To think this is hideously misogynist

A guy I know has posted a status on Facebook (I know I know) saying that he 'wished more women were like his baby daughter, beautiful, unable to speak or criticise him, and able to get her feet in her mouth'.

AIBU to think this is a disgusting thing to think, never mind actually say on a social media site? Not sure if I'm overreacting, but I feel really sorry for his dd if this is the attitude her dad has to women. I realise it's meant to be tongue in cheek, but judging from previous 'ball and chain' esque comments he's made at social events about his wife, I suspect it does betray a very real and present misogyny.

I think my DH (who is in no way a sexist, but very relaxed about everything) would tell me to chill out and ignore it, but more and more I'm seeing this sort of thing as the tip of the sexist iceberg. Am I going crazy, or is this man a knuckle dragging Neanderthal?

God Almighty Charity, thats appalling. YANBU.

Does he always talk such sexist shite?

AnyFucker · 26/09/2014 20:12

No, you are not goign crazy and I agree with you

There is something rather creepy about a bloke that assigns comparisons with sexual acrobatics to his baby daughter

CatKisser · 26/09/2014 20:12

He sounds inadequate in every possible way. I pity him. (But also want to forcefully insert my foot into his mouth.)

SilenceOfTheSAHMs · 26/09/2014 20:13

I like people in RL, then I see the stuff they put on FB and I think "You're a twonk"

picnicbasketcase · 26/09/2014 20:14

How revolting. Who looks at a baby and makes that connection? Ugh.

SilenceOfTheSAHMs · 26/09/2014 20:14

AnyFucker yes yes! I tried to verbalise that but you have said.

Alisvolatpropiis · 26/09/2014 20:15

The "get her feet in her mouth" statement is a really sexual way to connect his baby to women.

Vile.

SilenceOfTheSAHMs · 26/09/2014 20:15

*said it.

ShutUpLegs · 26/09/2014 20:15

YANBU - it is deeply unpleasant. I wonder how his wife feels about it?

He'll be one of those man who gets bullishly protective about his little princess whilst leering at her mates.

Definitely bad taste and misogynistic. Doubt he's even thought it through though which is pretty depressing.

Guitargirl · 26/09/2014 20:17

Jesus wept. Honestly, a man who looks at his baby daughter and makes that kind of comparison. Totally fucked up. I really pity his wife.

Legs, yes

He'll catcall the schoolgirls but punch the bloke that does it to his own precious dd

what an utter twat

DurhamDurham · 26/09/2014 20:17

Well hopefully any right minded woman would run for the hills when they read that so hopefully he will grow old lonely. What a truly awful thing to post. Why would he be thinking of his baby girl or women in general in those vile terms?!

FelixFelix · 26/09/2014 20:17

Good grief that is creepy.

gincamparidryvermouth · 26/09/2014 20:18

He's fucking vile.

sonjadog · 26/09/2014 20:20

It always amazes me the shite people write on facebook. People who seems normal and nice in real life. It really brings out the idiot in people.

ocelot41 · 26/09/2014 20:23

YUK. Just YUK

RufusTheReindeer · 26/09/2014 20:25

What anyfucker said

TiggerLillies · 26/09/2014 20:25

I would've hoped a man with a daughter who will one day will grow up to be a woman herself would be more enlightened. That's a really disturbing comment!

Charitybelle · 26/09/2014 20:26

Oh thank god, I thought it was just me!
He's actually quite an affable bloke in RL, but does make a lot of borderline sexist comments (nothing as bad as this FB status) I always thought he was being ironic, or trying (and failing) to be funny.
I now suspect it comes from a deep seated insecurity about himself and his masculinity. He's not very successful in terms of his career, whilst his confident and driven wife is a bit of a high flyer. Maybe he can't handle that? Or maybe he's just a knob? Hmm

Ugh that's grim

LadyLuck10 · 26/09/2014 20:27

Yanbu, what are you going to say to him op?

AnyFucker · 26/09/2014 20:29

I would challenge that directly on FB
