Aibu?

Had guests to stay last night. It gets mentions casually the next day that he sleeps naked, I laugh and say something along the lines of "only in your own bed I bloody hope!"
..at which point he gets a bit embarrassed and she says "he can't stand wearing pj's!"

We swiftly move on and I mourn the innocence of my pretty sanderson sheets.

Aibu to think you should at least wear undies when sleeping in someone else's home?

Or am I being a prude?

OP, yaNbu. I think it is very odd to feel comfortable sleeping naked in a friend's bed. Clearly we are (almost) lone voices on this one OP. Grin

MarianneSolong · 26/10/2014 16:51

I assumed your objection was based on the fact your guest wandered to the middle of the night and you - or they - were embarrassed by being seen naked.

I'd say that if you were terrified that some kind of pollution would occur because people haven't covered their genitals and/or breasts with at least one layer of fabric when sleeping on your bedding, it's best not to have people to stay.

Bowlersarm · 26/10/2014 16:51

OP Grin your last post made me laugh. I don't think you're a bad hostess at all.

CMP69 · 26/10/2014 16:54

Neither of us wear anything in bed ever (why a few nights a month? ) at home, family, friends or hotel. And yes we do shag in a guest bed if we are in the mood Grin

chasingtheegg · 26/10/2014 16:56

Londonrach- you can't possibly see me, this bottle if gin I'm hiding behind is too big.

Catsize, you can come stay anytime! Grin

Doesn't anybody else have a dressing gown? Mine is on the end of the bed or hanging on the bedroom door. That's what I reach for if I have to get up in the night or first thing in the morning while I wander round in my dazed, just-waking-up frame of mind.

SirChenjin · 26/10/2014 16:56

A few nights a month - period leakage. Was discussed upthread.

londonrach · 26/10/2014 16:57

Op can i stay i promise to wear pjs with pants underneath. Grin

chasingtheegg · 26/10/2014 16:57

Allmimsy- dressing gown are for extra warmth, preferably matching your coordinated pajamas.

fans the flame Wink

chasingtheegg · 26/10/2014 16:59

Oh okay, but since I've clearly peaked on my unreasonable status enough to warrant a 5 page thread on the matter, I must insist you don't shag in there either Wink

The gin doesnt hid you. I can see you in your hello kitten pjs with matching dressing gown and slippers and night head cap....

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 26/10/2014 17:01

Extra warmth - tick. Co-ordinated? Hmmmmmmm..............

londonrach · 26/10/2014 17:02

Op can i refer you back to original comment re the snuggling comment in your spare bed...

LosingAllTheLego · 26/10/2014 17:03

I'm honestly really confused as to why I wouldn't feel dry using a tampon??

I've also never heard that you shouldn't use them at night. Can't think of any logical reason why night is any different to day! FWIW I tend to go to bed at around 1am and get up around 6am. I change my tampon immediately before going to bed and first thing when I get up so it's generally about 5hrs, which is well within the 8hr window. The tampons are never 'full' during my period. Had no idea I was so weird!

And not wanting to lower the tone, but my arse is very clean thanks! side effect of being into anal sex is keeping very clean

LosingAllTheLego · 26/10/2014 17:05

Also, I'm comfy being naked anywhere. Have sex wherever the fancy takes me too and I do own a dressing gown, but only tend to use it if I need to throw something on to answer the door or nip downstairs for a drink (no blinds on kitchen window)

SirChenjin · 26/10/2014 17:05

Fucking hell Lego - TMI

2rebecca · 26/10/2014 17:08

It never occurred to me that people would find this a problem. I wear night attire if sharing a room with anyone other than my husband but often don't otherwise and don't care what my guests do or don't wear. Nose bleeds and young relatives wetting the bed are a pain but a bit of mucus or semen will come out when the sheets are washed.
If I'm menstruating I wear pants, usually with pad as well as tampon.
My husband doesn't possess a pair of pyjamas.

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 26/10/2014 17:10

Are all of you with light flow on the pill or just lucky? I am perimenopausal and have every digit crossed that it will soon all be over but for most of the last 40 years I would certainly have been very bothered about leakage for 4/5 days every few weeks (no regularity, heavy flow, period pain, ovarian cysts - thanks, endometriosis!). Super plus tampon plus heavy duty night towel not enough to see me through the night when it was at its worst - on one particularly memorable day, not enough to see me through the 20 minute walk from home to nursery school.

2rebecca · 26/10/2014 17:18

I never needed to wear pants during my period at night when younger, the leaking thing only started perimenopausally. Have always worn tampons at night. Some people take instructions more literally than others. It's the people who foret about them and leave them in for days who tend to get problems.

Jolleigh · 26/10/2014 17:18

I'm just lucky allmimsy rather than being on the pill. Though I do have my dressing gown hung on the door...no Zimmer frame here! Is a dressing gown associated with the older ladies then? I'm only 26!

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 26/10/2014 17:20

I don't think so, Jolleigh, but I often realise from MN that things I use are almost unknown to young people! I'm 53 and didn't grow up wandering round the house in pjs. Dressing gown was de rigeur on emerging from my bedroom unless fully dressed in daywear.

mypoosmellsofroses · 26/10/2014 17:24

I love these type of threads:) Both DH and I are naked sleepers, at home or elsewhere. Leakage no longer an issue but when it was I wore my mooncup and a pair of pants with a hemp pad JIC. Nowt else. Bathrobes are always just there if we need the loo or the house catches fire... I own a nightie as I bought it for a hospital stay. The only other time I wore it was staying at a friend of my Mums, with my Mum, in a double bed, although I barely slept a wink anyway as I was terrified of not realising where I was and snuggling up to her and molesting her thinking she was DH, kind of put paid to sleeping peacefully.

Hatespiders · 26/10/2014 17:25

"...in case a spider crawls up my vagina..."

AAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaggggghhh! Never thought of that! Quick! Buy me some jim-jams!

Jolleigh · 26/10/2014 17:26

I have loads of PJs but they're for lazy days rather than to sleep in. And to wear when I'm back home for the day and the bra comes off!

ohmychrist · 26/10/2014 17:26

I NEVER wear anything in bed. Much better for the body.

Mooncup for period's sufficient!
