Aibu?

Had guests to stay last night. It gets mentions casually the next day that he sleeps naked, I laugh and say something along the lines of "only in your own bed I bloody hope!"
..at which point he gets a bit embarrassed and she says "he can't stand wearing pj's!"

We swiftly move on and I mourn the innocence of my pretty sanderson sheets.

Aibu to think you should at least wear undies when sleeping in someone else's home?

Or am I being a prude?

There was someone on another thread who sleeps in her day clothes. Her theory was that she was going to change them anyway and why get another set of clothes dirty.

Garb, I honestly don't understand why people find sleeping in the nude so shocking.
Can someone explain to me why they have a problem with it?

chasingtheegg · 28/10/2014 09:03

-just to confirm, I don't find sleeping nude shocking- though it's not something I can do.. I guess I was just a little surprised he felt comfortable enough to do it when sleeping away from home.

Update for the nudey sleepers: I tried to compromise and go naked from the waist up.. I kept losing one boob over the side of the bed! And dh spent all night practically groping me even in his sleep! reinstates coordinating chastity belt Wink

I can't see me converting any time soon I'm afraid. .. and it was soooo cold when dc woke me up!

Seen topless in bed by host, poss PIL, bringing a cup of tea! You must live south of the Tyne Bridge with that kind of liberal attitude to nakedness.

Well, geographically we are well south of the Tyne, although I spent several years in Co. Durham, so like to regard myself as an honorary Geordie. I even still speak a bit like one - vennels, clarty lonnen and all that! As for the liberal attitude to nakedness, its difficult to accept a cup of tea graciously with a duvet clutched around one's neck, and if its OK to show a bit of bare shoulder in a ball gown, it can't be wrong to do ditto in bed.

Hatespiders · 28/10/2014 10:39

Well we sit up nude in bed drinking our tea and I get biscuit crumbs in my cleavage every morning as my bosoms dangle all over the place!
Poo flakes?? Bum jam??? I've obviously led a very sheltered life, as I've no idea what they are.
This thread is getting funnier! (Would do a laughing face, but it only ends in gobbledy gook)

Worksallhours · 28/10/2014 10:59

Ooooh, I have sympathy with the OP here. Grin

Over the years, we've ended up having a lot of people to stay because PIL and a lot of our friends live 250 miles away and use our house for jollies.

One year, it got to the point where I was desperate to try and find a way to avoid washing an extra king-size duvet cover, fitted sheet, mattress cover and four pillow slips every fortnight. I am crap at laundry and ironing efficiency at the best of times and, as DH has an sensitive eye and skin problem, I always iron the bed sheets and wash at 90.

It just got too much, so I tried to keep sets of sheets over to do for the next time PIL or a friend, say, stayed so they would be sleeping in sheets that they previously slept in once etc, only ...

... crikey, some people don't half make a mess of the sheets. In two particular cases with friends, it was really quite unbelievable: one was a mud problem Confused and another was ahem not Hmm to the point where DH was so offended by the state of the sheets that he now refuses to host that particular friend again.

BasketzatDawn · 28/10/2014 17:49

That, apart from the cold shoulders problem, and DH not being able to keep his hands to himself even when asleep, is why I prefer to wear at least a top in bed. I dread getting hot coffee in my cleavage. Grin

I don't care what others wear or don't wear to sleep but I prefer pyjamas and do sleep better when wrapped up. In winter anyway. Thanks for the update, OP. You were brave trying it at this time of year. IMO. Smile

Pipbin · 28/10/2014 20:42

Is it proper cold some places now? I'm still in the nip with a summer weight duvet and the windows open here.

m0therofdragons · 28/10/2014 20:45

Of you stay a friend's house are you not allowed to have sex? (Presuming if you can't be naked then that means no sex). Ooops I think I've broken that rule - I always assumed people washed sheets after I stayed. Confused

BasketzatDawn · 28/10/2014 20:52

Yeah, motherof, I always assumed they washed without inspecting. Grin

Pipbin, tis proper cold here. I am in Perthshire in a big old draughty house (no need to even open windows!!)

Summerisle1 · 28/10/2014 20:58

summer I too don't believe in poo flakes. I've got no idea what bum jam is either.

Hooray! I can say, with some certainty, that we have never of them in this house.

chasingtheegg · 28/10/2014 21:00

WTF! Bum jam Shock Confused

Pipbin · 28/10/2014 21:09

It's super warm here still Basket. We were out in t-shirts today on the east coast.

alAswad · 29/10/2014 02:52

I'm weeping at 'full scale Wagnerian opera' Grin And wtaf is bum jam? don't tell me I don't want to know

DontDrinkAndFacebook · 29/10/2014 03:01

How weird. You do presumably wash any sheets after guests have slept on them, so what difference does it make? Confused His bare arse is going to be sitting on you loo seat while he craps in it too, and you will have to make do with a little wipearound with a J-cloth for that one. And his mouth will be all over your knives and forks….do you give him disposable ones?

YABU. And a bit mad.

Pipbin · 29/10/2014 08:09

And I presume he will have used your towels to dry himself including HIS PENIS. I can only assume you will be taking said towels to the bottom of the garden and burning them.

chasingtheegg · 29/10/2014 10:42

Oh yes, everything he even so much looked at is now a pile of ash at the bottom of the garden. Hmm
