Anyone?

OP posts:
ghostyslovesheep · 20/10/2014 20:07

because they are HOLIDAYS

TeenAndTween · 20/10/2014 20:07

YABU.

  1. They were taken out of the holidays, not teaching time.
  2. They often require specialist input. The specialists can't be available to all schools simultaneously.
Wolfiefan · 20/10/2014 20:07

They are. Teachers lost 5 days holiday to create these days.
HTH.

MrsMinton · 20/10/2014 20:08

Because they are holiday days.

aJumpedUpPantryBoy · 20/10/2014 20:08

They were.

The teachers lost five days holidays starting in 1988.

Billynomates71 · 20/10/2014 20:09

But surely teaching isn't part time work is it? I thought teachers were full time employed?

OP posts:
ZenNudist · 20/10/2014 20:09

I believe that clashes with THEIR holidays

#teachersarepeopletoo

WooWooOwl · 20/10/2014 20:09

Because then they'd have to pay teachers and support staff more.

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 20/10/2014 20:09

OP would ypu be happy attending a training day on a days Annual Leave?

Cantbelievethisishappening · 20/10/2014 20:09

Oh lovely..... another one. Have you lost a day's free babysitting? Hmm

DoughnutSelfie · 20/10/2014 20:09

Because they are already accounted for out of teachers holidays

ghostyslovesheep · 20/10/2014 20:09

Hmm maybe GIYF?

Billynomates71 · 20/10/2014 20:10

How many days holiday does a teacher get a year then I am asking because I honestly don't know?

OP posts:
aJumpedUpPantryBoy · 20/10/2014 20:10

Full tine employed doesn't mean that teachers work every day - we are contracted to work 195 days each year.
Pupils are entitled to 190 days of school.

ilovepowerhoop · 20/10/2014 20:10

The same old moaning about the same old subject. There are loads of these threads, did we really need a new one?

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 20/10/2014 20:10

Teacher training days are part of their contracts so why should they do them in the holidays?

Would you happily give up a day's holiday for training you had to attend?

DoughnutSelfie · 20/10/2014 20:10

I spect OP is the type to complain if skewl has to shut for snow, hmmm?

Cantbelievethisishappening · 20/10/2014 20:11

Yes Billy. Full time hours. Try 60 hours a week.... and then some.

beatofthedrum · 20/10/2014 20:11

We are. The hours count annually. We do plenty of work. No more to say as it's been said many, many times before.

Billynomates71 · 20/10/2014 20:11

Sorry I don't know what gyif means so straight over my head, suspect that I won't be any the worse for that.

OP posts:
londonrach · 20/10/2014 20:11

Yabu. Rethink what you written! Do you want to go into work on your holiday.

GoofyIsACow · 20/10/2014 20:11

Maybe you should have posted this in the Staffroom Grin

Billynomates71 · 20/10/2014 20:12

Wow, 195 days a year? Golly gosh how tough that must be. And 60 hours a week. You surely must be the only profession that works long hours.

OP posts:
beatofthedrum · 20/10/2014 20:12

You're living up to your name on this thread OP.

Inkanta · 20/10/2014 20:13

Without biting my head off will someone explain why teachers get as much holidays as the children?

I genuinely want to know.
