soaps has exactly the same smell as the one in the dispensers when I was at infants school, so I do like that one for nostalgia reasons.

bonkersLFDT20 · 02/01/2015 23:39

My DH used to make Molton Brown products. The freebies were excellent!! Grin

Welshmaenad · 02/01/2015 23:41

Herrena, try African Black soap. You can get bar or liquid versions. I get mine from Akamuti. It's basically just saponified Shea butter.

AmarettoSour · 02/01/2015 23:43

We use Carex cola bottles Confused

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 02/01/2015 23:44

Thank you LadySybil - that sounds like a plan! Wink

MrsDiesel · 02/01/2015 23:45

I buy Carex strawberry laces too, and the bubblegum one. I would faint at paying £30 for hand wash!

LadySybilLikesSloeGin · 02/01/2015 23:47

You can get moulds for them too Smile Try Lakeland.

HerrenaHarridan · 02/01/2015 23:47

Wow! Talk about counter intuitive, this will make my hands clean you say?

WooWooOwl · 02/01/2015 23:54

I like Bayliss and Harding just because the job they did with their marketing was impressive. The actual product is just soap that is reflective of it's price.

Fuckmath · 03/01/2015 00:03

Baylis & Harding hand wash is ok and inoffensive. I would be a bit Confused at receiving it for a present but would gratefully accept. I have had a couple of them in the past and they smelled nice/fine and I didn't really give it much more thought. I have occasionally bought Molton Brown but don't think they are really worth the money. Would rather spend on other things and actually prefer to wash hands with plain old Simple, Dove, Nivea etc.

mrsallergy · 03/01/2015 00:06

Four year old dd loves the Aldi mb knock off because it "smells like haribo".
Hmm

scousadelic · 03/01/2015 00:28

The Queen Bee of the school mum's in DDs year always has Molton Brown in the downstairs loo but it is rumoured she buys Bayliss and Harding at the local cheapie shop and refills the bottles Grin

LadySybilLikesSloeGin · 03/01/2015 00:36

I don't think you can refill them, they superglue the tops on or something because I can't get mine off! Blush

ChickenMe · 03/01/2015 00:48

Lol I knew it would be B and H. I was conned. I got a gift set for Xmas. I thought I could hawk it on Ebay. I got mixed up with MB. Don't know what to do with it now...

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 03/01/2015 01:01

Carex smells lovely!

Welshmaenad · 03/01/2015 01:30

Trust me, it's ace.

RudeBarbandCustard · 03/01/2015 01:41

I love my Bayliss & Harding hand soap. I bought it because it was pink and looked nice in the bathroom. Smells of roses. Love it.

Couldn't give two shits whether it's posh or not posh. It's fucking hand wash gel.
