By Samaritan's Purse

I know I'm not the only one

who else have they decided to silence?

It's quite interesting that they dislike criticism so much

Just post the guy's own words on here, and let everyone make up their own minds. He'll be hoist with his own petard.

Unfortunately the UK's new Defamation Act is still an ass. It's also not law in Northern Ireland.

gordyslovesheep · 09/10/2014 17:14

well in my opinion they are behaving like a bunch of utter cockwombles ...

Can you edit the post to add ' IMO'?

RowanMumsnet · 09/10/2014 17:14

@TweetingInFury

"or we are specifically required to by law" So you would pass them on if court ordered regardless of whether a poster said yes or no?

We always take things on a case by case basis, but a court order is a court order!

@PastorOfMuppets

Or by a Court Order, you said, didn;t you, Rowan? So if you already have those details and OCC pursued this would you be compelled by law to hand over those details?

The posts would only be still standing if you'd chosen to supply us with your details, so it's not a situation that's likely to arise.

'It could be said by some that SP are a group of evangelical crusaders who are determined to bring The Faith to the world by any and all means available to them, and to crush opposition with the same zeal.'

You may think so, but I couldn't possibly comment

LiverpoolLou · 09/10/2014 17:20

It's sad but this reminds me of the priest Brennan Manning who's most remembered for saying that the single greatest threat against Christianity today are Christians who profess Jesus with their lips but deny him with their actions.

TweetingInFury · 09/10/2014 17:20

I love how 'Really can't say this clearly enough - we would NOT pass on your details without your consent. As per our privacy policy' becomes but we would if...

this is a good thing to know though.

Basically we are not anonymous, and should really only say things we'd be happy to say with our full name and address

I guess...

@SuffolkNWhat

So if OCC decide to proceed with court action are you saying my details (which are he through the panel) will not be given out?

On a v quick reading, this is actually a point on which the Act is silent. Don't want to give you an answer that turns out to be wrong so we will confer with the higher-ups and come back to you.

DeWee · 09/10/2014 17:22

Well actually there is every Christmas total nastiness directed at the Operation Christmas child shoeboxes simply for wanting to provide Christmas presents at a Christian festival.
It's not a charity I particularly support, but I don't think it deserves the nastiness directed at it, and people actively camplaining to stop others using it as I have seen in previous years.

RowanMumsnet · 09/10/2014 17:23

@SuffolkNWhat

but a court order is a court order!

Right I want all my details removed from your systems NOW and email confirmation of this TODAY.

This involves de-regging you - do you want us to do that now?

evelynj · 09/10/2014 17:23

How ridiculous-they must think that any publicity is good publicity. What a bunch of tossers. I think this is the year where their true colours come out to a wider audience.

They effectively banned my friends church from coming to a community in Nepal where they'd been working for years after SP decided to 'invest' in the area & didn't want anyone else on their patch. Vile behaviour.

Oh, all IMHO of course.

I don't think they'd proceed with court action anyway now that the posts are taken down. That's all they really want, I think. IN MY OPINION.*

CalamitouslyWrong · 09/10/2014 17:25

It's not nastiness when people are pointing out that the organisation absolutely does not just want to give children a gift at Christmas time. They're relying on people assuming there's no ulterior motive.

TweetingInFury · 09/10/2014 17:26

Ashtrays on the Titanic Dewee.

Don't sue me.

mymummademelistentoshitmusic · 09/10/2014 17:27

I'm printing the t shirts as we speak, 'free the Mumsnet 1' with a pic of Gordy looking pathetically through superimposed bars.
Seriously, this is nasty, bullying, unite unChristian behaviour.
