Last years bear and hare left me cold, but this years penguin one had me sobbing. I may be hormonal.

I'm 3 months pg and quite entitled to blub my stupid face puce at this. DH casually wandered in and thought something serious had happened.

Pregnancy is no excuse I'm afraid, unless you're going to lay an egg and hatch a penguin.

I was fine until it changed to a toy penguin, why did that get me?

I didn't really get it until near the end as I kept being distracted by concerns that the penguin probably isn't house trained.
All those carpets combined with the smell of the penguins at the zoo...

No, not crying here, not even a smidge. It's cute, but not worth the wait.

On a par to last years.

They are going to have to do something very very special to beat the snowman & snowmrs.

OneStep, any chance of some guttural wailing and gnashing to go with that? Grin

I'm a semtimental aul toot.

It got me. But I've been known to weep at Gillette adverts. There's no hope for me.

Still nowhere near 2011 for me but I may have had something in my eye at the end.

Better than The Smiths ad though, that kid did my absolute nut in.

I think it's a 'boy with stuffed toy' thing. My DS is inseparable with his toy killer whale so I may be particularly raw.

I didn't like last years at all and was smiling through this one thinking that it was nice but nothing special. I did well up when I saw the toy penguins so maybe I'm not such a hard-hearted bitch after all! Grin

Tears here today. I'm not normally so bloody sentimental but the John a Lewis ads get me every time. I love Christmas.

I enjoyed it because no plinky-plonky "quirky" indie singer music this year.

I was anxious through most of it hoping that the penguin is a CGI penguin, otherwise it might be quite stressed. Penguins don't really like close human contact. Then I got to the "child acts as penguin pimp" bit and was a bit baffled. I'm pretty sure a kid that age wouldn't recognise sexual/romantic desire in a penguin, they'd just be sad the penguin seemed to want other people and not him.

I may be over-analysing this.

Those penguins are so cute. I absolutely NEED at penguin.

Little boy and I have watched it 3 times now, read the Oliver Jeffers penguin and boy stories and watched it again! I now have my very own boy and happyland penguin Xmas Grin

The penguin wanted a penguin friend so the lovely boy got him what he really wanted for christmas. Like when I had to buy dd another unicorn so when she was at nursery rainbow didn't get lonely. It's adorable

And when anyone mentions the snowman ad, all I can picture is that Doctor Who episode with the snowmen with terrifying teeth.
