To think a lot of people are fooled by this brand

They've Just stuck two names together and do some minimal looking packaging to fool people.
The quality isn't good and still people think it's posh. It's not!
It's in most supermarkets.
Who can guess which brand I'm talking about?

SaucyJack · 02/01/2015 22:58

That's fair enough niceperson

I doubt anyone's laughing at someone buying it for their own bathroom.

Just don't be gift wrapping that shit and pretending it's a special treat. May as well buy someone a bottle of Tresemme.

Discopanda · 02/01/2015 23:00

I actually quite like B&H Blush

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 02/01/2015 23:00

I love Carex. And Sanex.

RevoltingPeasant · 02/01/2015 23:01

Btw in answer to the OP I was going to say Charlie Brigham!

Ilovehamabeads · 02/01/2015 23:02

Well I like both B&H and Molton Brown. B&H handwash goes in the downstairs loo and by the kitchen sink, and my MB stash stays in my bathroom.

CyclopsBee · 02/01/2015 23:09

Lidl 59p handwash is the dogs bolleux. Nice colour, nice smell, good lather and its a large bottle
B and H is like frog spawn

Flingmoo · 02/01/2015 23:09

Never thought people could be so snobby about soap... Are we all 1950s housewives?!

I like my B&H handwash... Inexpensive but prettier bottle and nicer smells than boring unbranded stuff. Are guests coming to my house and secretly thinking 'Bayliss and Harding handwash?! How vile! I wonder if she realises this is a cheap knockoff of Molton Brown! And I thought Mamushka was a classy lass...'

fedupbutfine · 02/01/2015 23:12

People who buy and like Bayliss & Harding wouldnt dream of buying Molton Brown, possibly have never heard of it

there was a time in my life when I could afford Molton Brown and I bought Molton Brown. That time isn't now - and I quite happily buy much cheaper stuff - including Bayliss and Harding - because that's what I can now afford. Hell, for a while I did the Moneysavingexpert value bubble bath watered down in a soap dispenser which also worked perfectly well.

If I'm somehow ignorant (isn't that what you're saying?) because I 'wouldn't dream of buying Molton Brown', then what does that make you?

LadySybilLikesSloeGin · 02/01/2015 23:14

I have Molton Brown in the bathroom. It smells nice, that's all. I'm half tempted to decant it into a plain bottle now but I can't get the top off

thatsn0tmyname · 02/01/2015 23:14

B and H is a complete rip off. Mum got me a double box worth tied with a bow for Xmas- the top box was just a wash puff and the bottom box had a slab of polystyrene wrapped in tissue paper, two bottles of soap, a small scrub and a small hand cream. Rubbish!

ginslinger · 02/01/2015 23:17

I started buying bayliss and harding about 8 ye ars ago - I'm sure there's an old thread where B&h comes up as a good cheapie. It's fine for everyday use,, probably not for gifts

ChippingInLovesChristmasLights · 02/01/2015 23:20

B&H. 'Posh' Xmas Grin

thatniceperson · 02/01/2015 23:20

Yes, receiving it in a gift set is a bit Hmm
I hope I don't get bought some, I'd feel so awful for the person giving it to me. Mumsnet has ruined Thorntons as a gift for me too, although the revolting taste of the chocolate kind of did already ruin it.
My dp's elderly grandmother gave us a big box for Christmas, she still thinks they're nice chocolates and it made me a bit sad Sad

divingoffthebalcony · 02/01/2015 23:21

I'm with SaucyJack. I'm not a soap snob and wouldn't judge someone got buying Carex (I buy Carex!) but if you give me B&H for Christmas I'm going to be a bit disappointed. And I have been given B&H for Christmas Sad

threepiecesuite · 02/01/2015 23:21

I received a bottle of B&H which was wearing a gold sequinned zip up jacket.
Molton Brown wouldn't be so frivolous.

LadySybilLikesSloeGin · 02/01/2015 23:21

Superdrug often have BOGOF on handsoaps/deoderants etc. I pick up a couple here and there when they are on offer. I use the savings to pay for Molton Brown.

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 02/01/2015 23:23

It doesnt matter to me that B&H is a knock off MB, but it does matter to me if I buy something that turns out to be crap inside the bottle. Aldis knock off handwash, is it a knock off of a knock off? Its amazing! The stuff inside the bottle is great. Smells great, washes great. That is what matters.

B&H is crap because theyve spent all their time on the packaging and none on the ingredients. Its not snobby to want a handwash or shower gel that actually makes you feel clean Grin regardless of whether is costs 68p or £18.

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 02/01/2015 23:24

Don't know about B&H but have seen it in shops. I'm currently going through the complimentary toiletries DH nicked from when he was away at a hotel for ages for work. Teeny tiny, practically ineffectual micro soap but I swear they're like rabbits and are multiplying in the cupboard - every time I check there seems to be even more! Confused

I'm not fussy about naice soap anymore, especially since the DC turned up, they seem to 'know' which is the better stuff and it never lasts five minutes - lots of suspiciously long toilet visits, god knows what they do with it down the loo washed the cat/bath toys/hair with it

IgnoreMeEveryOtherReindeerDoes · 02/01/2015 23:24

Ffs its hand soap who gives a crap if its molton or hardling cos who wants to smell like hand soap, next your be telling me you put lavender talc on your bits.

Carex strawberry laces in this house or whatever is on offer. I invest far too much in my perfumes for nice smell

Siarie · 02/01/2015 23:24

Never heard of it, we're fans of Jo Malone hand wash here. It actually lasts a long time and the scent stays on your skin forever.

LadySybilLikesSloeGin · 02/01/2015 23:26

You can melt the soaps into one to make them easier to use Wink

TattyDevine · 02/01/2015 23:29

My inlaws have fallen for this. They are total cheapskates.

Carex is fine, because you aren't "trying".

I preferred my inlaws when they didn't "try". Why do people feel they have to "try"!

TattyDevine · 02/01/2015 23:29

Give me a wrinky, jellied old bit of Imperial leather with a big bulgey bit round the sticker any time Wink

squoosh · 02/01/2015 23:31

Jo Malone handwash is nearly £30 a bottle. I'd be delighted to receive some as a gift but would never splash my own cash on it. It's just soap.

mswibble · 02/01/2015 23:31

You've actually agreed with what I was trying to say. I wasnt implying anyone buying B&H was ignorant fedup. Im saying that the majority of people who buy B&H wont know or care that its supposedly designed to look like Molton Brown. They dont buy it because it 'looks posh'. The people I know anyway. I bought the OH a black pepper B&H set for crimble as we both like the scent and i wasnt about to pay triple the price for a bloke who doesnt care what name his shower gel is.

I used to spend silly money on Philosophy shower gel but I cant justify it anymore. So I dont. I buy a litre bottle of Dr Bronners castille soap for a tenner because it lasts me nearly 6 months!
