By Samaritan's Purse

I know I'm not the only one

who else have they decided to silence?

It's quite interesting that they dislike criticism so much

Large organisations have always relied on intimidation, pressure and threats to get what they want, and to squish opposition. But some brave individuals have always been in the way.
What ridiculous overkill, Disney is mocked regularly for its responses to anything they see as an infringement and a danger to their particular trough.
SP are watching MN, and instead of engaging in a debate with transparency and truth on the agenda, they want silence.

Samaritans Purse people ('cause I think you're following this thread too), you know, you really don't sound very Christian. Threatening to sue people for saying things you don't like does not make you look good, in fact, it's probably more harmful than anything that was said about you.

Does that make sense now or have we confused everyone further?

While we're here: please just bear in mind that Samaritan's Purse maintain that the complained-about posts are untrue, or contain things that are untrue. We (as MNHQ) don't take a view on that either way, but that is their position.

Well that's that settled - after just having read the above, and done a bit of Googling, I've decided that this year I shall take my Christmas gift down to the local food bank.

That link is very interesting gerbalsatemycat - particularly the bit by Dr Giles Frazer, vicar of Putney.

@PastorOfMuppets

What if you already hold the details they require?

Would you tell us they had asked for them or wait until they actually got a court order?

We just follow the set process each time - we don't freestyle!

How many posters of this thread do you think will also get threatened with court proceedings?

This is hacked me right off.

I doubt it pastor, this is prob one of those acts that overrides those that are there to protect the individual rather than the big companies/charities/knobs.

"Like many faith-based relief agencies, Samaritan's Purse mixes its humanitarian aid with a liberal dose of proselytizing. Unlike the leaders of other organizations, however, Graham has long been an outspoken critic of Islam, the official religion of some 97 percent of Iraqis. And, since the attacks of September 11, Graham's harsh remarks against Islam-including his November 2001 assertion on "NBC Nightly News" that it is "a very evil and wicked religion"have earned the reverend a reputation as one of this country's leading purveyors of anti-Islamic bigotry"

"In the fall of 2000, for instance, Graham told a Kentucky journalist that "the Arabs will not be happy until every Jew is dead." More recently, in The Name, Graham writes extensively about the inherently violent nature of Islam, calls Christianity and Islam "as different as lightness and darkness," and asserts that the two religions are locked in an eternal struggle that will only end with the triumphant return of Christ. On his book tour last August, Graham warned Fox News that Islam poses "a greater threat than anyone's willing to speak."

@SuffolkNWhat

I'm part of the MN panel so my details are held by MNHQ already hence why my posts have been deleted just in case they are passed on.

Really can't say this clearly enough - we would NOT pass on your details without your consent. As per our privacy policy: 'We do not, as a clear and overarching rule, pass on your information, unless you specifically consent to us doing so or we are specifically required to by law. However, on rare occasions where there appears to be a clear need to safeguard the welfare of a Mumsnetter and/or his/her family, it may be necessary to contact relevant authorities about a clearly identifiable member and his/her posts on Mumsnet.'

"or we are specifically required to by law" So you would pass them on if court ordered regardless of whether a poster said yes or no?

I'm wondering where Samaritans Purse will be getting the money to sue?

Also I've always been taught that a Christian would be to turn the other cheek or forgive.

It would have been much nicer for Samaritans purse to have come on the forum and explained how their scheme works. I'm very interested. DS has made up some shoe boxes recently for a different agency.
